I'm using this 2 button macro. Is this macro any good at all? I'm doing good dps with that but it's not best, even shadow priests and death knights are doing more dps in our 25man raids.
(Macro 1)
#showtooltip Steady Shot
/cast Kill Shot
/click MultiBarBottomLeftButton2
/cast !Auto Shot
/cast [target=pettarget,exists] Rabid
/script UIErrorsFrame:Clear()
(Macro 2 (MultiBarBottomLeftButton2)
#showtooltip Serpent Sting
/castsequence reset=18/target Serpent Sting, Steady Shot, Steady Shot, Steady Shot,
Steady Shot, Steady Shot, Steady Shot, Steady Shot, Steady Shot, Steady Shot
And i'm using Serpent Sting, Steady Shot, Bestial Wrath glyphs and Improved Serpent Sting talent
So, if this macro is wrong, can anyone tell me whats wrong and how should i improve it?

Use that one if you are a lazy hunter and just spam 1 button. Then get an addon that tracks Serpent Sting debuff on your target and manually weave it into your shot rotation, i.e shoot it once every 18secs or so, let the last tick go off, so dont refresh it and loose a tick. With the upcoming changes in the patch, you can use an arcane shot just before you are about to refresh SS, which means you loose no DPS at all then as you sometime might get 1 SS off without serpent being up.
Next is, I dont mean this as offensive but be a bit more specific when you say DK/SP beat you, but tbh, I cannot think of a fight if you do everything correct they should touch you, you should clear them with more than 1k DPS atm before the patch hit live, if gear are the same ofc. For 1 I can say about your macro is that you if spammed it, you fired Serpent about every 6secs or so, instead of 18 and if you press it once for every SS you shoot, then you will loose without a doubt about 10-15% dps from SS there. So that alone will help alot, but make sure you control your pet good, get the correct buffs/consumables, gear correctly and talent (ie make sure you have 2xGftT till your crit keeps it high enough, but still imo for BM just go 2/2 always as your pet is what it is all about).

I have a question about the !auto shot line in most of the steady shot macros shown here. I'm currently using the steady shot macro in the first post in this thread, and have been using it successfully for quite some time now.
I have autoshot place on #1 in my bar, and this macro on #2. Normally, I just spam #2 and when I need to stop, I just press #1 and it would stop shooting. But since last maintenance, pressing #1 does nothing, I have to push escape like 2 times just to stop shooting. Removing the !auto shot in the macro makes it go back to normal, making the autoshot button working again.
Any ideas? Is the !auto shot still required?

Here's a nice macro I've been using since TBC, which still seems to work flawless. It combines pet Call, Feed, Mend and Revive in 1 button.
#showtooltip
/cast [nopet,modifier] Revive Pet; [target=pet,dead] Revive Pet; [nopet] Call Pet; [combat][modifier]Mend Pet
/stopmacro [combat]
#showtooltip Clefthoof Ribs
/cast Feed Pet
/use Clefthoof Ribs
"#showtooltip Clefthoof Ribs" can be deleted, I just added it to see how much food I have left.
Replace "Clefthoof Ribs" with the petfood of your choice. Hold shift/alt/ctrl while not in combat to heal your pet.

There:
http://wowwebstats.com/3c1aqallvtjqw?s=33085-62517 - 15sec Serpent Sting rotation
Wow Web Stats
I have Kill Command in that macro too, just forgot to add here.
Like half of the classes are front of me and i cant understand why im doing low dps. (But i suspect maybe its because of my bow?)
Fight starts: Popping BW, Rapid Fire, Call of the Wild, Readiness, then start spamming my macro while AotH is active. About 10-15sec. later i use BW, Rapid Fire again, when BW CD's is over i'll re-use, same for Rapid Fire and Readiness (Basicly all of them are on CD always.). Pet spells are active, except Call of the Wild and Rabid.
And so far when i have watched the rotation then Serpent Sting will reset every 15/18 sec. maybe it's just me.

/castsequence reset=combat/target , Steady Shot
/castsequence reset=combat/target Chimera Shot, Arcane Shot
Follow-up: Tested in Naxx (25) 12/19 Patchwerk
What I found:
Pros:
1) no lockups
2) Chimera refreshed SS without fail
2) ~3600 dps
3) reasonably mana efficient ... was forced to use AotV at 50%, but only once
Cons:
1) it seems like an eternity waiting for both Chimera and Arcane to come off CD
2) not sure if this macro is better than weaving the shots manually
p.s. I handle trinkets and enhancement abilities (i.e. RF) in a separate macro

Just scanning the first few pages of the log file...
17:46'15.391 Huntalicious Arcane Shot hits Patchwerk for 1235 Arcane.
...
17:46'31.469 Huntalicious gains The Beast Within.
...
17:47'09.281 Huntalicious gains The Beast Within.
your 1st TBW did not go off until 16 seconds into the fight. Granted this looked intentional so as to be timed with Heroism. With an 18 second duration on TBW I expected it to see it again at roughly 17:46’50/51 in the log, but noticed you didn’t activate it again till 17:47’09 (almost 40 full seconds since its 1st activation). this means you obviously popped readiness between these but in fact had TBW off CD but not activated for about 20 seconds. I did not look much further at the log file than this, but if you try opening with TBW/RF/Readiness and really ensure that "all of them are on CD always" as you state above then you will see a DPS increase.

