Thank you very much for explaining that. I didn't realize that it used the "regemmed" gear as the baseline, so that clears up a bit for me. I have found the regemmer to be pretty spot on, even if I wouldn't have thought of going the same way.

It simulates adding Kill Shot to your rotation when the boss hits 20%, while if you have Kill Shot in the rotation then it assumes you can use it 100% of the time.

The bug only shows up in some configurations. My setup is:
* Rotation test enabled
* Kill shot in rotation
You can see that the kill shot block is grayed out, but is still modifying final DPS a little. The reason is that the two DPS values for kill shot and steady shot are slightly different. This is because:
* Old kill shot dps = DPS in priority table = (damage / old-frequency) * viperDamageAdjust
* New kill shot dps = damage / new-frequency
The frequencies match (of course - they're both from the same cell when rotation test is enabled), but only one takes into account Viper adjustment. This bug will no manifest if you don't spend time in Viper. Viper adjustment for the kill shot added DPS is done in C31.
There are two possible fixes:
1) Change C31 to always be zero when rotation test is enabled
2) Change C65 and C67 to incorporate viperAdjustment directly (and remove it from C31), which should make C70/KillShotDPSGain equal zero
It seems to me that the second solution is the most correct (It will also change kill shot adjustment when not in rotation test mode, but i think correctly).

Ah, it makes sense now. You're right option 2 is the correct fix.
As for the flasks, I've fixed the relevant ones and removed the (in my eyes) useless ones. What raiding hunter is going to use an unstable flask of the bandit? Or Flask of Titans/etc..
EDIT:
Yes, the fixes/changes will be in the next version, which also should have the remaining bugs you found. Let me thank you for all your work!

I agree about the useless ones, but in the latest version they're still there.
The currently incorrect flasks are Flask of Mighty Restoration & Flask of Pure Mojo, both of which give less MP5 than they should, both in normal and mixology modes.
[edit] Maybe you're saying you've already done this in the unreleased-next-version. In which case, great!

Hey guys, I've been tweaking the spreadsheet for a bit of time manually simply because my gear, talents, etc wont load, I just click them and do nothing. I would love to get to tweaking my max dps. As you can see, my gear is quite solid, and I look forward to helping the cause.
Does anyone know a simple, english explanation for this?

New pet issue: If you have a Ferocity pet spec'd with Cobra Reflexes, then switch to a Tenacity pet spec'd without Cobra Reflexes, Cobra Reflexes is still applied. If it's enabled in any of the family skill trees, it will take effect (regardless of what family your current pet is in). The mistake is in 'Pet Calculations'!F21

You should always press the 'regem' button after you equip an item the gear planner says is a dps upgrade, even if the green 'current item with regem' line is absent. If this actually leads to a dps decrease, report it here or PM because it means the regemmer is messing up.
Still from my own testing the regemmer isn't always 100% optimal, but it's within 1-2 dps of it.

What you have done with the Gear Planner is very exceptional and useful. I appreciate all your hard work on it, and it saves me a lot of time. It works quite well for pieces where you are not changing any +hit (or only a small amount from gems).
One thing for users to note though is that it does not always provide and accurate answer for gear swaps that involve large amount of changes in +hit. I believe that this is because the Gear Planner does not do any spec changes involving FA. When you replace a hit item with one without hit, it will try to make up the lost hit with gems. For me, this results in a DPS answer that favors the +hit item over reality since a point in FA to get the hit cap is much more effective than a point in an alternative talent (such as ISS or IB for MMs) and losing the stats when regemming for hit.
So please be aware of this when looking at the results of the Gear Planner. If you are losing or gaining a large amount of hit by the swap where you would consider respeccing points into or out of FA, then you should check the gear swap out manually.
It would be ideal if the Gear Planner accounted for this as well, but it's not really easily feasible, so please do not ask Shandara to try to do it (unless Shandara wants to take up the challenge). The problem is that there are so many variations in spec and making the Gear Planner work in these cases would require either having a Spec Optimizer too or a complex set of priority rules per spec for which talents to prioritize moving points into or out of for FA. Even then, the decisions then may not be consistent with the choices the player would make for particular play style reasons.
EDIT: Actually, I just thought of a way for how FA could be more easily accounted for in the gear optimizer/gemming analysis that accounts for user preference. New settings could be added where the user specifies the talent (or talents) from which points may be drawn to put into FA when hit is lost and the talent (or talents) that points in FA are moved into when hit is gained. Would probably also want a "No FA" setting option for those that do not want to ever use the talent. Now I am not asking that any of this be done, since I am more than happy with all the cool features and benefits of the current spreadsheet.

I'm really more in favour of just expecting the user to notice where items put them with respect to the hit cap and just try them with varying amounts of points in FA themselves, rather than complicate and slow down the gear optimizer even more >.>

I've been fine with the re-gemmer for awhile, but the latest version of the spreadsheet wants to move my Nightmare Tear from one item to another and is now showing an improvement for every item in the Gear Planner that says "Current Item with Regem 1.75".
It is pretty annoying to see that "item" in every slot of the Gear Planner (highlighted in yellow, no less). Can we please have an option on the Gear Planner page to not show "Current Item with Regem" in the list? Or, alternatively, how about not creating a separate item for the re-gemmed version and just show the re-gemmed delta value on the same line as the regular item (with the delta in parentheses or something to indicate it is from a re-gem, instead of displaying a delta of 0.00)?

It's pretty strange it's yellow for you, since I did make the 'Current Item with Regem' line light green. If the regem gives a delta of 0 it shouldn't display at all though. I'd first wanted to do exactly as you said, but it would require modifying the gear planner quite extensively, whereas adding an extra 'item' would not.
The next version will have a setting to set a sort of 'grace' zone for regem values so that if the dps gained from regemming is smaller than that it will not display the 'current item with regem' item.

Waistguard of Deathly Dominion (H) appears to have the values for agi and stam swapped, compared to what is in db.mmo-champion.com (and I sympathize with having to deal with its horrible stat ordering).

there's a high probability that you havent enabled macros for excel spreadsheets, you should do that first.
Also, i noticed that if i put on my gear, set my spec and buffs up, and then go to the gear planner and hit calcdps, then sort, often it will put worse items higher than my current items. I can verify this by going back to the gear page, equipping them and seeing the dps decrease on that page. Why might this be, and have i been correct in going off of the gear page after a calcdps?

Is anyone using the Tier9.25 shoulders and able to import their char into the spreadsheet?
I'm getting "ItemID not clear. Aborting."

This is an error message that appears when the item tooltip for a slot is empty in the XML. If you check your Armory profile page you'll notice that certain slots are empty, which means Blizzard hasn't updated the Armory properly to show those items yet.
It's complaining about the itemID, because I haven't updated that error message yet to it's new way of handling Armory imports.

I believe there might be a bug with Gloves of the Dark Exile, In-game they are iLvL 219, but the spreadsheet lists them at 213, and the gear planner is rating them even below the worst Naxx-10 gloves.
