Please don't just ask me to complete the spreadsheet - it looks complex and I'm really just after fairly generic advice when faced with very low +hit. Is it pretty much 'forgo every other stat until you get to the +hit cap'? or 'balance things out until you reach the +hit cap' or something else?
Many thanks, these threads are such a great learning resource.

Download Cheeky's spreadsheet. Enter in all gear. Test out different gem combinations to see what gives you most benefit.
Simple yet effective.
As a beastmaster Hunter, agil+kings seems minutely better than raw attack power, but its such a small difference it's hardly worth paying any mind to.

Don't change AP gems for Agil. Waste of time and money and gives you almost no benefit.
Go buy [Talbuk Hide Spaulders] from the vendor, do a few heroic SP runs for [Midnight Legguards] and run some EOTS for [Veteran's Chain Sabatons]. If you can afford it (or have a well skilled tailor guildy/friend) get them to make you a [Vengeance Wrap].
Four easy large upgrades.

This is certainly not the case, in my experience.
I have 5/5, the other hunters have 0/5.
If another hunter casts HM on a target, and shots land, I can still cast HM and mine goes ontop. Quite often it bugs out and we get two HM's (I dont know if we benefit from both) but usually mine just overides his.
I dont know if it re-starts the stack, I presume it does, but I have no doubt you can cast a 5/5 over a 0/5.

If you cast better HM(more talent points) after one with less talent points and with at least one stack from hits, you get two or more marks on target. Some hunters have tested that they stack(I have not tested this).
If you cast more talented HM, new HM is with 0 bonus from hits, previous HM can not be refreshed, but retains stack until it wears off.
Even if we can get overpowered for short time with 5 HM on target, we have not tried this in raids as we lose those marks in 2 minutes anyway.

Good Morning
I really need some advice in general as I have recently respecced to BM 41/20 with points in GFTT and Bestial discipline and Improved mend /revive pet. I did not take spirit bond. As a result my Hit points have dropped by about 1.1 K but that ( I don't think) will be a problem.
My main problem is the decreased reaction time and having to depend on a macro to fire off my auto steady's and KC's and trying to weave in Arcane Shots as for multishots, they're a nono unless I have a SP or Shammy.
Thing is, I worry constantly about not using the full benefit of kill command so I used this Macro in conjugation with the Addon Errormonster
/castsequence reset=3 Steady Shot, Auto Shot
/cast [exists,target=pettarget] Kill Command
and I manually weave in Arcanes when I can
What I need to know is , is this clipping/Clobbering my auto shots or steady shots since I know KC has to be fired off before Steady so if this doesn't work... what do I use?
I am depending on macro's for now as I still need to get familiar with the BM spec , perhaps in 2 -3 runs I'll be confident enough to micro manage my pet and its healing and manually use KC and weave my shots.. I really want to get the most out of this spec..
Secondly, as because , I was a SV/MM hybrid before, I had the extra 9 yards which I really miss and I find my self having to run forward more since I do automatically stop at 41 yards ( sigh habit , lol)
I has 3 yellow Smooth Dawnstones which i replaced with Wicked Noble Topaz as I needed the raw attack power more. Thanks to Cheeky's spreadsheet I could then somehow calculate what would give me more AP /Crit ratio ( THANKS SO MUCH FOR IT)
End result is 139 Hit, 23.69 Crit and 1930 RAP unbuffed. ( Armoury ain't working for some reason)
I'm not very happy about my low crit and low AP but I don't know what else I can do
I'm using The Bloodlust Brooch and Hourglass as trinkets instead of DST as I feel the Haste Proc will take me below Auto GCD / dead time ... correct me please if I am wrong
I also am wondering about long fights, chugging mana posts is not a problem and neither is using runes etc...shall i use Mark of conquest and swap trinkets?
Also , shall i take my Scorpid or Wind Serpent or Cat tonight?
I'm doing TK tonight with my new guild and I really really want to shine, any feedback advice would be greatly appreciated

If you have it, I really recommend using the DST, I haven't had any problems with it pushing me too far, and even if it did you wouldn't really be losing dps. When it procs you should just focus on auto steady, or if you have the mana, something like auto arcane auto multi auto steady. It is easier to time when under a lot of haste, and it will still give you a dps boost compared to pure auto-steady spam, although be it a way less mana efficient one.

You could also save up your heroic badges and get the Blood Knight War Cloak from the vendor in Shattrath, as well.
I have a question about the Scaled Greaves of the Marksman. I am currently wearing the T4 legs, but looking at my stats I find I'm a little lower on crit% and AP than I would like to be, based on numbers I'm seeing from similarly progressed hunters. I'm trying to decide whether or not the loss of the T4 set bonus, plus some mana and HP, are worth the extra AP and crit%. One thing I am trying to factor in is the Equip: Increases bow skill rating by 16. What sort of effect does that have on the numbers?
I would use Cheeky's spreadsheet, but until I get a Microsoft version of Excel I'm sunk; for some reason it won't work on Office for Macs

Even disregarding the bow skill rating, the Scaled Greaves are better. The T4 set bonuses are minimally useful. Int and mp5 contribute a trivial amount to your DPS for their itemization cost - Agi, Crit, Hit, and AP will always be more useful.

This might be a bit off-topic, however I recently switched over to an add-on called Parrot from using SCT, and a legacy addon that I had to detect Feign Death resists and put them through SCT.
When I realized I now have nothing to track FD resists, I was curious what everyone else uses to track these potentially deadly resists? I didn't feel it warranted a whole new thread in the UI/Addons section, but still is a concern to raiding hunters.

