It is about time now That I upload the latest and probably last version of my User Interface. Some of you already know and and some of you do not. Since this thread is about assisting other hunters as well I'll talk about some of the tidbits I've added as icing on the cake in my UI as well as how and why it is constructed the way it is. I'm betting my post will get reported however, the OP asked for writing about why.
First and foremost In designing my UI i had to first analyze what I didn't like about default UI. Default UI has information splayed all around the screen, pretty much in every corner in addition to he bottom row. This is is fine on a small screen where the eye doesn't really have to pan too far in order for the player to see what they need to. And lets be honest, wow has been around for a long time. However there is a large volume of players who now play on much larger screen spaces and to use default UI on my own monitor for example is to condemn myself to panning all the way cross my screen to see important information like cool down usage and the bottom from player/target frames at the top. It just didn't work.
I set out to rectify the main issues I had. - The elements of the UI I cared about were simply too far apart to view at one time with ease.
- The UI itself didn’t really compliment its individual parts; even though each part of the UI performed its function, the way it displayed information on the screen it worked against itself.
- The UI took up far too much screen space.
To address these problems I came up with the idea of aligning all the information I really needed into a single vertical column of information. Displaying information this way really does two things. 1. It defines a space within which to build content. 2. Because of the nature of the space defined it allows you to easily set up a hierarchy of content.
I wont go into a huge amount of nitty gritty detail about how my UI is set up farther than what I've already discussed but onto the tidbits I added to really customize this UI specifically for my hunter. I've custom coded Eventhorizon for survival and marksmanship, if you don't know the addon its used to display rotations in a bar format. The current setup for survival is Black Arrow, Serpent Sting, Explosive Shot, Aimed Shot, Kill Shot, Steady Shot. For Marksman, Black Arrow disappears, explosive is replaced by Chimera, and Arcane shot is added below Aimed. (Their rotations respectively). Additionally for survival I have added some custom dogtags for lock and load. To the left of the player frame Text will appare within parenthesis, first in yellow, then in orange, and fianlly red coutnign down the uptime of loack and load. I did this simply because I didn't feel an addon like NeedToKnow or PowerAuras was really necessary for something so simple.
For more information or to download the UI simply click the image.

Updated UI
I got tired of the "leafy" feel of my last ui, and wanted something a little more modern looking.
Grid has been a tad touchy for me lately, but it usually goes in the top left corner.
Built Using a modicum of addons. Using a total of about 8mb.

What I whipped up today to replace my lost UI from a HD crash.
Recount fades in combat and is replaced by Omen.
Btex with a custom skin, Sexymap for visuals.
Dominos and Pitbull for buttons and unit frames.
Still need some tweaking to squeeze in a few more keybinds but I love the open space for actually watching the game instead of the UI.

Is there an addon to create more usable pet buttons than the standard number? I hate going back into the spell book whenever my pet "resets" itself.

I just have two macros on my bars that I click a couple times to reset the pet to the appropriate response. Mainly they just make sure cower is always off and that growl is either on or off depending on solo'ing or instance'ing. They're pretty close to the char limit, so if you have any other skills to turn on or off just remove claw if it's not relevant etc. Or I'm sure there's a way to condense down the autocaston and autocastoffs to reduce character usage but it's never been pressing to me.
This one makes the pet growl
/petautocaston Growl
/petautocastoff Cower
/petautocastoff Call of the Wild
/petautocaston Bite
/petautocaston Claw
/petautocaston Furious Howl
/petautocaston Rabid
/run ChatFrame1:AddMessage("Growl is \124cFFFFFF00ON.")
This one turns off growl
/petautocastoff Growl
/petautocastoff Cower
/petautocastoff Call of the Wild
/petautocaston Bite
/petautocaston Claw
/petautocaston Furious Howl
/petautocaston Rabid
/run ChatFrame1:AddMessage("Growl is \124cFF00FF00OFF.")

I tweaked Power Auras a bit to help with my shot rotation/cooldowns. The small red icon is Explosive Shot. The icon appears when it's available. The red text timer below the cast bar is the cooldown timer for Explosive Shot. The white icon is Aimed or Multi depending on spec. Next to that is a similar icon for Black Arrow, it has 15 seconds on cooldown. When kill shot is available a small icon appears to the right side to let me know.
Quartz cast bar with Target debuffs on shows the black arrow and serpent sting timers near the cast bar. PA didnt track Serpent Sting as accurately as Quartz does.
I sorted Elkanos Buff Bars in several categories. Top left shows critical raid buffs, below that is pet buffs (oops forgot pet treat for this fight), next to that is other combat buffs/procs. Important buffs are on a separate bar right above my player bar.
Any feedback is appreciated.

Can I ask what is the cooldown timer you used for "steady shot" bar shown in the center of the screen? I've also noticed the white x2 zero, the purple 15, the red x2 zero, and the two icons just above the steady shot cooldown bar. It would be great if I can get something similiar for my alt hunter.
Finally, I really like your UI, looks simple and clean. Good job.

Does anyone know of a cooldown timer, not EventHorizon, Watcher or simiarl, but something like OmniCC that will show a more precise timer? Basically, I think EventHorizon and so on is a bit too messy for my interface and I don't really need them. But what I really would like is that that the cooldown timer on my buttons didn't just show 1 or 2, but showed 1.7 or similar and did not hide the cooldown when it's less than 2 (it seems).
It leads to some timing mismatches, which is somewhat annoying really.

Looking really nice Slaughtt. I would LOVE to see a raid shot of this!!! Question though.
Why are you using eePanels now? I thought it wasn't being updated. I switched to KGPanels not too long ago and I love it =)

Never really needed to update my panels and they seem to work the same with everything, including parenting.
But I can't really get a raid shot for a little bit, so I uploaded the UI, only scales properly with a 1680x1050 widescreen though :\

I'm getting tired of my X-Perl UF (been using them for years), so i repeatedly tried to configure Pitbull to my needs. I like the look of configurations like this (primarily the stretched portrait), but don't know how to get there.
Is there a good source for premade Pitbull-Configs? The ones on the official pitbull-board seem to be outdated.

If you're just now getting into Pitbull, you'd be better off jumping ahead to Pitbull 4. It's still a bit beta, but I've been using it for several weeks now and it does well. There aren't any preset configs that I know of for it (yet), but it's really not that bad to setup if you spend some time on it.
