You will always lose a bit of DPS when you move as a hunter, as it eliminates steady shot from your rotation, If, however, you time your movement to coincide with a few instants, you will mitigate your losses. The extra lock and load you get from it has to do more damage than you lose getting the trap placed, but since a survival hunter gets free explosive shots, I think that it's worth it.
Of course on any boss with adds, it's trivial. Maexxna, for example, provides very handy little spiders that will happily set a trap off for you.

When calculating the hit cap for a dwarf hunter using a gun, would the +5 to guns be equivalent to having 3 points in Focused Aim?

I think you missed a note somewhere. Racials no longer give weapon skill. In the case of dwarves, you now get +1% to crit.

I am using Power Auras to tell me when serpent sting falls off, when explosive shot and aimed shot are up. It works very well.
It seems that it should be able to tell you when you should use Tranq shot as well, based on buff(s) the target has. Has anyone set it up to do this, or has the name(s) of the buff to look for?

hi
i checked web and made topics on wow forum a few times but mostly no answers or people didnt have any idea;
my confusion is about shot schools, i have seen my abilities blocked by warriors and paladins and also do reduced damage to dk's when they have anti-magic shield on.
are hunter shots magic or physical, if physical why they do reduced damage when anti-magic shield on or if magic why they getting blocked and not getting haste benefit to their gcd while magic and how armor penetration stat effects them if it does.
also i have another question about disarm, why when i disarm a warrior or rogue they can use ranged weapons and when i get disarmed i cant use any.

edit:correct me if i am wrong i didnt have much chance to make more observations and not much on web about it.

I went and read some of the posts and I'd just like to know what the general rotation is for SV when the target is above 20% HP?

serpent sting>ES>steady shot till ES is up, and when LnL procs you can use ES>arcane>ES or ES>steady>ES>steady
and you better ask this in survival topic.

Your steady shot, aimed shot and autoshot are all physical, while chimera shot , explosive shot, arcane shot and serpent sting is spell.
About the disarm issue, every disarm only removes melee weapons except for rogue dismantle, which is the only disarm ability that removes ranged weapons too.

I have a question about scopes, more precise the Diamond-cut Refractor Scope.
Is the damage from the scope calculated before or after damage bonuses from shots and talents?
For example if I'm MM with Ranged Weapon Specialization (RWS). Do it count it like:
(WeaponDMG+ScopeDMG) * RWS
or
(WeaponDMG*RWS)+ScopeDMG
Also do all shots that are affected by weapon damage affected by scope damage before or after the bonuses? Eg Chimera shot?

I have a question regarding MD.
Today in naxx 10-man I pulled the bosses as usual with MD so the tank has no probs holding aggro, but it seemed as if only the first shot gave aggro profit to the tank, after the second and third shot I had aggro.
Has anyone made the same experience?

If the first shot you used for the MD was Explosive Shot, and assuming your tank didn't build up significant threat after that (or he was positioning the boss) then your shots after Explosive might have counted against you as far as aggro since I'm pretty sure each tick of Explosive Shot will consume a MD charge.

Tonight in Naxx my fellow Hunters and I all experienced a very strange bug with FD. Immediately after Feigning and getting back up, our threat was restored as if we'd only Shadowmelded. Has anyone else experienced this, or has there been any word from Blizzard if it's a known bug?

I've noticed this behaviour many times. When you FD don't get up immediately, wait at least 1 second - your threat should be reset correctly.

*sigh* this rumour keeps perpetuating itself... All reliable testing that I have seen shows absolutely no link between time spent FD and whether or not threat is wiped. FD is always instant, regardless if the animation fully shows, or if you lie there 0,5s , 1s, 2s , 123178 seconds.
If it looks like threat was dropped, and then reappeared, most likely it was a resist that Omen reports as "false positive", and then when you get up it gets corrected. It is a display bug, not a mechanic bug.
Also, the person who posted a rotation for LnL procs above, it is incorrect to use Arcane, as that wastes a LnL charge. I suppose the poster may have meant Aimed Shot. Either Steady or Aimed (if specced) or Multi-Shot works fine, the important thing is to squeeze in another shot to wait for the 2nd tick of ExS before firing the next ExS.

Since Omen now uses the Blizzard Threat API and doesn't calculate any threat values on its own, I don't think it can have false positives.

As well as what the above poster said, I'm fairly certain it has to do with latency rather then animation time and the server not registering it for whatever reason.
Also, is there a new clear best DPS pet other then cats since the nerf, or what are the equal alternatives?

I'm sorry I should have been more specific. This was a reproducible bug, and definitely was NOT a resist. All 3 of our Hunters tried multiple times to drop threat and it only worked about half of the time. We couldn't find any sort of pattern to it.

For Survival, I'm seeing the best pet as Wasp if your raid isn't already bringing a minor armor debuff, otherwise Raptor. Cat is a bit behind Raptor. Note that Wasp sting does stack with major armor debuffs, like Expose and Sunder.

As SV spec, how much crit % unbuffed should I strive to achieve before stacking on agi and ap? Of course, I know that hit will come first. Btw, 80 agi would give 1% crit right?
If I put 5 points into AotH, how much haste rating do I need?
I've looked in the SV forums, especially the first page, and did not see any exact no.s there. I dare not post there since these questions are probably considered amateur. Thanks.

If you pulled with explosive as an opening the ticks count as dmg so, ES then an auto sneeks in and u aim shot you are now primary aggro if the tank is not all over it.