Reason: TBW 18 second duration (not cooldown)

Stead shot spam (based on beast master spam- other specs might have other instant abilities they would want to see in here)

The problem I am having when using this macro, is that if I re-press the macro button at any time during the cast sequence for steady shot, it interrupts steady shot and it does not go off. Does anyone know of a workaround for this? Ideally, I'd like to be able to keep button-mashing like a madman, without having to worry about timing it every time steady shot goes off.

Hey... I heard rumors that autoshot doesn't clip anymore with steady shot but im noticing some of the macros still have !autoshot in there. Is that even necessary? heres my version of the macro im using.. it seems to be working decent but if it can work better please let me know.. cause im only doing average dps.

I've recently tried Survival on the PTR and am trying to get macro working but doesn't seem to work right..
#showtooltip Steady Shot
/script UIErrorsFrame:UnregisterEvent("UI_ERROR_MESSAGE");
/cast Explosive Shot
/script UIErrorsFrame:RegisterEvent("UI_ERROR_MESSAGE");
/cast !Autoshot
/cast Steady Shot
Also I'm debating on whether I should weave serpent stings in there for Survival or not..

The autoshot is in there to make sure your autoattack starts when you start casting your first steady, not when you finish it.

Currently, I'm MM and I manually weave chimera, and aimed shot into my rotation. I use a kill shot, kill command, steady shot macro as my "filler" macro. Ideally, I'd like to just add arcane shot into the macro and have it fire on CD in between the steady shots, but I can't figure out a way to do this.
Apparently,
/script UIErrorsFrame:Clear()
/cast Kill Shot
/click [target=pettarget,exists] <ActionButton> (handle pet abilities)
/castsequence reset=combat/target , Steady Shot
/castsequence reset=combat/target Chimera Shot, Arcane Shot
is working, but do you think it's possible to make a working iteration that doesn't involve chimera shot?

I have been noticing ALOT of "failed" messages on my screen spamming this macro as well. I went to the heroic training dummy in Org, and spammed the hell out of it. I did 1800 dps with 34 steady shots and 35 auto shots in the time it took me to go from 100% mana to 0%. I than tried to time the macro, waiting for the steady to go off and than hitting it again. I did not get the "failed" message on my screen, but I lost 200 or so dps and get this, i did 34 steady shots and 44 auto shots in the same time.
Although we know SS does not clip auto, does the change in shots fired an indication that it is?

From my testing, that macro should only cast Steady Shot under a 1.5 second GCD, is that what everyone else is experiencing? Works great when not hasted, but yeah.

I've been working with macros for a while but I'm not quite a master at it (yet), and I was trying to figure out if there was a possible combination to do the following:
I originally have the ability Master's Call bound on my bars is Shift-D. Now I want to make a macro that when I press Shift-D it will use Master's Call on myself, and when I press Alt-D it will use the ability on my arena partner.
I tried a few different additions such as:
/cast [modifier:alt][Target=Name-of-partner] Master's Call
/cast [modifier:shift] Master's Call
/targetlasttarget
Which obviously didn't work, so I ended up just using a simply /cast [target=Name-of-partner] Master's Call command for the meantime. I'm sure there's a way to make a macro with key2 or the like. Or maybe I wouldn't even bind Shift-D in the first place. Thanks.

Ah, thanks. Every once in a while it seems to fire multiple steady shots when arcane is off CD, but it doesn't ever happen more than a couple time. Seems like it would just be best to manually fire arcane, but this macro does work fairly well for those "lazy" times =P

I think it will work just putting it on the same line, try this:
/cast [modifier:alt, target=Name-of-partner] Master's Call; [modifier:shift, target=Your-own-name] Master's Call
I think there is a code for targeting yourself without putting in your name, but can't remember it right now..

For 1 I don't know if you have to time every shot, or you can simply buttommash.
But one flaw I see is that this wouldn't work on fights where you have to move a lot, because basicly you timed everything around standing still and beeing able to fire all the steady shots you like. In a fight where you have to move, your serpent sting would wear off.
But on a tank n spank fight it would work nicely

If you are like me and have a hard time remembering to refresh your mend pet spell, here is a good reminder macro I made that prompts the UI Error frame with a custom message in this caste "Mend Pet!". It also starts the ingame stopwatch with a 15 sec countdown with a sound at the end. It doesn't protect against "overhealing", its just a friendly reminder when your last cast is over and its time to cast a new one.
/Cast Mend Pet
/in 15 /script UIErrorsFrame:AddMessage('Mend Pet!', 1, 1, 1, 1, UIERRORS_HOLD_TIME)
/script Stopwatch_Play()
/sw 15
Be aware that the timer will go of even if the cast was successful or not. Add a stopcast line first if you want to stop that from happening.
