In what universe is replacing a green (yellow+blue) gem with a purple (reb+blue) maintaining your metagem color requirements? That will be where your DPS went.

all i need for my meta is 2 Blues..... which 2 purples covers just like 2 Greens does.
And about losing the T7 bonus. I gained DPS when i replaced the chest, as you can see by the second step in the equation. and only lost DPS when i replaced the gems.
In what universe is sarcasm and being rude usefull?

Then you're using the wrong meta gem. You should be using a Relentless Earthsiege Diamond which requires 1 red, 1 blue, and 1 yellow.
But like others have posted, you lost your T7 2set bonus.

There is a small bug where the meta-gem requirements are messed up. Not a problem with the Relentless diamonds (which need 1/1/1 of RYB anyway), but the requirements for yellow and blue gems are swapped which is why any meta-gem that needs X blue or Y yellow is counting the wrong amount. It's never come up before because almost everyone uses the relentless earthsiege diamond.
This will be fixed in the next (minor) version.

Viper sting on bosses with mana vs aspect of the viper
Hi there all,
As survival:
The question I have is it more effective to drop a viper sting on a boss (that has mana), wait while viper is on cooldown, then viper again, than switch back to viper, auto until full, and then back into your regular rotation?
For example, Freya has 234k mana in normal mode.
@ 4% of mana drained = 9360 * 300% (that's returned to you) = 28080 mana from one viper sting, Unless there is something severely wrong with the way I'm reading the tooltip or doing my math.
The post here is because this is probably the best thread for this question.

The tooltip also reads "...up to 8% of the caster's maximum mana..." so the most a viper sting can give you back is 8% of your mana pool, regardless of the target's.

Thank you, so I was reading it wrong then. So that pretty much means that aspect of the viper is still the way to go.

so until then I can just hand adjust and it will maintain meta, appreciate the response, I'd noticed it a few times before and could never pin down what was doing it.

Alright, if that's the case, in a situation like mine where I have ~10k mana
After 8 seconds I would gain back 2400 mana, by using viper sting on a boss.
In those same 8 seconds I would get off ~4 shots restoring ~ 350 mana per hit in viper = ~1400 mana.
But there are 7 seconds where I don't gain mana so that's ~ 4 more shots, so AoV only gains 2800 mana.
What I'm really trying to figure out here is on bosses that have a mana bar, would I be better off switching to viper sting instead of serpent so that I could stay out of viper regen longer?
For example I'd switch my serpent sting with viper at 20% mana, but continue my regular rotation. Would this be a significant DPS decrease? Or would I be minimizing the down time that I need? Black Arrow would still be up so the damage increase that I would get from Noxious stings would be negated anyway.
In theory since I am staying out of AoV and maintaining a semi regular shot priority and only losing the damage that serpent sting does wouldn't I be doing more damage for a long fight?
I ask this because there are some cases in our 10 mans where I am the only source of replenishment and there is no judgment of wisdom so mana use is more noticeable.

I hit Freya with a few viper stings last night and had 12 ticks of 282/283 mana gained from 3 viper stings. World of Logs - Real Time Raid Analysis (ignore the log from the BG that Golbar did after the raid, heh). EDIT: apparently queries don't get put in the URL. Click "remove" on that query, add a new query for spell "Viper Sting", run query.
Freya has 702k mana so it's pretty obvious that it is capping at 4% of my max mana. 282*4/.08 ~= 14000 mana, which is about what the spreadsheet puts my raid buffed mana pool at. It should be clear this cap is calculated and applied to all four assumed ticks equally; in other words you can't have one really big tick cap out and the last three do nothing.
Sorean, with that in mind you'd have to have 30,000 raid buffed mana to get back 2400 mana from a full viper sting. Viper Sting appears to be a nice trade off in situations where you can sting a target that is not your primary damage target though, such as Freya or maybe some adds on Thorim arena. In that case you'd effectively be trading one GCD for mana without losing the benefit of serpent sting on your damage target.
EDIT: below people are right; that's how much I leached not how much I gained from it, so 24% was right.

I just went and checked it to make sure I was not crazy. I had just shy of 12k mana. Unbound Seers below Dalaran have about 13k. I was getting returns of 390 mana per tick of Viper Sting.
390x4 ticks = 1560. 1560 / 3 = 520. 4% of 13k is... 520. Therefore you gain 300% of what is drained. And the maximum you can drain is 8% of your maximum mana, and it returns 300% of that, or up to 24% of your maximum mana. This is why Chimera shot owns Viper Sting.
What you are seeing in your log is how much mana she is losing. You are actually gaining triple that amount.
Yeah, double checked my log and it says I drained 130 / gained 390.

Esoth, the log specifically says you -leeched- 282 mana from Freya, and the tooltip of viper sting says that it energizes you with 300% of the amount leeched.
I think you received 282*4*3 = 3384 mana returned from 1 viper sting, which is consistent with how much mana I feel like it's giving back to me.

Since downloading 89a I am having a number of strange occurrences. I got it all set back up, but my gear planner is completely off. It is showing garbage blues being better than Ulduar 25 gear and all of my dps per attribute fields are blank except for haste. I am using Excel 07.

This has been reporting by a few people and after some searching I finally remembered why it's not showing it. It's purely because otherwise the name won't fit properly in the cell and overlaps into the gear field. It is adding the critical damage properly, have no worries, it's a purely cosmetic flaw.
