I was having trouble with the feign death method of killing Jin'do the Hexxer. I wasn't quite able to finish Jin'do off after he killed my pet. So, I respecced my pet (Arcturis, the spirit beast) with Heart of The Phoenix. Then, once my pet was dead and I wasn't mind controlled I just hit Heart and let my pet finish Jin'do.

Raptor packs around him can drop a rare pet which can sell for a few hundred gold depending on server. Just a MD + one volley is enough for one pack.
Has this thing about him not dropping the mount if you cheese him been confirmed in any way?

Read my statement closely, and you can see I never claimed it can't drop if you make the raptor add despawn. In fact, I myself got the raptor mount as well using this bug.

I usually killed the melee classes first, because they are a real pain because of their stuns and of course because they're melee. Best strategy; lay freezing, snake and explosive trap in the middle, go to max range and then multi shot MD into the group and then nuke the warlord/rogue/shaman - they will die in a few seconds and because you're on maximum range they will not charge you. The other mobs will either be attacking your pet or the snakes and can easily be killed then. After the melee are dead I usually focus the princess. Like this the boss became very easy in contrast to killing her first.

Need help soloing Romulo and Julianne.

I run out to the audience and tried an OOM method but she'll still heal and do her holy damage with zero mana so that method doesn't work. So, here is what I'm thinking. Anyone with experience in this fight have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them.

1. Use a marks spec with hawkeye.
2. Fighting Julianne it would seem have to more react to what she is doing. Move back when she's trying to cast # Blinding Passion, and silencing shot when trying to heal.
3. Fighting Romulo the only idea is scorpid sting with chimera to try to disarm. His debuff on pet lasts a minute so I'd think need to burn him ASAP.
4. When fighting them both, react to what julianne is doing and put her on focus. Try to burn Romulo to about 20%, then switch to Julianne and put Romulo on focus. Kill Julianne and finish Romulo.

I haven't gotten to phase 3 yet so I'm not sure if this is a viable strategy. Seems easy enough so I figure I'm missing something.

***

Also, is the bug boss in AQ 40 worth attempting with a gorilla? Seems impossible.

Since I have gotten some requests about writing down my personal strat to solo Romulo&Julianna I'm going to do that.

A few basics first:
-You need 2 pieces of t5 and a bm spec.
-You also need to tame a gorilla (You can find some of level 76 in Sholazar basing.)
-I would recommend at least a little Icecrown gear, but it is by no means neccesary. I mostly had toc-25 gear with a few pieces from Icc-25 when I first did the encounter back in January.
-You need aimed shot in phase 1&3.
-You DON’T need Onyxia hp5 trinket’s to do the encounter. I didn’t have any, when I first did it.

The first thing you would like to do is clear the whole opera zone. That means the audience room and the mobs behind the scene. Now place your pet on the place on the scene that is nearest to the audience, and thereby the place where you are going to stand. Start the encounter and run down behind the scene and up to the audience room. Julianne will appear. Don’t shoot her. That will make her aggro you, and she will run out from the scene, which will reset the encounter. Make your pet build some solid aggro, while you stay 45+ yards away from her, and wait for her to cast a heal. Go crazy dps on her right after she does that. She will begin to cast another heal at some point, so be ready to make your gorilla use pummel. When she dies Romulo appears. Bandage up while you keep your pet alive. When you are at full health you can kill him.

Phase 3 starts now.
Position yourself in a way, which allows you to shoot at Romulo and heal your pet, while you are 45+ yards away from Julianne and make your pet attack her.
Now the trick to kill them at the same time is this:
Julianne will always heal the target with the lowest health. Keep attacking Romulo without stealing aggro from your pet, and keep his health below Juliannes all the time. That will make her heal only him, and your pet can begin to slowly bite her health away. It can get hard towards 10%, but you will likely kill them, if you make it that far. Wait for Julianne to cast a heal, and then use every cd you have, to kill them both within 10 seconds. Good luck to anyone who want to try the encounter.

The Prophet Skeram - AQ40

Hello everyone,

I have made a guide on how to kill The Prophet Skeram from AQ40. I hope you'll find it useful.

1. Talents, gear and pet

1.1 - Hunter talents and glyphs
1.2 - Pet talents - I used a turtle because Shell Shield is a must in this fight.
1.3 - Gear:
- You don't need 2xT5 in this fight because all the damage is done by your pet.
- You don't need 3xT1, but it could be useful - I did it without T1.
- Be Hit capped, it's a must for your pet to hit with all the abilities.
- Use stamina gear.

