RAWR will put Agility higher than ArmorPen, until a certain amount of ArmorPen.

With my Gear, ArmorPen becomes equal to Agility at 300ArmorPen. After that, ArmorPen is best stat.

FeralbyNight addon: 3.1 released!

I've just finished to rewrite the addon for 3.1.
I've tested it on live and it works fine.
Basically the only "user" change was some check for gear, auto-check and cycle change based on talent spec and low-level error fix.

I've worked hard those 24 hours to make it live again, with 3.1 they have changed a lot of API (and expecially debuff) so I've done a lot of rewriting. The good news is that now is a bit quicker.

It's a bit difficult to unzip that archive, since there is an "arts" file that gets in the way of the "arts" folder, at least with standard Windows interface. It might be good to remove the excess blank files in the archive.

The addon itself looks great, should be fun to work with.

Edit: It looks like none of the checkmark "Show Options" are working right now. At least for me, every display box is active all the time, even when I remove the checkmark for that option.

Thanks nightcrowler for all the hard work, time spent, and in addition the great addon. All is working great except for the bug Cuer mentioned.

Has the Armor Pen *bug* mentioned during the 3.1 PTR been fixed for live? Or is the penalty for it still there? Did you have to revise any of your gear lists for the live version?

I'm getting the same problem. I've figured out how to manually edit the lua file to remove some of the windows. But the HUD, OOC, and cooldown windows don't have Show() or Hide() functions.

It's still there.

For anyone not familiar, here is a description of the bug:
MMO-Champion BlueTracker - [BUG] PTR ArP exactly 19% worse than tooltip

Basically armor penetration is worth 19% less than it should be.

@Mekell: There was an error on login but no additional popup errors. As for functionality, I'm not 100% on what all the windows are supposed to do. Some of them were blank. I was hoping for a screenshot with callouts labeling the functionality of each box so I (and the rest of the community) can pass error info along coherently.

@Cuado - thanks C.

I went home at lunch and tested the new version he uploaded (the 2nd new one to be precise), and no more errors. The only problem is the same one the others noted which is that the check boxes dont appear to do anything in most cases. I was able to use the "scaling" functionality to make the ones i didn't want small enough that it didnt bother me. But you are right, A screenshot of the windows and what each one is would be a great tool. I can try to provide the screen shot when i get back home from work, but I still am not sure what all the windows are enough to label them.

Its pretty obvious on some of the windows, but here's what i figured out, in terms as best as i can provide while here at work....

The window flashing our ability icons are is the Suggestion Window and the Prediction Window (this is more obvious when you are actually in combat)

The window with the green blue and yellow bars (Energy, etc) is the HUD

There are several smaller windows, one for CP #, One for SR Remaining Duration, One for Energy % available

There was a really large window, which forever i couldnt figure out what it was. This is the OOC window. This window is for a large graphic to notify when OOC procs, i think.

The long bar is the cooldown bar.

I couldn't find a reason NOT to crop the HUD (one of the options that does work in the options menu /fbn)

Hopefully that helps some of you other testers figure out what some of these windows do.

Nightcrowler, first I want to say great work.

There seems to be an error though in the uncompressing of the most recent update. There is a blank feralbynight file that is blocking the unzipping of the actual add-on at least on Windows (I can't say if the same problem is happening for Mac users). I am not sure if anyone else has had this difficulty specifically, though Cuer is having a similar one with the art file and folder inside the feralbynight folder.

I know this is designed for single target dps; however I wonder if a similar thing could be done for aoe pulls (My guild seems to believe all trash are aoe.). Would it be better to mangle, swipe (cat), SR, Tiger's fury, then swipe(cat) until the pull is finished or continue to single target dps?

EDIT: I have managed through 7-zip to uncompress the file, but the add-on is not appearing on the selection in WoW. I have Ace3. Is there another way around the problem?

Largehorn, AE dps is pretty simple. Use mangle once to keep SR up and then swipe away. Most AE pulls in Naxx(server issues have kept my guild out of Ulduar) don't last well beyond a 1CP SR, so that's usually not an issue.

I update you about the state of art then I'll start working on the addon again.

Today:
I'll try to get rid of Ace requirment.
I'll try to fix show/hide frame interface.

Those 2 things should make the addon works for basically everyone.

I'll also add a tooltip to the different frames when they are not "blocked" because I usually change the interface behind a target dummy but I don't think everyone will do it and some frame doesn't show up untill you are in combat.

Then I'll test zip/unzip with windows (I use Mac).

I'll fix a minor bug for some boss debuff not showing properly (like Heart of the Crusader).

As for customization, like font and icon change, hud change and so on, I'll work on them after everything else (functionality before look!)

If you really want to custom those thing you can look at code, you first need to copy the icon .tga file or the .ttf fonts into "arts" folder. then you can change the .lua file to match the new graphic.

For fonts you should look at code lines:
544: for stats frame
579: for CP/Lacerate stack frame
589: for SR/CD frame

Changing the suggestion panel icon is a bit tricky, for others:

950: for OOC graphical effect
1183: for CD monitor. You should ADD a code line like this:

Could you possibly make it so if your spec isn't feral at the time it hides itself, and when you switch to a feral spec it toggles itself back on?

