It's tricky to evaluate the exact DPS loss of a clipped DoT. Even estimating it as only the loss of the tick damage and ignoring the early refresh time, clipping one tick loses 1/7 or 1/8 the value of a DoT. 850 spellpower probably adds a touch more than that (not mot more than twice that, but a quick guesstimate). So it might be worth clipping one tick during a trinket proc which is falling off before the last tick. I've never tried this--I've never had a Flare or Dying Curse with that strong of a proc.

Flare of the Heavens is worth a bit more than a DoT tick to a completed cast (probably a bit less than a DoT tick for non-Eclipse Wrath). If both Flare and your DoT will expire before you can complete your next nuke, it is probably worth refreshing the DoT immediately.

This assumes you aren't near the end of Eclipse, and you don't expect to be moving in the next several seconds.

However, the added benefit would be small enough (a few hundred damage, at most once per minute) that its probably better to pay attention to something else.

I could see programming the check into a "tell me what to do" addon.

I feel stupid for asking, but..

1. If there are two balance druids in a raid, both with 3/3 IFF, and one applies it.. does the other need to apply it as well to receive the 3% crit chance?

2. How does Wiseeclipse work, and what does it do? I downloaded it a while ago and attempted to figure it out, but I don't think I get it. It tells me below my character when eclipse is going to be cancelled.. but it doesn't appear to actually cancel it? Also.. I don't understand why cancelling eclipse would help anyways. Please explain how I can get this addon to work, and what it's even supposed to be doing.

1. 3% Crit is your personal crit, hit ist however global. So yes, you have to skill it to obtain the extra-crit.

Deb: You did not understand what I said. I clearly stated that both have 3/3. My question was.. If one applies it does the other get the benefit on that target without applying his own.

The other does not need to apply it (both can't be up simultaneously anyway).

1. Any FF applied to a mob will grant the 3% crit AS LONG AS YOU HAVE THE TALENT. So if you have iFF and a Feral applies the debuff you still get the crit benefit.

2. The killed WE so don't worry about it. But the main point was that you could cancel the Lunar Eclipse Aura before the game realized it, meaning you could pretty much guarantee a Starfire crit and proc Solar eclipse eliminating time outside of Eclipse, which was a DPS gain.

2. They killed it by making it so that you have to wait 15 seconds before you can proc the next eclipse. WE worked so that it would be able to make starfire get the crit chance benefit of eclipse and have a chance to proc the next eclipse at the same time. This was possible because of some client lag or something, but this will be impossible with blizzards new change anyway.

I have so far been healing as a druid, but I've slowely been getting a dps set to go with it. I also leveled as balance. However, since trying balance out again I have found that I have touble hitting even 2k dps.

I have read the first part of this thread and for my rotation I do as it says there:

Cast moonfire and insect swam then spam wrath untill proc cast starfire etc.

And I also downloaded squawknawe. I know it says at the bottom it does not work... but I can't see the fault in it.

I know my gear isn't brilliant for dps and I do use a few pieces I use for healing for dps, however i have got 9 percent hit with the same spec build as linked on the front page.

I would love it if someone could help me or point out little things that could make a big difference.
it would be much Appreciated or even just tell me that I am missing important things such as my idol which I am desperately trying to replace now.

I am bring this up as I am not sure if it is a mistake or I am misunderstanding the word choice.

"In your meta socket (only use hats with meta sockets), use Chaotic."

Was "hats" meant to be the word used or were you trying to say that only hats (I assume meaning the head slot) have the meta socket?

The wording sounds like if you had a choice between a meta in the chest or the hat, then "only use hats with meta sockets"?

The meaning is "always take helmets that have a meta socket, avoid those that don't have one" because the dps increase from the meta generally trumps the stat difference.

well; with 3.3 and eclipse %10 buff, my solar eclipse has more than %100 crit chance when raid buffed. if u have 245-258 ilvl gear you probably have nearly 500 haste rating and 900 crit rating. so you are hitcapped, you are haste-capped for solar eclipse and crit capped for lunar eclipse. Is crit still better than haste?. if yes will crit be better when you lose 2t9 bonus for t10s?

after the softcaps haste is better than crit is what "guides" write

how much % of crit do you have while in raid that you get %100 starfire crits? (including the new idol)
