I am affraid that in your case, there are small things here and there wich gather and form a difference when dpsing :
One of the examples could be the not so well comboed gear, as your missing some good AP there ( keep in mind that a player needs to combo the best pieces to get a good result, and not just pick whatever is best in slot. because the overall stats are going to be messed up )
Some other example is the talent choice, where i can say that 6/14/51 is the better choice when having a dps race ( even the sniper training is a nice tool to have in many situations )
One small and other example that i noticed , is the missing buffs during a fight like patchwerk ( you dint had the +10% AP buff, and neither used the haste potion ) . Saving call of the wild for heroism is also a good ideea - that if you are not doing it
About the shot rotation, i can tell you that im not using the trap dancing ideea, and i just prefer to focus on a good shot rotation whitout messing the CD¨s , while my results on a fight like patchwerk are like 5.5k dps

Ummm, potential DK DPS is out doing potential Hunter DPS at the moment. Of course this varies from fight to fight, Sapphiron and Heigen the Hunter will prevail, but in Patch and other stand and bash fights DK's are laying the smackdown. Along with Mages and Elemental Shammies.
But yes, the OP is missing a lot of buffs in his raid, and if you want to improve overall raid DPS consider bringing in some buffing classes. You had only 1 Pally, no DPS warriors, although you did have LotP. Buffs will help you tremendously, as will getting rid of your Titanium Weapon Chain. 28 hit vs 110AP is a easy choice, get Massacre and add 24 hit through either 3 Glinting Monarch Topaz's or 1 Rigid Autumns Glow and 1 Glinting Monarch Topaz. You are currently at 269 which is 6 over hit cap so this is better itemization anyhow since you should end up with 265.

Excuse me if this has already been posted, I looked and saw a bit of discussion but nothing on this most recent change. The Furious Howl buff from wolves now stacks with all other AP buffs.
Furious Howl changes
The original LK idea was to make it a substitute for Battle Shout / Blessing of Might. We took a similar tact with several of the pets being able to bring great buffs if you were missing them. Unfortuntely, those buffs tend to be exceedingly common and wolves are such an iconic WoW creature that it felt unfortunate for them to be sidelined.
The new ability *stacks* with those buffs. It only affects the hunter and her wolf. We changed the cooldown and duration because we thought it was more interesting to try and time your cooldowns (like burn Rapid Shot during Howl) rather than just have the bonus up 100% of the time.
|
After having a look on PTR The new stats are 304 ranged and melee AP to the hunter and his pet for 20 seconds, with a 40 second cooldown. I am curious to see if this new stacking AP bonus will outweigh the dps offered by other pets. I'd like to run the numbers on it.
Edit- I just realized the wolf I checked it with is level 77, there may be another rank with a higher increase to AP.

Furious Howl is actually one rank that scales with the pet's level. At 80 it is 312 (314?) I believe.

Excuse my terminology, I knew it scaled and I still posted about ranks. Thanks though I did not know the number that it reached.
Has it been mentioned that LnL can now chain proc? I saw a few posts pertaining to this in questioning if the 30s CD was removed. After a bit of PTR testing I can confirm that I received 2 procs of LnL back to back within the duration of one Black Arrow, without any other triggers on the dummy. If this has already been determined and posted, my apologies I must have missed it.

Hm, more than 170 Attack Power, evened out. This seems pretty strong, I doubt that Rake or the raptors special (forgot the name) will provide better dps for non-BMs. Wolves could actually become pretty interesting.

What am i doing wrong?
I have been reading the forums for a little while and trying to put into practice all the things that a good survival hunter should... but I still seem to be having a problem with DPS. I would greatly appreciate any help or advice, so here is how I am set up.
The World of Warcraft Armory
I am running the standard 6/14/51 Survival spec
with a shot rotation of
SS>KS>ES>MS>SS>SS
LNL = ES wait .5s X3
I know that my gear is still on the very low end.. but I should be doing better the Spreadsheet says around 3.3k in a 25man and 1.6 unbuffed
and I am only consistently pulling about 2200 in Raid and 1400 unbuffed... Wow Web Stats
what do you guys think...

You miss a lot. When you look at wws reports don't include the trash. Look at each individual boss kill. Patchwerk was 3k for you. 8% miss is terrible.

It will almost certainly always depend on gear/buffs/encounter. Check for your case in the spreadsheet.

Just wondering if anyone can take a quick look at my spec/gear
The World of Warcraft Armory
I've ran the spreadsheet and it says i should be pulling 5.4k dps. I don't have any recent WWS reports right now, but I was wondering what sort of DPS you guys think I should be doing? My last WWS report was a couple of weeks ago and I've upgraded a bit of gear since then (about 70agi more now). On that WWS I did 4.6k dps on patch with only 2 LnL's procing (I don't trap dance usually).
Also, if you could critic my spec as well.. I had 3 points left over so I just banged an extra one in Imp Hawk and 2 in Imp stings. I've read that imp stings is a waste of points.. but I was struggling to think of other places to put them. Also I know I only need 1 point in imp stings with the the glyph, but again, didn't really know where else to put it
Cheers for any advice

According to the spreadsheet, the ranking would indeed be Fury of the Five Flights, Mirror of Truth, then Bandit's. Nobles deck beats all three for survival by ~100 dps, but those three are typically within 10 dps of each other, with FotFF and MoT being 2nd and 3rd BiS, respectively.
If you can get FotFF in a pug, go for it. If it costs DKP, however, I might wait. Ulduar will surely add more trinkets to our selection.

Hello all,
I would appreciate some dps advice, as I just do not see what I'm doing wrong. I keep reading about hunters putting up 6k dps and looking at posts showing 6.7k dps potential in the spreadsheet, but I can't seem to break 5k myself.
I run a 1/18/52 SV build which seems pretty standard. I have glyphs for Serpent Sting, Steady Shot, and Aspect of the Hawk. I use Mammoth Cutters for ammo on all boss fights, along with Flask of Endless Rage and either 80 atk pwr food or 40 crit rating food.
My shot rotation includes keeping Serpent Sting on the target at all times, then Explosive shot -> Steady Shot until L&L procs at which point I alternate Explosive and Arcane. I've tried also weaving in Multi-shot but I did not see much of an increase and mana became an issue. I also do not do the trap dancing, but try to stay at Sniper Training distance.
I use a cat for a pet with the standard spec with the exception that I got HotP instead of CotW.

I know that I have to be missing something, but I just don't see the issue. Thank you in advance for any advice.

Start by reading every post in this thread.
For starters, dont ever use arcane shot ever ever ever.
es > es > es LnL procs. But, be sure to not clip a tick.

As SV you should never use arcane shot. This means two things: you can take the point from imp. arcane shot and move it into aimed shot, and you do your LnL proc differently. Right now I believe it's accepted to fire 3 explosive shots adding an extra 0.5s delay for a total of 2s between each, to let the DoT tick off. I you want to alternate shots, alternate explosive with steady/aimed shot, which is inferior but pretty close.
Note that speccing into aimed shot means you will prioritize it over steady shot. If for whatever reason you don't take aimed shot (there is a good 6/14/51 spec that doesn't take it) you should be using multishot instead whenever the AoE isn't a problem.
