I posted this in the simple questions thread but didn't get any answers so I'll post it here too. I asked if our 4 piece bonus was actually any good or not and I ended up testing it on my own but wanted help analyzing the results.
Ok I actually kinda tested this on my own but I was curious for input.... I tested on a dummy both with, and without 4 piece bonus and these were my results. I only shot Steady Shot and Auto Shot while in viper, I probably should have done serpent too now that I think of it to make it more realistic.
Time from approx. 0 mana to full with 4 piece - ~29 seconds
Time from approx. 0 mana to full without 4 piece ~32-33 seconds
So assuming you're in Viper from 0 mana to full mana (I have 11k mana) this will save you 2 GCDs while in Viper?
This is just what I thought to test, anyone else want to point out something I did wrong or should have done instead? And if these results are sufficient, does this mean 4 piece bonus is pretty bad assuming you don't have mana issues?
Someone told me to check DPS in both too so a quick test and not super carefully done showed me...
DPS with 4 piece - 1441 dps
DPS without 4 piece - 1335 dps
Level 80 Cryptstalker's 4 piece set bonus is entirely useless if you do not have to use aspect of the viper, or if you only use viper while moving.
In a fight where you actually need to use viper from 0 to full, it would be worth ~115 dps according to your testing. If you account for the loss of dps incurred from switching non-tier pieces with the tier ones (particularly chest and/or helm) you'll find that the set bonus is relatively weak.
It's called Bloodlust, not Heroism. What kind of pansy name is Heroism, anyway?

Is there a simple way for me to adjust the Overview/Server Set to allow downloading gear from a non-EU/US server? (Taiwan in particular.)
No worries if it's too complicated to bother with.
This will be in the next release. It was easy to add. It _seems_ to work properly since the Taiwanese Armory also provides data in English (thankfully). I'm finishing up some additions to the sheet right now and expect a release in a few days.
The 'Assume 100% hit' function will be changed slightly so it discounts any hit given by gems as well. It only affects the gear planner.
I'm experiencing a strange problem with the spreadsheet. My "Haste to Cap" isn't calculated right. At the moment I selected some gear to sit at 286 Haste and the SS keeps telling me that Haste to Cap is 0. Is there a button to turn off serpent swiftness or anything similar? With Haste to Cap = 0 it weights haste much less than the other stats and keeps suggesting gear without haste. Could this be a msexcel 2k7 specific problem?

The haste to cap figure is how much haste you need to get SS down to below 1.5s. With 286 haste and buffs/talents you will be way below 1.5 seconds. Hence you don't need any more haste.
I changed my gear to 0 Haste and this is what the Spreadsheet came up with:
(No Serpent Swiftness, only Quiver)
My belief was, that Haste Cap was somewhere over 500 Rating.
The second try without Raidbuffs resulted in the same 187 Rating for Cap and the last try with 0/5 IAotH and no Raidbuffs didn't change the Haste Cap either.

