What is the hit cap rating for boomkins?

Considering your list consists of Badge of Valor items that are BOE as well, might as well put in some other items that can be frequently found on any mid-high populated realm (prices may vary per server). Such as:

Neck: (ranges from 1.5-1.8k on Kazzak Alliance)
[Chain of Latent Energies] BoE - Naxxramas(N)

Shoulders: (ranges from as low as 600g - 2000g on Kazzak Alliance)
[Mantle of the Eternal Sentinel] - BoE - Drops from Sartharion(H)

Feet: (ranges from 500-700 for one and 4-5k for the others)
[Boots of Septic Wounds] - BoE - Drops in Naxxramas(H)
[Boots of Impetuous Ideals] - BoE - Drops in Naxxramas(H)


I guess someone could argue how most of these are drops from raids in 25man raids and pre-raid chars can't get them, the Auction Houses on most servers have these items up most of the time. So it's quite a viable choice, even for pre-raid Moonkin gear.

With current mat prices you should remove all other cloaks than deathchill, your simply gimping yourself by buying the honor or the other craftable one.

Hit is worth way more than Spellpower. If you need the hit (which you probably do) the spellpower loss is manageable.

I agree. I'm currently stocking up some gear for my Boomkin alt to slip into once he hits 80 (1.5lvls to go) and despite being tempted by [Battlemap Hide Helm] with the meta, I've stuck with my original choice and made him [Hat of Wintry Doom] until I can run some Heroics.

A mix of buyable, and farmable items. With heroics giving conquest badges now there's really no excuse to not get the best you can, if you're willing to put in the time i'd even say farm up the emblems and buy your 2 tier tokens from the vendor. Daily heroic quest gives triumph badges which can then be used on the idol, currently BiS reguardless of gear level and an ideal first buy.

That is a pretty good list. Depending on where you are on the Haste/Crit curve, [Leggings of the Snowy Bramble] might be better than Wildstrider. They'd also help you save EoC for 2t8, which is a huge bonus.

By no means did I mean for the list to be taken as a "this is all you'll need" kind of thing. It's just something I put together so i know what my goals are and what heroics i need to focus on. Doing VoA and 0 drake OS are also some of the things I'd consider "pre raid" as they're mostly idiot proof and can be done just fine in even random greens.

Personally, I plan on getting the t8 chest, but the helm is actually an overall loss for me, however I've also got the luxury of friends in high places so I'll be going into ulduar to get a 2nd piece. For someone in that position, your best bet would be the chest and the 8.0 shoulders (Thorim) to get your 2pc bonus while not compromising.

As for the trinket, I must have missed it in my run through of the gear list i made, as it's on my list in game. Thanks for pointing it out, i'll add it to the original post.

2T8 is approx 400dps of a theoretical gain. This beats that hat (individually, the hat is better than the T8 hat but not when the T8 hat gets you your 2T8 bonus), though it is an absolutely lovely hat I agree, and not linking both helm and chest as pieces to aim for since they can be bought with badges is a large mistake in that list. You might be able to pick up T8 shoulders quickly but this shouldn't factor into a general pre-raid list.

Just a tip for people looking to go boomkin and farming heroics.

Getting into 5 mans as a healer/tank is far easier than trying to go as dps since dps are a dime a dozen.

There is a lot of cross over between moonkin and resto gear (hit pretty much being the only difference) so dual speccing tree is a good investment and can save you a lot of time in the long run.
