just wondering but im far over hit cap now and i am wondering what to replace my yellow slot gems with.. currently i have 15 stamina and 10 hit in em. Was wondering if the 15 stamina 10 def rating is my best option... and if somebone could explain the benefits of def rating for bear.. for example what i get from 10 def rating

I think you'd be hard pressed to find a decent place where a green gem would actually be worthwhile. I suppose it's worthwhile if it gets you a +6 Stam or +6 Agi socket bonus, like [Conqueror's Nightsong Handgrips], but even then it's pretty close to not being worth it, going by Nightcrowler's stat values. Going by Rawr, it's never worth it to use a green or yellow gem, once you significantly pass the survival caps, agi and agi/stam trumps defense/stam even with decent socket bonuses.

It's great for meeting metas that need a yellow gem (DPS basically) and okay for ferals if you really want a yellow socket bonus for some reason. I use on in my [Runed Ironhide Boots], as they're used in both my DPS and tanking set, give the socket bonus, and are beneficial to both specs fairly well.

Basically, use them if you want a yellow gem.

I suppose I hadn't considered that gem, usually forget to add it back to the gemming template when rawr updates. [Nightmare Tear] is a good way to get socket bonuses in items like [Conqueror's Nightsong Handgrips] and [Icewalker Treads] especially if you're using the item for both tanking and DPS

Ok, I just started getting my Druid up to snuff to tank some alt ToC's and be backup since we are having a tank shortage. Trying to finalize my key bindings. I want to use the Macro's that put Maul into the other attacks, however I want to be able to un-toggle maul if I don't have a lot of rage. Apparently you can no longer un-toggle by simple hitting maul again while it is queued up anymore. Is there a way to do it with a slash command I can macro in? I am trying to avoid doubling key binds for mangle/lacerate/swipe.

You can make it so that you only hit Maul when you are also pressing shift:
/cast Mangle (Bear)(Rank 5)
/cast [modifier:shift] Maul(Rank 10)

If there's a way to do it so it won't cast maul when you press shift, I don't know how.

This won't cast maul if you press shift, but will still cast it if you press any other modifier.

/cast Mangle (Bear)(Rank 5)
/cast [nomod:shift] Maul(Rank 10)

Yeah I was aware of that. I was really looking for a 4 keybind set up instead of 6. 3 macros that queue maul with lacerate/mangle/swipe. One macro that I can hit to un toggle maul if it is queued up. I think that might not be possible any more the more I try and look for it.

I almost never gem for "yellow" stats. All of my current gems are +30stam or +10agi +15stam and unfortunately I'm still well over the hit cap in my current gear. I don't see much of any use in using green or yellow gems at this point because of the hit and expertise currently available on the lootlists. I would suggest to put in any gem you feel would help you, regarldess of whether you get the socket bonus.

The simplest solution I found is to macro Maul to Mangle only. With the CD on Mangle you can spam the button to avoid getting any white hits without also spamming another ability if you have abundant rage, or just hit the button when Mangle is off CD if rage is low. No need for bar switching or modifier keys, and your rotation can be as flexible as it needs to be.
