Try doing it without your character loaded. It won't touch items you have equipped or available.

Hi Kavan,
There is a button in Rawr under Advanced to "Compute Optimal Arcane Cycles". It lists the top few optimal cycle palettes (presumably). However, the palette isn't too descriptive.
Can you add descriptions of what each of the palette strings means in Rawr so that user do not have to look up Post #625 of the Arcane Thread?

If what you mean is add a copy of description from that thread in the message box I can do that. If you're looking for description of each individual cycle that's not likely to happen. Most users shouldn't need to use that button, hence why it's on the advanced tab.

Yes, copying the description would be sufficient I think.
Does the button evaluate all possible cycles and list the top few DPS, or just a few specific ones? How does it choose which 8 cycles to list?

It evaluates all cycles and lists all optimal ones. Which are optimal is determined based on dpm tradeoffs as described in the mathematics of dynamic cycles thread.

Updating for 3.0.9 arcane changes
So after a bit of digging on the Rawr website to look for info on the arcane 3.0.9 changes (glyphs, spell changes, etc) I found a zip file on the "source code" section of the page that was said to include the "Arcane changes for 3.0.9" (change set 31275 from February 11th). I downloaded this and unzipped it on my desktop, but I can't seem to make heads-or-tails with what to do with the files inside since there's no intuitive spot for me to put them in my existing Rawr folder.
Could anybody offer some help on this issue? Thanks!

Just get Visual C# 2008 from MS website and then you'll be able to compile it and get the release

That's not intended for most users to do; if you're not that advanced, just wait for our actual release. We'll have a beta version of Rawr 2.2, including those changes, this weekend.

Now i rarely do maths, but it bothers me that for 18/53/0 Haste is worth more than Crit rating. Could anyone please explain some things to me.
With my current gear (check armory) i have 5.4K patchwerk dps fully buffed. ~65% crit chance on the mob itself assuming raid buffs and hit capped, 1920 SP flasked.
Does Rawr actually calculate the Hot streak well?
How would haste / crit change the dps while moving around. While intervalling with scorch and fireblast hot streaking and crit damage improves my dps greatly. Heigan the Unclean being the most extreme example of fights like this.

Why would it bother you? Even for Frostfire Bolt, which has a completely ridiculous crit multiplier, crit is only a little better than haste(and even then it depends on your stats). Fact of the matter is that the amount of crit rating you need to get 1% makes it a relatively poor stat in most situations, and only real extremes of multiple crit talents make it good.

quick question RE evocation in RAWR for arcane spec. If fight is set to 239 seconds you get 1 evoc, but if you set at 240 you get 2 evocs in the solution, but is the latter correct considering you need 6 seconds to cast it and another x seconds to consume the mana gained. so you only should have 2 evocs at the 240+6+x second mark?
edit, possible I am setting something wrong in RAWR that is causing this?.

You can evocate as 30sec, and again at 150sec. Where's the problem? You may only be using 1 evocate for a 239sec fight, because you are right on the edge of having enough mana without it.

What's there to model? It's a 98 spelldmg flat increase.

Raiding is full of challenge. Sometimes there is fire.
You have not to move out of the fire, it will be nerfed soon.

Did anything change in regards to FFB or Fireball spec with the beta release of Rawr? In the new Beta version I'm showing FFB slightly edging out Fireball when Razorice is up (10-30 dps higher depending on gear tweaks / draenai racial). In the past version FFB always came out at least 100 DPS behind.

Hi there, I Plugged in my 2.1.9 profile into the new beta unchanged appart from Arcane power to missile glyph, and the dps dropped by about 570 from 6027 to 5438 for a 180 seconds fight. full buffs, .2 second lag - anyone else seeing the same?

From the Readme, and the message box at startup, and the change notes on the website and the forums:

- Gemming Revamp! Rawr will now automatically handle gems, just as you'd expect. See Help > Gemmings for details. NOTE: Rawr 2.2 is not backawards compatible most of your existing data files. Please do not copy data files from previous versions of Rawr. Your existing character files should load into Rawr 2.2 just fine, except you'll have to reselect enchants on your gear.

To be honest, I wouldn't expect people to read stuff. They just click OK.

Log on with different model:
1- Create a character of the desired model. Log on/off.
2- At character selection screen, select your actual character; mouseover the new, desired model character, and hold down left click; hit enter and release left click at the same time.
bug Arcane Potency only applies to the first Arcane Missile bolt.

I notice in the beta, there does not yet appear for be Darkglow Embroidery yet. Or is it just not good enough to think about. I know for mages it's not, but there are priestly-like folks that do.