Your steady shot calculations use the haste for autoshot, which has averages for rapid fire and heroism/bloodlust. Is this used for the "haste to cap" calculation? I'm not sure that would be appropriate, since either rapid fire and/or heroism will cap you when active but have no effect when not.
I've been looking for the Elixir of Accuracy (45 +hit) and couldn't see it in the list of available elixir buffs.
I'm hovering on the brink of being hitcapped and like to use the spreadsheet to work out gear/elixir/food combinations that yield the best dps while still maintaining the necessary hit cap.
I did a quick search in this thread and couldn't see a post about it so thought i would give a heads up.
Can someone check how much crit you get from taking 5/5 master tactician as survival build? Using regular steady/explosive/auto rotation? I don't have excel installed right now so can't check this spreadsheet. But my spreadsheet is saying it gives 7% average crit, which is a lot better than what I expected. If this spreadsheet is not giving around the same, might be an error in modeling that. I remember checking old versions back in TBC and finding MT totally useless. They buffed it ofc but I remember seeing some threads about the new version being totally worthless as well, citing the spreadsheet.
Does the alchemist's stone account for the 40% increased mana potion effect when using the "use a potion" setting? I was looking around for where the value of a mana pot is shown but couldn't find it. This certainly reduces viper uptime.
Okay. I've asked this in the Simple Question thread and did not receive any answer. On hindsight, I don't think my problem is as simple as what I had initially thought it would be.
My dilemma lies with deciding between 2 ranged weapons - the Drake mounted Crossbow and the Accursed Bow of the Elite.
Drake Crossbow
126.9 dps
29 agi
enchant heartseeker scope
improves crit rating by 26
increases ap by 56
Accursed Bow
129.6 dps
28 agi
enchant heartseeker scope
improves haste by 21
hit by 16
ap by 40
Given that my hit is capped, and my skills on both types of weapons is a max 400, it is obvious which is better. The problem lies in the fact that I'm a troll and is supposed to have +1% to crit chance for bows. Theoretically, that should made the bow better for me.
Using the Gear Planner in the Spreadsheet (it's the only thing in there which I think i know how to use), they tell me that my drake is better, but then i realise that it doesn't seem to include my racial trait.
I did test on heroic dummies. 10 min autoshots only to get this
On drake, 318 shots 22.6% crit 435.5dps
On accursed, 320 shots (i presume it's because of the haste difference), 20.6% crit 431.5 dps
Therefore, I hope that one can you can help me. Sorry if this is a very noobish question.
Using the Gear Planner in the Spreadsheet (it's the only thing in there which I think i know how to use)
There's your problem. The Gear Planner is used only for basic comparisons. To properly answer your question, import your gear (assuming you did already; if you didn't change character names and server in the Overview tab), then, use the Gear tab, and switch out your bows there. That will provide you with the correct information.
Your question isn't terribly noobish; the spreadsheet can be very confusing to people who aren't used to it.
Aspect of the Beast is currently bugged on live to give 21%(25.44% glyphed) pet AP instead of 10%(12% glyphed). The latest spreadsheet version calculates AotB in its bugged state. From what I've read, AotB will be fixed in the next patch.
That is my main question. Where did you see that at? I have been looking for information and have yet to see blizzard say it is bugged. Of course it defiantly seems to be.

It has been silently 'fixed' on the PTR to not double-dip anymore which is the biggest sign it truly was a bug.
I searched the thread and couldn't find anything relating to this, but I do apologize if this is a question someone has already posed.
Using Excel on Mac OSX, I'm unable to run any of the macros, or importing or profile saving functions (this was also true for Cheeky's spreadsheet). I doubt there's a quick fix option in the actual writing of the spreadsheet, so the question is more to other Mac users who may have found better successes with these functions then I, could any tips please be shared?
I wonder if this spreadsheet could use a Talent Planner page. There are numerous questions posed and it may be a good idea if one page listed a summary of that information rather than having to constantly chance talents and note DPS or uptime of various things.
For example, people used to put 5/5 in Frenzy for a while until we realised that 4/5 is sufficient. How many points is "sufficient" for Hunting Party? And so forth.
A simple page that "calculates" how good (or bad) some talents are would provide many of the answers to questions posed in many of the hunter threads.

What comes to my mind here is something I have been doing manually in the past: Drop/Take one point for all talents in question and note the dps difference. Maybe this could be automated. Calculate all differences and show a sorted list. This would certainly be nice as a quick reference.
Edit: Thinking about it a little further, maybe there could be two lists: a "+1 talent point" list listing and sorted by the dps gain, if you put one more point in this talent where applicable and a "-1 talent point" list for talents, where you actually have points spend, beginning with the least dps lost.
I'm really sorry if this has been asked before, but how do you change the rotation bit in the spreadsheet to cater for readiness refreshing the cd of BW and rapid fire?
So it'd be:
1 - Rapid fire
2 - BW
3 - Readiness
4 - Serpent sting
5 - Steady shot
.
.
.
n - BW and Rapid fire when it wears off