What I used:
Helm:[Snowserpent Mail Helm]
Neck:[Wodin's Lucky Necklace]
Shoulders:[Ahn'Kahar Blood Hunter's Spaulders]
Cloak:[Recovered Scarlet Onslaught Cape]
Chest:[Sanctified Ahn'Kahar Blood Hunter's Tunic]
Wrist:[Wrathful Gladiator's Wristguards of Triumph] with Fur Lining - Stamina (102 stamina enchant for LW only)
Gloves:[Wrathful Gladiator's Chain Gauntlets]
Belt:[Band of the Night Raven]
Legs:[Relentless Gladiator's Chain Leggings] with [Frosthide Leg Armor]
Feet:[Rock-Steady Treads]
Ring1:[Ashen Band of Endless Vengeance]
Ring2:[Band of the Bone Colossus]
Trinket1:[Corroded Skeleton Key] - Excellent for this fight, alot of stamina + absorbs 6400 damage (~ 3 Earth Shocks)
Trinket2:[Whispering Fanged Skull] - I had nothing else better
Ranged:[Njorndar Bone Bow] - because Zod doesn't give any bonus to your pet.
Melee:[Hellion Glaive]

- DPS enchants + agility gems on PVE items and Stamina enchants + stamina gems on PVP items.

2. Buffs
[Drums of Forgotten Kings]
[Drums of the Wild]
[Runescroll of Fortitude]
[Spiced Mammoth Treats]
[Blackened Dragonfin]or [Fish Feast]
[Guru's Elixir]
[Elixir of Protection] or [Elixir of Mighty Thoughts] or [Elixir of Mighty Fortitude] (this is good to regenerate hp while in FD)

Using the gear and buffs above, my pet had 34499 HP.

3. The Fight

In the boss room there are 4 Anubisath Sentinels and 2 Obsidian Eradicators (they look like eagles with 4 legs).
One eagle patrols near the boss - kill this one just before you engage the boss. The eagles have a 30 mins respawn timer and you'll need around 25 mins to kill the boss.
If the eagle respawns during the fight, your pet will not be able to survive, so if you wipe at boss, reset the instance and kill them again.

The boss has a few abilities which are very nasty, thus you'll stay in feign Death almost all the fight.
I. True Fulfillment - this is a Mind Control and you need to stay outside it's 45 yards range
II. Split - happens at 75%, 50%, and 25%. The boss splits in 3 but the other 2 images have less HP
III. Blink - the boss will teleport once in a while, clearing aggro. He can teleport to his initial point or one of the two platforms (right or left)
IV. Earth Shock - 2,000 damage, cast once every second until your pet is in melee range again. This usually happens when he blinks and the pet is not in melee range.

Pet positioning:

Get on the platform behind the boss and position your pet on the top of the stairs from left or right (I prefer left, don't ask me why) so it can be in line of sight.
Put your pet on Passive and Stay and activate Aspect of the Beast. Now you're ready to start the fight.

Misdirect on the pet, blow every cooldown you have and attack the boss, then get out of his Mind control range (I hug the wall behind). Now you can FD or stay "awake" while using [Corroded Skeleton Key] and Deterrence.
If you're not FD, use Bestial Wrath and Kill Command every time they are available, to increase the pet's dps. Do not go into shooting range, you'll get MC'ed. Do not try to get in range to mend pet, your pet will be always at full HP while the boss is not splited.

At 75% FD and let the pet handle the 3 Skerams. FD is a must here, because you'll get 3 Earth Shocks per second and you'll die fast.
Focus on one image (mark it with a skull) while rotating Shell Shield and Cower. After you kill it, do the same with the second image.
If the image blinks too far away, press Passive on the pet's action toolbar so it can return to it's initial spot. If you let the pet go after the image, there is the riks that your pet will despawn, resetting the encounter.

On the first Split, the other two images have around 39k HP which will increase for the next two splits: ~48k on the second and ~58K on the third.
Use Last Stand for both, you'll need it.

After you kill both images (or better said - your pet kills), focus on the boss again and your pet will be back at full HP long before the next split.

At the third split, you'll be tempted to ignore the images, hoping you'll down the boss faster. Don't do it! I did it and failed at 7800 boss HP.

So, all in all, the main points:

- stay outside MC range
- use Bestial Wrath and Kill Command every time they are available while you're not FD
- keep FD ready for split and stay FD until your pet kills the images
- use Last Stand on second and third split
- use [Corroded Skeleton Key] when it's available to absorb Earth Shock.
- most important Have patience!

