Nothing changed, that mechanic is still there. That obviously makes it impossible to do, unless you could somehow get the adds to die right next to every of the 4 pillars. It's definitely possible with 2 people, although still extremely hard, and with 3 people it should be doable without too much trouble, assuming everybody knows what they're doing.

You can do it as an Engineer.
Just stay on the edge and use your Loot-A-Rang and loot the Core.

Then you're rooted at the edge with no way to reach the generators. Maybe it would be possible as Deathknight engineer (grip tainted elemental to edge, kill, then loot-a-rang near the generator), but I don't see how you would do it as a hunter.

Was thinking the same thing about DK's - Why is the Loot-a-rang needed tho, if you can just Death Grip it to you? And what would make the Loot-a-rang useless, you could just stand next to the generator and use it? I'm not an engineer though, so I don't know exactly how it works.

Simple Grip-kill-loot wouldn't be possible because of range and LoS issues. Also Tainted Elementals despawn after 15 seconds, so you can't double-grip them to the generator.

Ok thanks, and dang that was fast, even before I found the item myself =P I guess it's true then: DK engineer or you can't solo it. Enough posts about Vashj I'd say, there are more hard bosses to talk about =D
Has anyone killed High Astromancer Solarian in TK, and how? Seems like he should be soloable, just very hard. I've tried it several times myself, and the main problems were 15 adds spawning at once, and my pet auto-dismissing if I'm standing 20+ yards from him, then getting launched in the air.

To anyone attempting Anetheron: any idea why he would randomly hit (not crit) a pet for 10x damage? I've found parsing my combat log that he will periodically hit my turtle for 33k or cat for 42k, roughly ten times the normal melee damage. Can't seem to find anything that's causing that, but would obviously like to prevent it if possible.

What's the working range on the Loot-a-Rang and how quickly does it loot?

Could you kill the Tainted Elemental from the top of the stairs, throw the Loot-a-Rang and use Disengage to leap to the generator before the tainted core immobilizes you?

1. you have to stand still to use it
2. When you kill you tend to untarget so you either have to re-target and use the loot-a-rang or you have to click on it then mouse over and select the mob to loot
3. once you select it is pretty instant, but it triggers CD even if it is not your mob to loot or if you have already looted that mob.

Not sure the range off the top of my head, but I don't think it matches your attack range

Since we still seem to be talking about Vashj, one more possible tool we might be able to leverage is the knockback from the exotic Rhino pet. Apparently they still have this, so with careful use of Move To, you might be able to punt the Tainted Elemental up the steps (although IIRC knocking things up steps tends to not work), then use some combination of loot-a-rang/disengage/whatever to loot and use the core.

Tried him twice myself (never got past 60%, hate those infernals), didn't see anything like that. All I can think of is his enrage after 10 minutes.

Hydross isn't impossible to solo, more people have done this including myself, would see that if you read thru the whole thread.

Must level my fishing so I can try out The Lurker Below, cause I guess you still need like 375+ fishing in order to bring him up?
Fathom Lord Kerathress will be interesting to try out after the patch, although I think it won't be possible to bring down the healer fast enough with abit higher dps anyway.

^pretty much makes using it a one button affair.