I use Omen as a threat meter, and when my FD is resisted my threat stays right where it was at.

I use the same method, however it'd be nice to get that info quicker because many times there's a delay and I find myself holding off on dps for a moment to see what happens to the threat meter.

I tested this a while back.
Hunter Mechanics -- v2.0/TBC
Haven't tried it recently and we'd see if this would be fixed along with the HM timer bug. Overwriting a lower level stacked HM shouldn't be difficult. They can just check the talent rank and if it is equal or higher, update the rank, change the ID of the owner and refresh the duration. The stacked RAP can stay as is.
However, allowing a lower ranked HM to refresh a higher one is a bit tricky. If the IHM owner dies or out of LOS, you shouldn't be able to retain the IHM benefit. OTOH, not being able to refresh it would lose the stacked HM RAP, not just the IHM. That may be a design decision to expect IHM hunter to reapply it. I just need to keep reminding the other hunters if I die early they need to use HM themselves.

Macros are enabled when I open the spreadsheet. I don't know what happened - it suddenly wouldn't work for me, out of the blue, one day. I downloaded the newest version, opened it up, and not only would the Save/Load buttons not work, some of the values wouldn't change when I swapped out gear.

My latency in a typical raid is ~400. Is this too high to be using the Steady Shot macro? I'm BM and have been using the macro for a while. My dps increased when I went BM, but I am not seeing the dps increase and chart topping damage that others are. Also, I'm not using a scorpid yet, so take that into account.
Here's the WWS from a couple weeks ago.
Wow Web Stats
I'm fine/okay on Mag, Gruul and HKM, but my total damage done on VR is pathetic(despite the high dps). Anyway, should I be manually timing Steady Shot with a ping as high as mine? Also, I've just recently started threading Arcane Shots and Multi-shots in when I have time, but I don't have the WWS from last night's raid.
After looking at a few WWS of Gruul, I'm confounded. I looked over Shalbal's Gruul WWS and saw that she did twice the damage that I did in the same fight. I simply don't understand it. I'm firing the whole time and our gear isn't really that different. What am I doing wrong?

An unexplained drop in damage
Yo peeps, first post on these forums but i've read them alot in the past and I feel confident i'll get a sensible answer to my problem so here goes..
Many months ago, I specced to BM after seeing how well it performs in raids and after speccing it I was very pleased with the results. After a while I decided to try out a survival raid DPS build and stack plenty of agility to boost the effect expose weakness has on the raid and it was fun but my DPS was too low to justify keeping it so I specced back to BM again and it never improved enough to match the level of damage I could do in the past.
and therein lies the problem! I've been running Dr. Boom DPS tests and it's been pretty disapointing. My DPS struggles to break the 700 mark and often drops below 700, and in raids i'm way down the damage list (using swstats with pets merged) I've recently just started using the cast sequence macro to counter the effect running AOL has on my latency coupled with the lack of power my PC has to cope with those fights where theres fireworks and fireballs flying all over and my FPS drops to single figures.
The only major change in my gear has been my weapon. I went from using Wolfslayers Sniper rifle to using Barrel-blade longrifle and I thought with the faster attack speed, i'd be better off using my standard steady/auto-shot DPS cycle but I feel i'm missing some major problem thats costing me alot of DPS and from the information i've been given, an attack speed closer to 1.5 is better rather then worse. At the moment i'm slipping further behind the rest of the guild and it's going to start costing me if I don't find some way to improve.
Has anyone ever encountered a problem like this or can shed some light on some weakness in my gear/spec? I've tried to look at it objectivley but i'm at a loss what the problem is.
Armoury link: The Armory
The weakest part of my gear is probably my belt but i'm working on getting a belt of deep shadow crafted but I can't see that alone helping enough. If you want to see any web stats on fights then i'm sure I can sort one out.

Looking at your VR fight, your dps time was 44%. Even when I am getting chain casted with arcane orbs, I still average around 70-75% dps time, and if lucky I'm around 90% dps time. You spent 25k of heals on your pet, but even with the heals, you apparently resurrected your pet twice. I think you're simply not getting enough shots off, either due to latency, or because you're running around too much.

Kael'thas Macro
I was hoping to find a good macro for the weapon in the Kael'thas fight.
In particular I want the macro to do the following:
1. Equip bow
2. Use bow
3. Open arrow bag
4. Loot all arrows from the bag
5. Equip the arrows
I've seen a hunter in a video use a macro to do the above, but I have not been able to make or find one myself. If any hunters are using some macro to decrease the amount of time wasted doing all those steps manually, I'd really appreciate it if you could post your macro.

The [Darkmoon Card: Crusade] it a flat +120 RAP if you can ramp it up. A typical BM Hunter could probably get that in 18-22 seconds of a fight. Once it's up it is better than an averaged out [Bloodlust Brooch], but just barely. Unless you need the brief period of super-high RAP for a Scorpid. I have both of the trinkets you mention, and I wouldn't put in the time/money to get the card.

That extra damage is added into Auto, Aimed and Multi-Shots before any modifiers, so it gets effected by critical hits, Focused Fire, Ferocious Inspiration, Ranged Weapon Specialization, etc.

We're not entirely sure. Current thinking is 3% to hit against L73 targets and 0.5% crit. You could always test it out yourself. We like numbers too, make sure you provide a large enough sample size please. Capitalization, spelling and punctuation are your friends, especially on these forums.
