Perhaps split it across factions. Vaxum's would be alliance BiS, Neruse's would be horde BiS. Orc hunters definitely would be 1% below hit cap with the former.

Your setup in post 8% is using the dwarf race, not many of those on horde.

You can shoot aimed while running towards target, press macro, and continue dpsing from a range. Sure you loose something, but not too much, as I see it.
Although, it seems that if u take ST, the DPS compared to trap dancing is more-less the same. it's just, LnL wont proc as often with serpent as it would with trap, but it still does procc fairly often.

To be honest, I don´t want to split it up even further. Hordes can just use the alliance template and substitute the agi food with hit food and replace one hit gem with a non-hit gem.
Anyway this isn´t meant to be something you can just copy and use for your own toon, it should give you an idea what would be the BiS if you´re solely optimzing for dps. I´m not using it myself, but at least I know where I´m sacrificing dps and where I could upgrade in order to get more.

Change race to Orc, add in Blood Fury in rotation. Do I have to do it for you?

I get 6807 dps (post #8) with an orc. Using your gem and food suggestions with post #3 (changed boots to Superior Agility to shed excess hit), 6779 dps.
So no, you don't have a good argument. Especially considering the title of this thread.
Sorry if that came out harshly, wasn't intended.

For pet food you could use [Spiced Mammoth Treats]. It would be another slight increase. Not sure if it's missing from the sheets or not.
Also the back enchant could be +22 Agi instead of +16.

You're not entirely wrong.
Kibler Bits used to give 20 strength and 20 spirit to the pet for 30 mins. It got changed in patch 3.0 to what you see today.

It's been bugging me that the #s in my posted MM & SV templates didn't match what Midnight was reporting in post #1 for the exact same setups, and I finally found out why!
Turns out there are 2 minor bugs in the official Best_DPS_82 spreadsheet, which together account for the differences: - The buff template for Horde & Alliance do not specifiy a rank for the Swift Retribution buff on the pet, so instead of rank 3 per post #1 rules, the pet gets nothing.
- The gear setup for MM has Major Armor enchant on the cloak, instead of Major Agility.
If one downloads the official spreadsheet & makes the above 2 fixes, the DPS numbers in post #3 (SV) & post #4 (MM) match exactly.

Neruse, is this with the Arcanum of Ferocity listed in post #8? If so, the spreadsheet is bugged and also adds a hidden 1% haste when you choose that Arcanum. To see this, remove the Arcanum and enter the +34ap/+16hit on the manual adjust line - the DPS #s drop quite a bit.

THanks! I made the mentioned changes and re-uploaded the sheet, which indeed did show the exact same results you posted.

Maybe I am missing something, but what makes the Savage Rend better than Rake when in regular testing and in the spreadsheet Raptors come 5-10dps less than cats?
I am aware of the nerf to rake and would prefer to use a raptor, but it just doesn't seem like it makes the "best" pet in any measurable fashion.

Mana Tide Totem still remains party specific.

Mana spring, mana tide, disease cleansing, poison cleansing are party only, tremor is also party only.
Mana spring also stacks in a party, as it pulses for the mana regen and does not have a buff icon.

I use the spreadsheet you provided and make some small changes to get higher dps value. I play an orc hunter so I used orc as class (disabled dranei aura as well). You can also change LW to blacksmithing for higher dps values since it offers 32 agi instead of 64 AP. I provided wowhead tooltips for the changes I made only.
v82 spreadsheet: 6819.21 dps (Hunter: 5640.09, Pet: 1179.11)
Race: Orc
Professions: Jewelcrafting + Blacksmithing
Spec: 6/14/51
Pet Spec: Raptor
Glyphs: [Glyph of Steady Shot][Glyph of Serpent Sting][Glyph of Improved Aspect of the Hawk]
Buffs/debuffs: all available raid buffs & target debuffs except Draenei Heroic Presence aura
Consumables: [Elixir of Mighty Agility][Elixir of Mighty Thoughts][Blackened Dragonfin][Spiced Mammoth Treats]
Shot Priority: Rapid Fire > Blood Fury > Serpent Sting > Kill Shot > Explosive Shot > Multi-Shot > Steady Shot
Pet Priority: Savage Rend > Claw
Gear:
Melee - [Journey's End][Scroll of Enchant 2H Weapon - Massacre]
Head - [Blue Aspect Helm][Relentless Earthsiege Diamond][Glinting Monarch Topaz][Arcanum of Torment]
Neck - [Favor of the Dragon Queen][Delicate Dragon's Eye]
Shoulders - [Valorous Cryptstalker Spaulders][Delicate Scarlet Ruby][Greater Inscription of the Axe]
Back - [Drape of the Deadly Foe][Scroll of Enchant Cloak - Major Agility]
Chest - [Valorous Cryptstalker Tunic][Delicate Scarlet Ruby][Delicate Dragon's Eye][Scroll of Enchant Chest - Super Stats]

Not possible - "Exactly as OP" means Heroic Presence, which isn't possible for Horde.

Danzou your setup is a bit flawed because you left Heroic Presence up (Draenei Aura) but chose and Orc. If you take out that buff you will be well short of the hit cap.

@Danzou
I think we´ve already established that just changing leatherworking into blacksmithing (trading 64 AP for 32 Agi) would yield slightly better results for both SV and MM - Vaxum already said so in Post #4 - as long as it´s not modeled into the spreadsheet I don´t want to include it into the actual template though. I´ll add a notification at post #1.
Aside from this the only diffrences I could find between yours and the current best dps template I could find were the use of Superior Agility instead of Major Agility on the back slot item (propably a mistake) and the use of Superior Agility instead of Icewalker on the boots which actually decreased the dps because you fell below the hit cap.
@Apulu
The same thing. While I´m sure your template with blacksmithing would be higher than vaxums with leatherworking it remains lower dps if it uses the same professions.

Please excuse me for butting in on the lively conversation here...but I've noticed a few things that are off...
1. Slime Stream Bands take Blue gems, not Red-Delicate Scarlet Rubies.
2. Valorous Cryptstalker Handguards take Yellow gems, not Red - Delicate Scarlet Rubies.
I've seen the 1st error in a lot of the spreadsheet outputs, but not the 2nd one so much.

My guess is, since we don't have to fulfill the socket bonus they chose to add agi. For the [Slime Stream Bands] the +8 Atk power isn't really worth it, to me atleast and I would rather have the Crit and AP from the agility. As for the gloves, I guess 4 haste isn't a big priority for SV hunters.

For the Slime Stream Bands, blue socket, you can't place a red gem in there...therefore, it would require a Blue, Purple or Green...so you either can do +16 AP/+12 Sta or +8 Crit Rating/+12 Sta respectively. Really no good Blue gem for this, period.
For the Handguards, yellow socket, you can do yellow, orange, or green...I'd probably go with Orange, +16 AP/+8 Crit Rating. Yellow would be +16 Hit Rating and then +8 Crit Rating/+12 Sta, so IMHO Orange would be better.
Unless someone can find a way to redistribute the Dragon's Eye better.

Um, what? You can put any normal gem in any socket, you just won't get the socket bonus.
