That is not correct. Distance has no impact on ignite munching in any of it's three incarnations. The only way that could possibly influence ignite munching is if Pyroblast and Fireball had different travel speeds. I have never seen anyone suggest this is the case.

I'm on an iphone right now and its annoying to write everything down - I know someone had posted something on current ignite munching model and distance calculations. Can anyone link?
While I've no idea what you're referring to about "stacking ignites" as they do not stack, the link below can tell you what Ignite Munching is, and what causes it. It contains no discussion of distance.

Since Combustion does have some sort of travel time, it makes sense that being closer to the target makes it easier to land a good Combustion. Ignite size on the target, however, shouldn't really be affected by distance to the target.

Ignite Munching
ignite gets recalculated when you have multiple crits while a current ignite is up...giving you a bigger ignite.

I'm a little confused by the t13 4 piece. If you have a ten-stack, when it procs and refreshes that stack, does it reduce your AP/Com. cooldown still?

No, your cooldown is reduced by a total of 50 seconds at that point, and will go down no further. The "Stolen Time" buff only stacks 10 times, maximum, so additional procs of Stolen Time merely resets the timer.

Should I aim to be at 2005 haste rating out of raid, unbuffed as a non goblin? The haste table isnt clear as to if we require 2005 haste in a raid or unbuffed.

Also, Rawr has me at 2500+ haste... (buffs have been correctly set up)

I'm trying to find some good material on Frost Mage PVP priorities...I've done some searches and I'm having trouble coming up with something that's really answering my questions. Anyone know of a good thread for this?

Travel Time

I have never, ever seen anything before this moment to suggest that is the case. Not anything in my own experience nor anything posted in any forums until this very moment. Since this is a forum for simple questions and answers, this is an excellent opportunity to post one.

Can anyone else confirm or deny this? Specifically:

Which is faster, a Fireball or a Pyroblast!/Pyroblast? Or are they the same?

Both have a velocity of 24 yd/s in the game files.

./simc spell_query=spell.id=11366

Name : Pyroblast (id=11366) [Scaling Spell]
Velocity : 24 yards/sec

./simc spell_query=spell.id=133

Name : Fireball (id=133) [Scaling Spell]
Velocity : 24 yards/sec

This confirms 4 years of observation whilst playing, plus a deafening silence on all other forums, and as the data itself is coming out of WoW DBC files, I'm inclined to believe it.

After a few hours at a training dummy, it turns out I was incorrect, the combat log reports identical times for the missile impacts. However, I would often witness a visual lag in their artwork, and one missile would reach the target slower than the other and which missile it was (Fireball of Pyroblast) seemed to be random. As far as Ignite munching is concerned, range to the boss should not matter, and I retract my previous statements. Thanks for the DBC research.

Is it worth keeping up the 3x ffb debuff through hardcasting as a frost spec to maximize dps? I hope the question can be understood.

Mage friends, I come to you hat in hand. I seem to be doing something silly irt my fire rotation. I've forged and geared as simc and rawr suggested, however, I'm having a heck of a time getting good combusts. More often than not, when my combustion is off cd, I either have no ignite or a shoddy one up, and no pyroblast dot up either. I've had a few ignite-less combusts this week because I was waiting until the last possible second and clipped too late. I know I don't want to be doing that.

Any input / advice is, as always, appreciated.

WoL log and armory link! Note on oddness in WoL--near the end of Hagara attempts, I went arcane to try to up my dps a little.
