Question: If you stroll around on the hunter forums you often come across a rule saying "Wait before you fire the 2 and 3 explosive shot on a L&L proc to maximise DPS due to the tics" Some peeps say "Wait 0.5sec" other "Wait a global cooldown" and I've even read "a GBC + 0.5sec"
So which one is it ? Thanks in advance // Pagimo

There are two ways to deal with LnL procs:
1) ES - random shot - ES - random shot - ES; random shot can be any shot you need to fire at that point (Kill Shot, serpent sting, Aimed Shot, Steady Shot)
2) ES - wait 0.5 seconds after the GCD has expired - ES - wait 0.5 seconds after GCD has expired - ES
In theory option (2) yields higher dps, but requires very low latency and you can't afford to shoot your ES
sooner than 0.5 seconds after GCD has expired. As you probably know, the GCD for a hunter is always 1.5 seconds, and an explosive shot ticks 3 times; once when the shot hits the target, once more 1 second after, and last tick 2 seconds after application (which isnt 2 seconds after you actually fired the shot, since it has to physically move through the air to reach the target, however, this is irrelevant for timers, since every Explosive Shot you fire afterwards will also have to fly through the air in the same timeframe)
So, the idea is to make sure your next explosive shot hits the target
just after the previous explosive shot ticks for the third time. It takes practice, and you have to setup your UI in such a way that it's easier to monitor the timers. In my case i added a simple line to my explosive shot macro (requires Quartz cast bars addon):
/qt Explosive 2
Whenever i fire Explosive Shot, it also starts a 2 second timer on the mirror bar (which you can move). When the timer has finished, you can fire the next Explosive (the previous one will still be ticking on your target at this point, but your next Explosive still has to travel through the air of course).
