Namarus, I ran your setup through, but with leatherworking and inscription as those are my profs. Freshly downloaded spreadsheet, all I did was update raid buffs to maximum.
Naramus: 5232.08 hunter dps
Neruse: 5241.29 hunter dps
It's possible that the choice of JC and enchanting makes your choices 6 dps better, but for my professions my setup wins out.
Edit: 6627.67 dps (5502.02 hunter, 1125.65 raptor) 6774 AP, 55.74% crit, Night Elf, LWking+Inscrip
Melee - [Journey's End] + Massacre
Helm - [Blue Aspect Helm] + Arc of Ferocity + Delicate Scarlet Ruby
Neck - [Favor of the Dragon Queen] + Delicate Scarlet Ruby
Shoulders - [Valorous Cryptstalker Spaulders] + Master's Inscrip of the Axe, Delicate Scarlet Ruby
Back - [Drape of the Deadly Foe] + 22 AGI
Chest - [Valorous Cryptstalker Tunic] + Delicate Scarlet Ruby x2
Wrist - [Slime Stream Bands] + Fur Lining + Delicate Scarlet Ruby
Hands - [Frosted Adroit Handguards] + 20 AGI
Waist - [Torn Web Wrapping] + Buckled Delicate Scarlet Ruby
Legs - [Leggings of Failed Escape] + Delicate Scarlet Ruby, Vivid Forest Emerald
Feet - [Boots of the Renewed Flight] + 16 AGI
Ring 1 - [Surge Needle Ring]
Ring 2 - [Strong-Handed Ring]
Trinket 1 - [Fury of the Five Flights]
Trinket 2 - [Darkmoon Card: Greatness]
Ranged - [Envoy of Mortality] + Heartseeker Scope

Gems are agi/stam one blue socket, and an agi/crit gem in a yellow for the meta. Agi in all remaining slots. No profession related bonuses are used on any gear. Spec, as mentioned above, is 1/18/52 and using the most current spreadsheet release. The DPS number is Total DPS including pet damage (cat).
Also, when plugging in the set you posted earlier i got 123 DPS higher than you reported it as returning for some reason I can not figure out.
p.s. I can't seem to get my wowhead links to work so just typed item names.
Edit: after a little more tweaking with gems and remembering to use the 67.5 DPS ammo it now shows 6063.86 predicted DPS.
|
What glyphs are you using with that spec to see the 6063 DPS?

Frosted Adroit Handguards are NOT BiS for any spec. It's showing as such in the spreadsheet due to a bug with hit being calculated as a DPS gain over 8%. To check this, see how much hit you need to cap (in Overview) and subtract how much you're over in the hand-adjust column.

Shandara claims the bug exists when over 101% hit. I have 100.15% (267 rating); 100.15 < 101. Also, it's pretty obvious that Frosted Adroit > Calculated Risk/Cryptstalker/etc, when all the hit is being used.
Edit: Hmm, some funky going-ons in the spreadsheet. Whelp, have to wait till next version then.

A couple things could be affecting it, for example shot rotations, talents, where rapid fire is used, also I'm not 100% sure I have the most up to date spreadsheet. (Something I will look into.)
I don't include pets because just yet I'm not 100% sure which is the most optimal pet just yet. Is there a particular preference in terms of pet, and what talents the pet should have?

Btw what pet are you intending to use. Right now the spreadsheet is listing a raptor as being slightly a head of a cat, and way ahead of a scorpid. (Thanks for the previous posters about the huge nerf.)

My glyphs used to get that are IAotH, Serpent Sting, and Steady Shot. My shot rotation is Rapid Fire>Blood Fury>Explosive>Serpent>Aimed>Steady. Blood Fury is included because all my numbers assume an orc as that is the race I actually play.

I've actually been waiting for this sort of discussion to start up, as I am all about cranking every point of dps out my gear.
The theoretical dps I can pull from this list is 6416.77: Hunter: 5307.58 | Pet: 1109.19
I am a Troll, and my pet is a Cat.
I've found there's no way to tell the spreadsheet that someone else is using imp hunters mark or the glyph, so I imagine it could possibly be a little higher in an ideal situation in-game.
Spec: 2/18/51
Pet Spec: Cat
Glyphs: SS, SerpS, AotH
Buffs: All except Draenei aura and scroll for pet and self. Consumables: Flask of Endless Rage, Blackened Dragonfin
Gear:
Shot Rotation: RF, SerpS, ES, AimedS, Berserk, KS, SS.
Melee- [Black Ice][Formula: Enchant 2H Weapon - Massacre]
Head- [Blue Aspect Helm][Arcanum of Torment][Relentless Earthsiege Diamond][Rigid Autumn's Glow]
Neck- [Favor of the Dragon Queen][Delicate Scarlet Ruby]
Shoulders- [Valorous Cryptstalker Spaulders][Greater Inscription of the Axe][Delicate Scarlet Ruby]
Back- [Drape of the Deadly Foe][Enchant Cloak - Major Agility]
Chest- [Chestguard of Flagrant Prowess][Formula: Enchant Chest - Powerful Stats][Delicate Scarlet Ruby][Perfect Shifting Shadow Crystal]
Wrist- [Slime Stream Bands]LWing- 114 AP [Delicate Scarlet Ruby]
Hands- [Valorous Cryptstalker Handguards][Enchant Gloves - Major Agility][Delicate Scarlet Ruby]
Wasit - [Torn Web Wrapping][Delicate Scarlet Ruby]
Legs- [Leggings of Failed Escape][Icescale Leg Armor][Delicate Scarlet Ruby]x2
Feet- [Boots of the Renewed Flight] [Formula: Enchant Boots - Superior Agility]
Ring - [Strong-Handed Ring]
Ring - [Surge Needle Ring]
Trinket - Darkmoon Card: Greatness
Trinket - [Fury of the Five Flights]
Ranged Weapon - [Envoy of Mortality][Heartseeker Scope][Mammoth Cutters]
Edit: Oh, I'm also LW/Eng, so I'm sure you could crank out more dps as BS/JC
Edit2: This is using the most recent spreadsheet, 82.