This is the longest and safest kill method.

Good luck!

Just as a note I take down Prophet with 31.5k pet hp and no last stand.
So the gear there is a bit more then you need, still you do need alot of health for it.
I used mostly stamina gemmed PvP gear, yay no dps

However I DO shoot the boss while he is not split.
As long as I stay at max range with hawk eye he doesn't seem to mind control me.
Doing this I can shave ALOT of time off the fight.

This does have its dangers as you need to be really fast to disengage/FD if he teleports and you auto shot, thus pulling agro.
It can pay to keep your bow etc dragged over your bags so you can just let go of the mouse and drop it if you see MC casting.
I use MD when I can and do my best to guess the random teleports >.<

nechifor does have the safer strat though, I am just one of those impatient people I guess :P

Tried it various ways, when I first started I was using a bear with stam gear, but would sometimes take 2-3 attempts due to respawns. So started looking at speeding it up so switched to a worm and used T1 3 set, positioning myself by the right hand wall when facing the boss.

With T1 3set you can stay up for a while after each split, using cd's (deterance if you get ES spam) and putting a late heal on pet before feigning. Found with the late heal, cower and last stand can pretty much do it in normal gear (excluding a few pvp bits to compensate for stam loss from T1).

Finally got Nefarian down, Hunter first afaik. I have written a basic strategy below (It assumes you know the basics of the fight).

Phase 1:
There are 5 different Drakonid colors, each with their own special ability. 2 of these will spawn per lockout.
For my kill i had Red and Blue. Arguably the easiest 2 to deal with. Occasionally a Chromatic Drakonid will spawn, these are much harder hitting and have more health.
You need to kill 42 Drakonid before Phase 2 will begin. The more aggressive you are and the closer the corpses are stacked up, the easier Phase 3 will be (more about this below)

Phase 2:
New will cast the Hunter class call approx. 30 secs in. Breaking your ranged weapon and rendering it useless. Lucky for us there is a way around this. [Charmed Ancient Bone Bow] has no durability, thus is unbreakable.
You need to DPS Nef down to 20% to begin Phase 3. Easy tank & spank.

Phase 3:
This is the tricky part. Every Drakonid that you killed in phase one will be resurrected as a Bone Construct. they hit fairly hard but don't have much health. Personally i used a Crocolisk for the "Bad Attitude" ability to help with threat on them all. Get an MD volley straight onto them to ensure you pet doesn't get instantly gibbed. If they go down, congratulations you've won.

What you will need:
2 Pieces of Tier 5
Various consumables (personal choice)
Onyxia Hp5 trinket/Bauble to survive Phase 1.

Good luck and have fun.

Good job on the Nef kill. He's a really shitty boss to deal with and especially his first phase still gives me nightmares.

I actually can't remember when I first killed him, but it was around 2-3 months back.
I also filmed the kill, and the only reason for why I haven't made the video public yet is, that I have been to lazy to make a proper video out of it.

I have also filmed Emeriss and I'm just waiting for Taerar to spawn and Romulo&Julianne to be there, so I can fraps a kill of those bosses too, since those are some of the only bosses, who don't have a video of them on youtube yet, and I think it would help a lot of people if there where.

As a sidenote. Has anyone been able to defeat Kazzak yet?

I had a really lucky attempt last week, and got him down to ~10%, but there I lost all of my mana and took an air ride duo to him chaincasting the mana bomb on me, and he killed my pet. I used 2 Onyxia hp5 trinkets and some shadow res pieces on that attempt. Definitely and by far the most challenging boss I have ever attempted.

If you're an engineer, you can also put down a jeeves right next to where you're standing. Your solution might be more elegant, but a jeeves will allow you to use a higher dps ranged weapon with minimal downtime. And of course you could just use equipment manager and use a boss mods timer to unequip for a brief moment too. I'm not saying either is better, it's just another option.

Have you tried combining with an explosive trap for phase three? explosive trap+MD+volley.

I have been constantly reading this forum thread and I'm quite impressed how far soloing has come for hunters. So far I've done all of ZG and half of MC and Kara. I was just wondering has any1 taken a look at ZA?
It would be pretty hard to do by yourself; just to enter you'll need 5 or more people to hit the gong I believe. I'm thinking the Bear boss's mechanics are the only ones that seem easy enough to handle by just a hunter. Has anyone tried attempting him yet? I assume his hits might be too much to handle since it used to take 2 tanks in TBC.
