not sure if this is the right topic to ask, but since i cant get the spreadsheet working for some reason i ask it here:
I am aware tier 7 isnt the best choice as hunter, but i was wondering wether the 5% increased petdmg is worth the two slots.
For example i got tier 7 chest legs and shoulders.
For both chest and legs i got better options the legs from Hos( [Leggings of the Stone Halls])
and the chest from rep ( [Polished Regimental Hauberk]) and the one from heigan ( [Tunic of the Lost Pack])
all of them are better than the tier ones, but the bonus might make it better. Anyone got some numbers to confince me what is better.
And maybe someone who can sent me a manuel for spreadsheet since it would be great if i understood that aswell (i am dutch, maybe that makes it harder for me)

Even so, the Devilsaur suffers from that horrible thumping and hitbox issue. It would have to be considerably better to be worth using. I mean, it is fun and all having T-Rex chew on bosses and pissing off the melee, but it gets tiresome real fast.
T7 as a full set is hardly worth it considering the alternatives. However the two-set bonus is great, and I would say that the shoulders and helmet are the best options. The rest are 'easily' found otherwise. That's for 10-man, 25-man sends T7 a fair bit up in value, and you would generally need the better offpieces in raiding to do better.

I'd definitely agree the devilsaur hitbox is god awful. Its something I tried to get changed in beta but never got any real steam on the forums. Pretty sure it has to do with the size increase from monstrous bite but i guess that obvious. Anyway, it seems like there is a little rumor going around about spirit beasts benefiting from magic dmg increasing debuffs. I have no way of currently testing this because I HATE LOQUE AND BLIZZARD'S RETARDED IDEA OF MAKING THE ONLY MOB OF THE FAMILY A RARE SPAWN! I would however like to know if this is actually true, and what kind of effect it is having on spirit beast dps. Probably an unintended part of the pet ability, but definitely something worth looking into if someone has the ability to test it.

It's arcane damage, so it benefits from Curse of Elements and the like. All of the nature damage inflicting pets (wasps, scorpids) get the same benefit.

Indeed. But unlike either of those it seems Spirit Strikes scales off spellpower rather than AP. And that makes it a weakly scaling ability, especially since it can't crit (and if it could it would likely crit with 150% unlike Sting). The Spirit Beast is just a poorly constructed pet for it's position as the only real Exotic alternative to the Devilsaur. It really seems like it has been made from a "omg that would be so cool, lets make it" frame of mind.

I'd still like to see some numbers on it, but that sounds pretty much like what I expected. I really hope blizzard gives up on the idea of exotic pets and gives us a 51 point talent that is worth a damn. Someone over there has to have a better idea than giving us four extra pet talent points and some useless pets that are worse than the only 2 pets in the game that have EVER been worth a damn.

BM dead with 3.0.8
I guess I need to get onto the PTR and test things myself... but I am hearing that BM is "dead" with 3.0.8 and that Survival is the new top DPS spec. Any truth to this rumor?

On the current PTR that seems to be true. But I find it very unlikely that Blizzard will let the current PTR build go live when their intention was to nerf hunters.

If I do my typical routine of BW+Rapid Fire, Readiness, BW+Rapid Fire on live servers as BM, I usually get around 2900 DPS on the heroic dummy.
As Survival on the PTR, I can do 3400-3600 DPS on the same dummy using either Sniper Training or "trap-dancing," so yeah...quite an odd nerf.
Then again, many classes are catching up to BM in stationary fight DPS anyway. The only DPS classes that *aren't* going to catch hunters anytime soon are ret paladins and shadow priests (hybrid classes with a lot more raid utility).

Valorous legs (best in slot), Heroes' legs, Failed Escape, Colossal Strides, Infectious Skitterer, Leggings of the Honored and Fleeting Moments are all better than those, heh. If you count the fact that Colossal Strides are bugged and give 200 extra AP until patch 3.0.8 hits, then they are the best by far.
Valorous gloves are best in slot.
Valorous shoulders are second best in slot on paper, and close enough to best if you're a JC who already has 3 Dragon's Eyes in use.
Valorous helm is only beaten by the ridiculous Malygos-25 helm or Helm of the Grave, though it is behind those by a fair margin.
Valorous chest is technically the worst piece in the set if you don't need the hit, but still an upgrade over Polished Regimental Hauberk and Lost Pack.

We also had no call of the wilds as the new hunter didn't respec his pet. I got slightly screwed by the auto shot RNG but I guess it's not so big. I guess if patch won't go live next week we might be close to two minute kill as the fourth rogue will be HAT and we'll go with 5 healers.
Wow Web Stats
Only log I found close was this. They had five cats and 25 second faster kill time though. :>

Wow Web Stats
6187 over 3:38. No minor armor debuff was used.
This was with 1/3 Cobra Strikes and 1/2 GftT. 3/3 Cobra definitely looks like the right way to go for short fights, but I disagree with your assertion that 1/2 GftT is enough (not for my raid buffed crit rate least). My Claw DPS went down significantly after swapping one point out of GftT.

Otherwise, really impressive. I'm pulling 5800ish with a Scorpid and my gear is better, aside from the bugged leggings.
EDIT: On the subject of T7 tokens and best in slot gear, it all really depends on your spec and other gear. The old "use the spreadsheet" mantra really applies here. That said, I think if you want 4-piece, using Blue Aspect Helm and the other four pieces will always be optimal because of the raw ilevel difference between the helm choices. If you only want two piece, Shoulders + something else (depending on what you have) seems like the way to go.

Curious if there is a posting or *definitive guide* on best in slot items for each spec/build? Just using the armory "..find upgrade" puts the item rankings and best in slot positions almost perfectly in line with what you've posted, however not the gloves and chest. +Hit is definitely a consideration IMO when choosing best in slot items for your current wardrobe but it also seems to me that +haste is being ranked up there in all of the top ranking items which I thought was pretty much meh for BM?
I've been collecting the 2-3 highest pieces from each and trying them in diff combos but I'd like to maintain the 2 piece set bonus and was hoping to keep shoulders + chest as my T7.5 and use other items in the remaining slots.
Hadn't noticed the extra 200 AP from Colossal Strides... will check tonight.

Mmm, you're right...totally forgot about Faerie Fire. For some reason I keep thinking it's a major.
As for which items for 2pc. Probably shoulders and legs, and then using Grotesque Handgrips for gloves.

Like the poster I quoted above says, just use the spreadsheet. If you don't have Excel, Rawr is *ok* for basic gear modeling. Gloves are definitely up there...It has a significant amount of 'green' AP as well as decent agi and int. The ArP and haste are meh, but in copious amounts. Don't forget how valuable a gem socket is as well. I especially overvalue sockets because I'm a JC.
+Hit is a consideration, but I am not inclined to enchant/gem for hit over 263 or so. Right now I have +56 hit from gems and enchants, so that's really just two items difference before I can regem/reenchant completely out of +hit.
