I just want to put in a counter point to the whole Resistance discussion: (However I only tank in end)
We got our 5th kill this week, and I wear zero resistance gear for them. I run at about 72khp pre Organ stacking. I rotate CD's on the breaths, our taunt rotation between two tanks seems to last 20-30 seconds so a barkskin/enrage/SI/FR rotation easily lasts the duration of the fight.
If you feel happier wearing the resistance gear, go for it. Just wanted to point out it is completely doable in Heroic mode without any of it and just Aura+MoTW.

Does anyone have a word of advice on tanking Herioc LK 10? 65-70k hp buffed seems enough for pretty much every boss but him, and so I gemmed accordingly (a lot of Def/Stam and Agi/Stam to suit socket bonuses). However, attempts on him have been pretty awful (tank damage is extreme), and so I've been thinking about changing something up. Running with Priest/Paly healer. Infest is getting CD'd, as is Soul Reaper, but the random gibs are hurting.

Just to throw out my numbers. I did this fight using Organ/Key, Armor Neck-Ring-Cloak, Rep Ring (Exalted), and running 372 Frost Resist. I was running 68k health pre-organ, but this was with the 10% buff where I'm certain yours was with the 5% buff. I did use a single armor pot, don't know if you did or not. I was main tank while I had a warrior taunting off me in p3.
Average Melee Swing: 22488
Average Frost Breath: 24533
The Warrior's info:
Average Melee Swing: 21781
Average Frost Breath: 37810
He ran Key/Sindragosa's Trinket and tried to cooldown as many breaths as possible with that trinket, but ran no frost resist. He did only take breaths in p3 with the mystic buffet increase, so his number is likely skewed, but you can see the strong value resist brings to the fight. It is doable without it, but it makes it much simpler to do it with it for any bears doubting.

It would be more interesting to see the range of damage you took and they took on each hit, especially for the breaths.

Rawr, stamina and agility
I reasonly re-rolled druid tank and thanks to all your great posts been able to learn the art of bear-tanking pretty quickly. One thing have been troubleling me. I like to figure out which tanking gear to aim for and Rawr seems to be the perfect tool for that task, but guides are telling me to stack Stamina in every single gem-slot i have while rawr are telling me to gem agility which seems to benifit both mitigation, survival and threat.
That lead me to a couple of questions:
- Have I missed a setting in Rawr since it ranks agility so high?
- Should I trust Rawr completely instead of the forum guides?
- If the guides are right, is there a way to avoid Rawr from advising me to use agility?

- Yes.
- Within reason and when properly set up.
- Yes.
Just adjust the settings for Survival, that'll crank up the value of both Stamina and armour.

On the Buffs tab make sure you have "Chill of the Throne" selected.

Under buffs select; Chill of the Throne and Strength of Wrynn
Under Options:
Set survival soft cap to 350,000
Set Target Damage to 100,000 and set Swing Timer to .75 or lower.

Setting swing timer to 0.75 will overestimate the value of unidentified organ and will screw up savage defense estimates.

Heya. I'm the original poster of this thread. I've had several messages asking me to make the first post similar to Cat DPS thread (Guide: Glyph/Spec/Gems/Etc). Even though it'd be greatly helpful for the druid community, I personally do not have time to type everything up by myself.
So, if you want to contribute, please feel free to send me mail (or post) a suitable "Feral Tanking Guide" for the community, and I'll be sure to copy/paste it onto my very first post!

There isn't really a need for that, posts three and four in the Druid: Simple Questions/Simple Answers -- Now with FAQ!! thread, that's the sticky at the top of the Druid forum, cover the basics.
This thread has covered many topics on tanking, it goes has more in depth discussion than is needed in the FAQ post. A lot of the discussion in this thread was only relevant for people working on the current content at the time of the posts, this is just the nature of a forum thread.
When it comes down to it bear tanking isn't very complicated, just reading our abilities and playing a bear should be enough to go and do heroics and then ten mans. You can't read about tanking and be an expert, that comes with experience and practice.

I realize this is probably more appropriate for the "simple question" thread, but is this truly a foregone conclusion? I know that extra health provides a nice buffer for the healers when learning content, but some of the health pools I've seen look almost excessive to me. Admittedly, I'm not yet working on heroic modes, which might tip the scales towards a Stamina-heavy build, but I've not seen very many situations where even an extra 10k health might have made the difference between success and a wipe. Balance was always the name of the game prior to ICC. Has this shifted so much since then?

Stamina is as good as it always has been, in avoiding as many back to back hits as possible. Beyond that dodge has diminished effect due to Chill of the Throne. It isn't like Sunwell where I was rocking a 72% dodge set for M'uru adds and that was a viable alternative. Dodge is fairly useless for Lich King because you can't stack it in enough quantity where a dodge becomes meaningful and healers can expect it. All a dodge means at the moment is over-heal because your healers are spamming you that much anyway, so better to increase your stamina and armour to the point where you can take additional unhealed hits due to shadow traps/valkyrs/defile etc...
On LK Heroic he hits very very hard. The aims are surviving Soul Reapers and surviving P1 buff stacks from Plague Siphon, stamina helps immensely on both of these. Beyond that Armour is still my favourite stat when I can stack it and as the buff increases I'll probably go back to these for LK Heroic but in our attempts so far Stamina seems the best bet for surviving Soul Reaper and P1.

Thanks for the reply!
Would the same hold true for expertise? I've been lucky enough to remain parry capped so far, but my next upgrade is likely to force me to either forgo the cap or else gem for it. I like the idea, and Rawr supports it to some extent, but it doesn't seem to be mentioned very often either.