This is automatable with pretty similar code to what is used for the attribute value calculations.
That code manually adds to each attribute in turn and calculates the dps difference (and unfortunately overwrites some hand adjusts on the gear page while doing that iirc).
For talents that would indeed be a useful evaluation tool.
Something I'd like to see come back, either in this thread or in a new one, is the Highest DPS post we had in wotlk. Post showing spec, gear/gemming/enchanting used, pet used, along with hunter dps, pet dps, and total dps, all using standard 25 man raid buffs/food/cons. I think itd be a great way to create a quick and easy reference of what gear/glyphs/gems/enchants to use for end game raiding.
Is there any plan to add BS sockets to the spreadsheet?
Basically all professions add 64 AP, except, JC gets 3x 11agi(or 22AP) and socket bonuses on blue sockets you wouldn't normally get, and BS gets 2x sockets to use 16agi gems on, which are better than 64 AP for SV.
I know that 64AP vs 32 Agi is small difference, but it would be nice to have them available.
As for best possible dps on spreadsheet, I think hunter class is still subject to a lot of changes and they haven't announced the new coefficients for scorpid sting and rake, so dps is bound to drop. I also can see explosive shot getting nerfed, and may be steady shot (or arcane shot might be a better alternative) getting buffed a little bit if BM dps takes too severe of hit.
Anyway, best dps I've gotten on the current spreadsheet is 6919.30 (5390.30+1529.01) as 1/18/52 with a scorpid.
Like King-Slide, I have a feeling that haste is not being calculated correctly. Now, that being said, despite my attempts to find a possible error, or a possible non error and me just being wrong, I am still a bit lost trying to match up the formulas.
What I am a bit confused about, and maybe someone can help me out, is with ArP. If I go to the Buffs page, and add Sunder and or faerie Fire for the target debuff, I do not see an armor reduction anywhere, or an increase in dps.
Should it not affect E15, and again E20, which in turn would make our own ArP rating scale up for dps purposes?
Still on the buffs page, Hearty Rhino uses an 280 armor reduction as oppose, to a 40 ArP rating
1. The Ferocity talent Charge is red (not supported), but the Tenacity one isn't. Must be simple oversight, since it is an identical talent, correct? Are their any plans to include Charge in the model? Is it known how Charge (1 sec immobilization, +25% AP next attack) stacks with Prowl (stealth and +50% damage 1st attack)?
2. There was a question about Rabid and Call of the Wild coming up with 0 DPS on the Pet Ability list, which was answered to say that they do not, in and of themselves, create DPS, but rather augment the DPS of other abilities - this I understand. However, with a Ferocity pet and a Talent point in Call of the Wild, I can't seem to get CotW as a selectable Ability or "Shot". Is it just assumed to be in use when available? I do see it on both the Calculations and Pet Calculations tabs, but adding/removing the talent point does not change my DPS or my pet's DPS at all.
3. The Pet Ability order that seems to make the most sense to me (for Ferocity) would be Rabid, Prowl, (Charge - not modeled), Rake, Claw. It makes sense for Rabid to be first and apply to Prowl, Prowl needs to be on the first attack, and then in descending order of length of cooldown, Charge, Rake and the focus dump Claw.
From the spreadsheet, though, Prowl seems to actually REDUCE my DPS by about 50 (this will vary by gear/build, but the direction is alarming), not to mention that I get identical (reduced) DPS if Rabid is before Prowl or after (as long as it is before Rake and Claw, of course).
As to the first issue, it appears as though adding Prowl to the Ability list reduces the frequency of Claw, which accounts for the drop in DPS, but Prowl is Instant, takes no Focus, and even from a GCD perspective it can only be used on the first attack. Is Prowl really so useless or is the spreadsheet taking it into account more than just on the first attack? (The Frequency Used column does say 7.50 for Prowl....) As to the second issue, Prowl doesn't itself cause damage, but assuming Rabid stacks with it (which I guess should be an open question) there would be a benefit to having Rabid first, no?
