PAWN strings thread
If anyone has PAWN strings they have found to be useful when trying to reduce the time needed to choose quest rewards, please share them here. Please be as descriptive as you can when naming them- for example, if it's a chain that doesn't value haste but does value AP and int for a BM spec hunter on his way to 80, indicate that.

EDIT: if you post a pawn string, please ensure that it's supported by data from the DPS spreadsheet. |
I can do you one better. You can build this into your DPS spreadsheet to reflect realtime what your pawn values are. Takes 2 seconds to rebuild as you go. Import the settings and so forth.
I won't tell you to "use the search function" as this was a very specific item housed in the DPS spreadsheet thread (I think it should be incorporated into the sheet itself IMO!) See the following: http://elitistjerks.com/f74/t30710-w...24/#post982195 |

I used to think having PAWN strings to be useless, but just rough values for under-hitcap and hitcap-reached values could be nice for those hunters levelling.
You can get up-to-the-minute accurate values using the spreadsheet, but I suppose not everyone has access to Excel (and it doesn't work for OpenOffice yet). And there is a learning curve to getting things working right in the spreadsheet, but having to change the custom equipment for any items not max level gets to be a hassle. I will continue to use the spreadsheet, I am speaking more of the common masses, but then that does go against what this forum and its threads are about, which is maxxed out raiding specs and gear. |

Lvl 80 with Blue quest gear
( Pawn: v1: "Hunter DPS": Intellect=1.4285714285714, RangedDps=24.822695035461, CritRating=1.8557489245935, IsBow=85.178875638842, HitRating=3.0497112568911, Agility=2.4507179403261, HasteRating=2.8587469599654, Stamina=1, Armor=0.01, Rap=1.4285714285714, ArmorPenetration=2.1651629736477, Ap=1.4285714285714 )
This is with int = AP. This takes into consideration my current stats of 600 base DPS, 6.88% haste rating, 0 hit rating, 17.54% armor Pen, and 16.7% crit. (for elaboration, Adding 1% crit means more to someone with 0% crit than it does for someone with 30% crit.. same with haste and hit, but not armor pen which means MORE to someone with higher armor pen) If they are at 0% crit, they are doing 100% damage. if they are at 30% crit they are doing 130% damage. (assuming no mortal strikes... which I need to go add to mine now that I think of it) It also assumes leather/mail on your target and they have 30% damage redux from armor. It also assumes you want 1 stam per 2.45 agi per 100 armor class. I'm in mostly quest blues with 2 epics, the Drake-Mounted Crossbow with +15 damage scope, and Band of the Kirin Tor. Only enchants are +114 ap to wrists and 75 ap 22 crit to pants (both LW only) That should cover everything in detail. Char name is Omani on Baelgun if you wish to see my gear/stats in better detail. |
( Pawn: v1: "Survival": Intellect=6, Agility=9, YellowSocket=144, ArmorPenetration=5, Mp5=7, Ap=4, CritRating=5, HasteRating=3, RedSocket=144, Stamina=4, HitRating=10, BlueSocket=144, MetaSocket=189 )
( Pawn: v1: "Marksmanship": Intellect=8, RedSocket=128, CritRating=5, MetaSocket=168, HitRating=10, Agility=7, HasteRating=3, BlueSocket=128, YellowSocket=128, ArmorPenetration=6, Mp5=8, Ap=4 ) ( Pawn: v1: "Beast Mastery": Intellect=7, RedSocket=128, CritRating=5, MetaSocket=168, HitRating=10, Agility=7, HasteRating=2, BlueSocket=128, YellowSocket=128, ArmorPenetration=6, Mp5=8, Ap=4 ) Explanation here. |
Above is a screenshot of the Overview tab from the http://elitistjerks.com/f74/t30710-w...s_spreadsheet/ The spreadsheet adjusts with your current stats as well as the buffs you define. Because of the fact that agi/hit/crit/ap/haste all scale in value dependant on one another and the buffs you have there is never going to be a defined set of numbers for PAWN. Use the spreadsheet and the numbers it provides. |

The spreadsheet is good but has a LOT of extra stuff for raid settings, like raid buffs and stuff that is hard for a novice to figure out. Obviously it has its place, this forum is for raiding... but the pawn is nice for levelling and questing, because having to fill in custom values and recalculate every time you finish a quest isn't fun.
I eyeballed the numbers and based on what Sympa posted, the ratios seem about the same between the two, if you just look at relative importance of stats... int on the spreadsheet one looks a little bit higher, but that is all I can tell just from a quick scan (I think spreadsheet factors in certain length boss fights, thus having a certain size mana pool, or maybe the pawn strings from tka just didn't account for careful aim enough). |
anyone have any new pawn values for the latest patch?
|
Use the spreadsheet. Just turn off all the buffs before you hit CalcAttributes if you don't want a "raid-ready" string. If you're looking for PAWN strings for anything prior to level 80, then the various strings in the PAWN forums are probably just as good as anything else