Don't know how easy or hard this would be, but could you include an option to hide in bear? or put three check boxes for every window, bear caster and cat. so you can hide some for bear and show them in cat.

Sounds to me like it would be a bit of work though. Addon seems to work properly for me now, after your work on it today.

Only issue i have had is it seems like it has be doing a few too many 5 CP SR's on the dummy. Not sure what could cause this.

You got any evidence that it's still there on live? I was just about to resocket my gear to 16 armor pen, does this mean I have to wait?

edit: nevermind I found the post http://elitistjerks.com/f31/t29453-c...7/#post1193949 but I'm still unsure where this places ArmorPen in relation to Agility and other stats. Should we still aim to stack Armor Pen?

You may want to re-evaulate Tunic of Limber Stalker in your best-in-slot list, it's had it's armor pen stat removed. I believe it was heavily over budget for it's itemlevel.

- Tauren Druid (Realm first Naxx/Malygos)
- Gnome Mage (Realm first Sarth +3d)
- Nelf Druid (new main - progressing through Ulduar)

I have installed the addon and was very impressed, good work. I was pulling around 3.7k dps on the dummy (following the suggestion window) which was nice Thats without the new SR Glyph, and fully regemming arm pen / agility yet, was also with the rip idol.

I am getting this alot too, possibly need to try and predict SR running out before you reach 5 CB so you can refresh it on 2-3 combo points early and rebuild to 5 CB again for rip or fb.

I know you are not working on the looks yet, but I would love a simple bar which just had the 5 main kitty things up on it, FFF, Mangle, Rip, Rake and SR. So I can just have that and the "suggestion" window. The long bar seems to have everything on it, and I'm not really sure what it is for. You'd possibly want a simple bear bar as well with mangle, ff, demo roar and lacerate on it.

Keep the good work up!


OT: I have been reading through several posts on this forum and there seems to be differing oppinions on the hit rating cap. Some say 8% some say 9%. Which is it?

As promised early, I've solved the main problems many people are experiencing.

The addon NO longer requires ACE library, I've tryied it on a fresh computer with only WoW and FeralbyNight installed and it works fine.
I've also substituted the ooc icon on suggester left side with TF/Enrage (I like it more).
Show/Hide options now works fine for all frames
Now when you have frame unlocked and no targets it show some graphic inside most of them, so you can easly move then around.
Other players buff/debuff now display into stats panel and are used for ability suggestion (% crit like heart of the crusader for example), that function became broken going from 3.0 to 3.1, now it works again.
Readme file now has something into it.

Answering questions:

- I'm going to wait full (or semi-full) Ulduar items dicovery before recomputing best in slot and redoing simulations.

- I'm working on "profiles" (bear/cat/cast/pvp and so on) but it's a bit harder than I supposed before, so I need some time for it and there are other things I like to add before, the same for a "reduced cat cd monitor" like asked by Smartie.

As for 5 CP SR. It seems strange I know, but it's a wanted mechanic, not a bug and it comes directly from my simulation. Basically the SR slider it's there to let the addon know a sort of "minimum cps", after that there are 2 ways:

- if you don't have sr up you will do sr also with 1 cp because is better to have a short sr up than nothing at all.
- if the addon suppose that you will not have time to generate the minimum cps for SR if you use your 5 cps with FB or RIP, it choce to do a 5 SR cps. It's usually better (at least from simulated data).

What about Mangle spam and 2T6

Hello everyone!

My first post on EJ :')
I've got a question about Mangle spam and 2T6.

I can't stop using 2T6 for multiple reason.

It seams that mangle is still better than shred in dpe with it.
Moreover, with the priorities we have, it is clearly easier to play with mangle spam than shred spam.
And finally, the cp come faster and permit the use of more FB with mangle spam.

I looked for a long time about it on EJ but I don't see any answer to this.

Has anyone perfomed some tests about it, what is the caps to reach to stop using 2T6 ?! I'm bored of using it!

A strange error for you, Night: the move suggestion for me seems to be stuck on Mangle. All the time. It's obvious that the addon is doing the calculations in the background, as the predictors on the right side are changing, but the only thing in the middle of the box is Mangle. (This happens even when the Manglebot option is checked!)

Any thoughts?

Edit: And of course two minutes after I post I found the problem--still, it's a bug that needs fixing. The Mangle problem seems to happen only when the boxes are unlocked. Locking the boxes in place fixed the problem.

Mekell: A good reason not to crop the HUD is that the prediction/suggestion window fits neatly inside it.

Night: for your google code simulation project, what numbers are you expecting you put in for attack_power, feral_ap, and wep_dmg? I mean, I know what they mean but which numbers is it expecting from my paper doll and in which form?

It's not a bug. It's the only easy way I've found to show something up to move the frames.

When the frame are unlocked (I suppose you unlock them only to move them, then lock them again, isn't it?) I'm showing some dummy graphics to help finding it, if many ppl found that too strange, I'll search another way around.

X Syntax: you can find buffed cat stats on the main page (Buffed stats consider also 10% ap for shaman/hunter, 3% crit from retri aura and so on).
