As for the xbow, it is the best in slot unless you are a dwarf. For dwarves, you need to be able to use the hit to make it BiS. It remains to be seen if we can swap other gears around to make a set of gears using the xbow to get better dps (ie is the hit gained more efficiently with the weap or some other slot).
How about trolls, Siren's Cry vs. the xbow?

I'm not sure why the above layout is with a 6/14/51 build, maybe I'm behind on my reading but I was under the impression that it was not the best spec anymore.

He didn't mention it specifically, but it is being assumed tradeskills are Jewelcrafting and Blacksmithing.

MM Build

Yes Ginbar, it is me. Good to see you.

Thanks for the info, and yes it was with dwarf's in mind. However, I assume thats based on a SV build, and as Kom suggested, I believe it still may be ahead for MM. This is due to CS using weapon damage, and that gun is higher item level and slower, making CS hit that much harder.

Also, and correct me if I'm wrong on this, but I believe that it's slower speed will also increase the value of any haste. 15% haste will have greater total impact on a 3.0 speed weapon that a 2.9 speed weapon, although granted it would be very small increase.

Edit: Just to clarify, MM use a greater % of auto-shots, which would definitely benefit more from the higher DPS weapon and is what would allow haste to increase in value.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I agree with ur assumptions Dravous. My apologies, it wasn't til after I posted, that I realized I should have link some MM build numbers; forgot that's what you normally ran.

Here are some numbers based upon your current armory build of 11/53/7 and gear; the only gear I switched was the titan forged rune of cruelty(pvp trink), I just put Mirror of truth in its place (not sure which one you raid with)

Siren's Cry: 5831
Giant's bane: 5877
Furious Gladiator's Shotgun: 5847
Furious Gladiator's Rifle: 5892

These numbers come straight from the Spreadsheet version 88a..I just plugged in your items/build...

The problem with all layouts with hardmode loot is, that the socket boni are not known yet. So as of now it's best to put Dragon's Eyes in normal items to gain the bonus there. Once all these are known for hardmode loot, the gems can be adjusted accordingly.

As for the talents, 6/14/51 might not be the most practical build (and therefore many raiders choose something like 0/15/56) but it's best dps.

If that's directed at my post, MMO-Champ shows the socket bonus as being +8Agi for the staff

The spreadsheet assumes you can just stand still and nuke the boss for the full duration of the test it doesnt take into account having to move. So it comes out ahead if you could just stand still and DPS and never have to move.

How do the 2200 rating PvP weapons stack up? I can only imagine they are better, 3.0 speed with top end @ 705~, all 170.x dps.

Are they just not available in the spreadsheet?

mm question

The only question I have about these spreadsheets is why are hunters specing into silencing shot over TSA. Is silencing shot a better dps boost over 10% more ap.

It's probably assumed the 10% buff is obtained elsewhere, like Enhance Shaman.

If so how are you getting that 10% boost or is it not even worth it?

Enhance Shaman and DKs have the exact same buff. If you go full buffs on the spreadsheet it assumes you get as much outside help as possible, allowing you to configure your personal DPS to the maximum value.

The only reason you'd need to spec into TSA or Silencing shot for PvE content is if your raid doesn't have the 10% buff from someone else or your raid needs a ranged interrupt. Otherwise, it gets overwritten and has more benefit for other classes to spec the buff/has no place in the shot rotation and there are plenty of other interrupts to go around.

Silencing Shot is no longer on the GCD, and thus *does* have a place in the shot rotation. Macro it to Chimera Shot and go.

Is it me or with 0.88b MM is now showing as higher dps (for dwarf atleast, otherwise still very close) than SV?

With the inclusion of the new Crossbow, I can see this as a possibility. Weapon dps in MM plays a much larger role in your overall damage than in SV.

I'm currently raiding as MM and approximately 30% of my damage comes solely from Auto Shot. The Algalon crossbow, which I assume you're using to compare the potential dps of both specs, could help close the gap in dps of both specs simply because of the high weapon dps.

Would someone like to analyze this?

For trolls, I'm getting the bow has having almost a full 1% crit more, and 22 more haste rating (~0.67% haste) than the xbow, while the xbow only really wins at having 8.6 more DPS... not counting the 23 hit rating the xbow has, as depending on the gear setup, this may or may not be needed.

Thoughts?

And here I thought it wasn't possible to go OOM any faster with MM! Completely forgot about that...
