When Tuesday's patch hits, scorpid poison is supposedly going to be nerfed but at a shorter cooldown. At the moment scorpids are by far the best pet dps wise (mine was hitting 1100-1200 on Brutallius), my question is what will be the best pet after 3.0.3?

Now that the autoshot is unlinked and will keep shooting through your specials are macros unnecessary for any types of rotations? Should hunters go for the highest dps weapon only?

Can anyone help with my auto attack next target issue? Since the 3.0 patch, now when I am attacking using my steady shot macro, I will auto target the closet next mob, which is often a completely different pull, and potentially wipe the group. This was never an issue pre patch, and I cannot find a control in interface options that stops it. I would greatly appreciate any post that shows how to stop this annoying problem.

Obviously a lot of information has changed and I don't believe the SS is up-to-date at this point. Haven't heard any word otherwise, either.

This is technically perceived to be a bug currently, but the macro Lactose has listed is a decent work around for it.

Been leveling an alt hunter, and I actually went to the wow boards on this -- I keep seeing it cooling down, but had autocast turned off. It's because Growl and Cower share the same CD -- so when you pet casts Growl, you see cower cooling down.

One probably I have been having -- I use blizzards default bars. And frequently, my pet is out, but I have no pet bar. I then have to Reload my ui to get it to show. I think a lot of it is getting hit while mounted and then being dismounted -- but even in normal combat, it just won't be there. Are there any bar mods for pets only?

Evohunt, there have been some sporadic discussions about this here and there in the Hunter WotLK thread. The closest I would point you is somewhere around here http://elitistjerks.com/f31/t28573-h...36/#post919378 which throws out some napkin math regarding the subject.

You can see the thinking is that since AotB is scaleable, while AotH is a static value, that AotB would in fact be better once AP hits a certain point. You can also see that this number has been estimated to be astronomically high.

This of course is based on a crude assumption, and does not factor in that pets have been doing 40%+ of a hunter's damage with a much lower attack power value (ie. BM pets scale better with AP than hunters), and also does not factor TBW, where a pet's damage is up by 50% whilst the hunter's is up by 10%, which result in a much lower breakpoint during uptime.

These 2 things probably make the break point lower, but without some more math and testing currently, I would still envision this would be an extrodanary AP number you would have to reach to get AotB to perform better on average.

1) It has been explored on the WotLK T&A thread about the effectiveness of AotB vs. AotH. I would be very curious to see the WWS on this once you can post it.

EDIT: See Faerdael's post above who responded before me and even provided a link.

2) Haste carries less value compared to other more valuable stats, i.e. agility, crit, AP, and Blizz has stated on the beta forums that haste was used more on the early tier pieces to fill in the itemization budget for the set (items) and we would see more desired stats in the later tiers. But, Haste is not the 'Devil" and in light of the recent chage to WF totem passive haste via gear seems a much better option to explore. It is not advisable to supplement haste for other items that might provide stats or even re-gem for haste, but don't fear gear that haste on it. For BM, SS + Quiver drops us to around 1.6 or so attack speed and much lower during raid haste effects, QS procs or even DST procs which technically gives us not additional advantage to our Steady Shot. But, our Auto Shots can go as fast as haste will allow them to go for a DPS gain. So, again haste is not the devil there are just other more beneficial starts we would prefer to use other than haste.

Also, the set bonus for T7 does not imply that it is geared strictly for BM hunters. All hunter specs should always use there pet (and manage that pet). If a hunter is raiding without a pet present, that hunter is just "bad."

What about dropping Improved Tracking and taking Imp. Stings+Glyphs (Steady Shot, Serpent Sting glyphs). Is this an improvement over 54/14/3?
