Cat WWS Thread

Similar to the impetus behind the moonkin WWS thread, there is a lack of a focused point of discussion for proven DPS in a raid environment. Now that Blizzard has acknowledged our DPS capabilities, I feel it's important to have a thread where someone can get an idea of actual feral DPS instead of just simulations and scattered parses. I'm sure many, if not all, of us are familiar with Nightcrowler's simulations. The simulations run us at a very high simulated number, but we all know that nobody is seeing that kind of DPS. Without further ado, I present my own humble parses for breakdown.

EDIT-We now use World of Logs, check recent posts for ongoing WoL posts from everyone involved in the discussion.

I've seen some people talking about speccing into Feral Instinct or taking Survival Instincts with 4/5 Feral Agression. Parses of AoE heavy fights with F.I. would be appreciated.

World of Logs - Real Time Raid Analysis

This is a overall logging of righteous dawn and I play feral dps for most fights. I recently switched from 3/3 FI (imp swipe) with 2T7 2T8 to 4/5 FA (imp FB) with 4T8 as SR/rip timers have become looser. I find FB can be used every second cycle fairly consistent (low energy on one rip application, high energy on second rip application saved to add FB into the cycle).

March 10 is the first day attempting to add FB into my rotation.

I will start by saying that so few fights currently are decent measures of an individuals capabilities outside of being able to look at their uptimes, and that's really what we need to do here. You see massive jumps in DPS between people who otherwise did the same 'real dps' when one guild (for example) had no downtime between Hearts on XT002 while the other was only getting halfway.

My Ignis:
WoW Meter Online - Combatlog Replay in Engrish
94% uptime on SR (we pull far back, my SR had the same uptime as the DK's Abom Might), 83.5% Uptime on Rip, but only 88% uptime on Rake, I never got slab pot so that was simply me being bad.

Same day was a 6.6k DPS on Assembly

I'm constantly comparing how I did compared to other druids on the WMO Scoreboards

Shamgarr 05/14/09 11:11 AM

Technical question, but we use wowmeter as well and I can't for the life of me find DOT uptimes explicitly - are you just counting the DOT ticks or is there a page to quickly compare this?

Yaelle 05/14/09 11:17 AM

Usually you look up the target (Ignis in this case) and look at his debuffs, like here

But, there were 2 cats dealing damage to him as seen here so its hard to tell how the up time of one of the cats really was.

Here's an Ignis parse from last night.

WoW Meter Online - Combatlog Replay in Engrish

7339 DPS (7565 Act. DPS), Fight time: 3:57

Note that this includes 0 swipe damage, the only few parses I saw higher had a large portion of swipe damage by swiping the offtanked adds, which is nothing more than padding.

This includes being slag potted once and having to run mangle.

As a corollary, I prefer running both T7/8 set bonuses over the 4 for now in regard to how my cycles work (as well as the right stat balance these pieces give me).

Me (pocketflan) as mangle bitch. I'm normally a tank and still am pretty terrible at staying in melee range.

My Iron Council from last night. I did have trauma up most of the time, have 2pT7 but no T8, and am entirely geared in Naxx gear.

Also my Ignis, with similar behaviors - just to give an apples to apples comparison to the rest of the Ignises.

42 Rip hits + 52 Rip Crits = 94 tics * 2 seconds = 188 / 225 fight time = 83.5%

Fuzzywuz 05/14/09 3:30 PM

Here's the parse from our Vezax kill last night (5/13).

2/4 T8 and a trauma bot.

My hit has dropped a little as I transition to ulduar gear, and while I understand that hit is theoretically less important than agility/armor pen, I couldn't help but notice that when my shred misses my rotation usually falls behind (SR will fall for ~5 seconds, or rip will be down for ~10). Is anyone else having some issues keeping their rotation together because of missed specials?

Also (and maybe this is a question for a different thread) I think the rip glyph may be broken. All of my 5P rip's last night were only 16 seconds and not 20. Is anyone else seeing this?

Armory says you don't have 2-piece tier 7.

According to your armory, you are not using 2t7. So, your Rips should only be 16 seconds base time.

Rainman5419 05/14/09 3:56 PM

I still feel like I'm a noob when it comes to DPS(just switched since 3.1), but here's a few parses I'll add to the list. Feel free to browse the whole nights' parses.
I currently DPS with this spec and 2pc t7 + 2pc t8. No mangle bot.

Council WWS

Razorscale WWS (the OP wanted an example of fight's w/ FI)

Kologarn WWS (I'd love to see other Kolo WWS)

With regards to Kologarn, I'm thinking next week I'll use 2pc t6, 2pc t7 & 2pc t8, but any thoughts/experiences on this?

Edit:Fixed the council parse, thanks to a civilian.

moz 05/14/09 4:02 PM

The 'Council' parse only includes damage done to Steelbreaker over the course of a 1:37 fight which swings quite heavily in the favor of ferals (not to mention you were sitting in a Rune of Power for half that time). Now a complete parse of a council kill would be more interesting.

As Boevis mentioned, high numbers on certain fights with varying circumstances while interesting are difficult to compare.

kalbear 05/14/09 4:03 PM

The one I linked above is a full council kill.
