I downloaded your shared sheet to have all settings correct.
If you move one talentpoint from GtfT and one from Imp.Barrage and put both in Rapid Killing, you gain aprox 17 dps. To a new total of 5976,89.

Change legs to [Leggings of the Honored]. Change [Strong-Handed Ring] to [Greatring of Collision].
Change [Delicate Scarlet Ruby]in helm to [Rigid Autumn's Glow]. Use [Delicate Scarlet Ruby] in [Greatring of Collision].
Dps would increase to 6556.39 up from 6532.04.

Unless you're wearing a huge amount of leather gear (any maybe not even then) with Blessing of Wisdom, Arcane Intellect, Mana Spring Totem, Judgment of Wisdom on a boss and Replenishers in a raid you'll probably never have to switch to Viper in a 6 minute fight, making the 4-piece bonus a non-issue. If you go to the Shot Rotation tab it displays Time till OOM in seconds with your current rotation. Judging from a post in the Spreadsheet thread it seems like previous versions of the spreadsheet incorrectly added an internal cooldown to JoW, but now that its fixed I'm seeing about 22 minutes until OOM with my raid gear, spec, buffs and rotation, so its clear the 4-piece won't have any affect.

I just checked your build and the 1/2 invigoration is just useless for DPS in the spreadsheet.

Using 52/12/7 and the Glyph of Bestial Wrath instead of Serpent Sting yields a new best of 5803,53 DPS, Hunter: 3286,07, Pet: 2517,46.

Going for 5/5 Mortal shots is 5802,33 by the way, a very very slight difference for those wondering.

It takes skill if it's my class. The guy I am playing against on the other hand is a faceroller. Now when I am facerolling, that's my skill you're seeing.

Edit: I found a mistake in talents. The new total is 6044.41 total DPS, with This 52/12/7 build.

Edit: Orc + Draenei racial wasn't valid. The Draenei racial was removed and gems adjusted, updated at the bottom. The new total is 6009.07 DPS. The Orc seems to be a clear leader on the spreadsheet, by a substantial margin.

I'm having trouble with making my spreadsheet match the "Best DPS" sheet, but my problem is that I keep getting higher numbers. I don't know if I have found something better, or if OpenOffice (2.4.2) isn't doing something right, but I'm getting an overall DPS of 6062.36 for a 51/13/7 BM spec, putting it ahead of the MM DPS listed in the first post.

I've listed the exact steps below as to how I got that number from a default sheet downloaded fresh from Shandara's link. Could someone follow those steps in Excel to see what they get? The difference is huge enough to make me question OOo compatibility.

At this point, I re-read the latest post in the thread, #131, and changed Glyph of Serpent Sting to Glyph of Aspect of the Hawk, and total DPS jumped to 6062.36. The Overview tab shows:

Total DPS: 6062.36

Needed to cap Hit: 0 (100.02%)

Mana per Second Used: 188.55
Mana per Second Regen: 136.40
Time to OOM: 263.88 (Shot Rotation tab says: 342.27)

Final Glyphs: Steady Shot, Aspect of the Hawk, Bestial Wrath

* Updated: I then looked at my talents one more time, and found a mistake. Adjusting the Talents tab to the link at the top of the page brought me inline with the value listed at the very top.

Begin with invalid buff combination

Removed Draenei racial buff from hunter and pet.

Changed gems to build hit rating back to 100%

This may not be an optimal build, because there are 7 extra points of Hit Rating. But it is still within spitting distance of the top MM build.

You are quite correct. Which is why, if you follow the post to its completion, you will see that the final pet is a Raptor.

Edit: It dropped the total by about 35 DPS.

with my current gear, in spreadsheet I should do 6.3k dps with full raid buff. The issue I have now is in 25 man on patchw I can only edge out around 5k. And this is even with trap dancing (use disengage macro to backout). And I don't think we are missing major buff/debuff in our raid, feral druid etc. we do have all classes. Any thoughts on the gap of 1k dps difference? I have not had wws yet. Maybe I will try to get one next time.

The thing with this "best dps possible is" that it claims to ve optimal environment for you such as Kill shot. That being said u hardly will do Killshots for most of the fight, right ? Besides that DPS is also getting lower the longer the fight lasts so time could also make your personal dps drop. Take these spreadsheet numbers as what they are, theoretical numbers, not more not less.

Are the numbers on the first post up to date? I don't know how to load the gear on the spreadsheet you put on there, all I can see is the MM...

I managed, for BM (52/12/7):
Hunter DPS: 3271,38
Pet DPS: 2687,06
Total DPS: 5958,44

And is there a way to auto generate a post? Or do I have to type in everything? Maybe if I upload the sheet would be easier...

Note: This is the first time i've used the spreadsheet, so forgive me.

The 6/14/51 says I should do 1689.92 DPS.
My current build (52/19/0) says I should do 1927.80 DPS.

This is with ALL buffs turned off except for Dragonhawk as I prefer to see soloing DPS. Is this because of the "omptimized settings," put forth in the spreadsheet or is this because the BM build is just better than the survival build?

Are you resetting shot rotations correctly when you change spec? (ie Are you sure you've got Explosive Shot prioritized when you're Survival?)

Very nice, there. I actual went and tested at the Boss Dummy in IF and respecced to Survival and noticed a significant DPS jump... But now I see it in the spreadsheet.

That may very well be true. Raid buffs have a huge affect on dps and scale differently with the different builds.

Hmm, I downloaded the sheet here at home, with OOo 2.4.0, and followed my steps, checking the DPS values along the way. Other than a typo in the talents, where I only allocated 12 out of the 13 points in the (invalid) spec initially posted, all the values continued to match. I still got 6009.07 total.

I'm going to try to hunt down someone with Excel to try this out, but for now, how do I attach a file to this post?

Correct me if i'm not doing this right but since furious howl isnt being calculated i through on flask of relentless assault (120ap) on top of my stat food to mimic ap buff from howl. It made more dps then raptor and cat and I believe it would be more if there was a way to add the ap to the pet directly. Not to mention howl is 158 on my dogs tooltip instead of the 120. I put in the furious howl ability on the pet tab hoping it would still use the focus to balance it but i don't know if this calculated it right.

If this is correct this would seem to be hands down the best pet considering it gives you the most dps and gives the whole raid ap.

Edit: Looking at the paperdoll this buff gives me(unbuffed) 33 more low end damage and my pet 25 more low end damage. Since this buff is on all the time I would say its +58 dmg all the time. However on patchwerk from this week my cat's rakes says avg is around 200s so I'm not sure why the spreadsheet would show more dps with the ap buff.

Furious Howl does not stack with Blessing of Might or Battle Shout, making it useless 9 times out of 10 in a raid. Now, if you didn't have either of those buffs for some reason, then yes Wolves are a pretty good pet.

The BM template is 300 DPS out I think? A few people are posting 6k+ DPS templates for BM now, even if the posts are stupidly hard to follow with 4 or 5 different totals.

I know at least one of the 6k+ BM templates was incorrectly using Heroic Presence on an Orc. If you have a set up thats better than the one in the OP spreadsheet, go ahead and post it.