Looking at your numbers, and factoring them in with JC, enchanting which are my professions, I am slightly behind you, but that is probably because I'm a dwarf. Still the numbers are impressive. With only 0.14% crit over that which is necessary.
I think it's interesting that most of the gear choices so far are so relatively close to each other.

Using version 81g of the spreadsheet, the total DPS is 6344.36 (Hunter:5115.30, Pet:1510.17).
This assumes Dwarf for the crit bonus - Night Elf #s drop to total DPS of 6321.58 (Hunter:5092.79, Pet:1610.54).

How are you getting such high pet damage numbers? The best I can achieve with a raptor is only around 1.2k.

When writing the post, I was pulling pet DPS from the "Pet DPS Breakdown" box on the Overview tab, which appears to have a bug - the 4th line is Claw DPS, which is already included in line 2, Special DPS. I'll update the previous post with the right pet DPS #s in a few minutes after I finish moving to version 82 of the spreadsheet.
The total DPS isn't affected by this bug, so should still be accurate.

We seem to be almost unanimous on everything but chest + leg combos.
I suspect the primary factor in choosing chest A + legs B over chest C + legs D, is JC. Prismatic gems allowing socket bonuses, for blue sockets usually, may be the factor pushing certain pieces past others.
Going for the complete min/max factor? Go Jewelcrafting + Blacksmithing.
Edit: I updated post #576 to reflect my results with v82 of the spreadsheet.

Neruse, I am concerned with regards to your use of leather gloves in your suggestion. Your losing around 40-43 intelligence going with the leather option, and all the related bonuses associated with that.
With fights lasting a lot longer in Uldar, probably, do you think this is a wise course of action?

The leather gloves are just that good.
As for mana in a long fight; it's only 600 mana of ~14k buffed. For that to make a noticable difference the fight would have to be 10+ minutes long.
But, there are [Demonic Rune] for that.

From what I'm seeing here many people are not considering the 2 set bonus from T7, any reason for that?

All the gear sets listed as max dps have at least two pieces of the valorous cryptstalker set. What do you mean, exactly?

Was actually refering to Namarus' armory and I think i've seen his "optimal gear list" with just t7 shoulders, but after looking more carefully on the gear lists there's indeed 2 parts of t7 in all of them, just ignore me

Assuming every other combo gets around 250~297 haste and still with high numbers, we can avoid taking the extra 115 haste. Also, the extra agi+ap is not enough to compensate de lack in int+crit.
So between both combos, I can presume that the latter one is better. But, like you, I'm with no Excel at hands to test this.

Hi,
with the upcoming patch I decided to spec 2/18/51. Glyphs are: Steady, Serpent, ImpAotH.
There is just one quest remaining: Is it worth to put the 3 points out of Imp. Stings and skill 3/3 Imp. HM since nobody else has skilled Imp HM?

PATCH DAY
Has it been decided that the raptor is the best pet for the current build? Obviously the scorpid isn't the best, neither is the cat. I'm pretty sure I have a raptor sitting in my pet bank, so that would be great.
So is the talent tree posted on the first page the best one to use? I looked through a few of the pages here and didn't see anything better, but I may have missed something. Time to switch to SV.

I know it's not specifically a SV question but I just have to ask. Why is Journey's End the preferred weapon on your spreadsheets? To put theorycrafting aside for a moment (IE - you don't have best-in-slot in every slot) most would prefer to pick up Black Ice. But let's say you are already at the hit cap, then Wraith Spear would certainly be a better choice.
I'm sorry I didn't link those items but EJ site is running extremely slow for me atm.
I'll do a stat comparison.
Journey's End - 87 agi 57 crit 75 haste 0 atk power
Wraith Spear - 90 agi 68 crit 45 haste 126 atk power
Black Ice ----- 108 agi 0 crit 58 haste 134 atk power 72 hit rating
I just can't see how 30 haste rating from Journey's End could possibly be a better net dps gain than 3 agil, 11 crit, and 126 atk power from Wraith Spear.
I could see how 57 crit and 18 haste might compete against 21 agil and 134 atk power... but the 72 hit rating is an easy way to boost you to hit cap, allowing better gems and better itemization of other slots.
Is the spreadsheet really that messed up to show Journey's End as best dps 2her for hunters? Or am I just not seeing something very obvious?
*EDIT*
I guess my ignorance is showing. I've been a BM hunter my whole life but after giving the SV tree another look I noticed the talents - Survivalist and Hunter vs Wild.
Refactoring the items I see that you should actually give Journey's End: +37.62 atk power. Wraith Spear: +26.07 atk power. Black Ice: +29.04 atk power.
My question still stands though. The attack power difference is hardly justifiable.

Journey's End will have much more AP (228 I think) once the Patch 3.0.8 goes live.
