Ice, outside of generic things like make sure you are modeling the mage, check the fight duration, and make sure you select the correct buffs, there's not much else we can help you with to determine why it's valueing mp5 so high. Give us some of the specs you are inputting, like a rundown of your the stats (sp, haste, crit, mana pool, etc) and fight settings. Alternatively, you can select "unlimited mana" mode to ignore the problem.
As for the weird gemmings, they were in there for me too when I downloaded it, and I don't know why. I spent a little while going through all of them and deleting all the duplicates and then reduping only those items with yellow sockets in which I put 3 copies with the 3 different topaz gemmings. I haven't bothered using the optimizer (I assume it still works?) though, so if that's adding those weird gemmings back then I don't have an answer for you.

To fix Gemming, go to Tools...Set Default Gems for Equipment. Fill in as many different gemmings as you'd like (I usually make 1 set with all Runed Scarlet Rubies, and 1 set with matching socket colors), and check the Delete Non-Listed Gemmings options. This will quickly get you some reasonable gemmings.

I remember it being mentioned before sometime in the past, but I really think rawr should have some impossible to miss "oom" warning that will remind you to verify that your settings are realistic (assuming in most fights with a standard raid mages shouldn't go oom). It just happens too often when someone asks why does rawr suggest he gears int/spi.

Take a large stretch where you're chaincasting and look how much time it took you to cast them. It's important to take a large stretch since there are quite some fluctuations in individual casts due to how combat log works. Now divide this total time by number of casts you did and compare to the tooltip cast time. The difference between the two is effective latency which you can enter in Rawr under Spells & Buffs. The default there is 0.05 second which is very low. Anything from 0.1-0.2 would still be considered normal. If it is anything more than that then you have serious trouble. This is called not pressing the button enough. Try some new casting methods, get some cast bar latency mods.

I wonder if it might be possible to write an ingame mod that would track latency in this fashion. Maybe the running average latency of one's primary nuke.

Hello
while playing around with rawr.mage I came to be wondering about this option:
Spell Sensitivity - Amplify Magic (on target, not self)
Which supposedly are supposed to give me a 190dps boost... afaik Amplify magic cannot be casted on targets!?

Asys, there is a search function for a reason. If you search this thread for "Amplify Magic" you will find your answer.

Yes I did search, and did actually find a few threads but reading through all the hits was a bit much. But still this is a friendly buff and shouldn't be giving a mage 190 dps extra in the rawr.mage model then... should actually give 0. After searching just this thread I see that it says it's intended for healers.
Buggy module then

This was perfect, thank you very much.
I've decided to just use Unlimited Mana, gonna bank on the fact that the devaluation of Int won't be too great to seriously skew results.

Something interesting I noticed in rawr 2.1.5, I enabled Loatheb's 50% crit buff and checked the interaction with LB during the rotation. As I posted before LB under this conditions is a very very minor dps increase (around 0.25%), however, and here comes the interesting part LB with patch 3.0.8 is in fact a big one or rather the normal 3-4% buff over the ffbscpyro rotation.
I'm guessing the fact that LB will be able to proc hot streak is what changes the behaviour.

Rawr doesn't seem to be adding in the 3% hit from elemental precision for 57/3/11. Was this removed, or is rawr not working? I have 3.0.8 checked, and its telling me a veiled monarch topaz is better than a runed scarlet ruby, even though I should be 3% over the hitcap.

Make sure you're checking the spell hit on particular spells. Even though in 3.0.8 it applies to all spells it's still only shown on each spell because of the default mode in which it only applies to fire and frost.

In the last 3 versions of Rawr (2.14, 2.15, and 2.16) I fairly regularly get an error in Rawr mage when optimizing arcane gear sets. I think it may be related to the way mana regen mechanics work, because back in 2.14 it would crop up whenever I would add something like Vamp Embrace to buffs while having an arcane spec selected. Now it just seems to happen when I optimize with arcane specs and relevant 25 man raid buffs selected.
It gives me an unhanded exception saying that "Object Reference not set to an instance of an object".
I haven't seen anyone else having this problem, is it just me? Anything I can do to help find a potential solution?

I like the addition of the additional gem slots from smithing, I just thought I'd metion that they don't seem to be contributing towards the requirements for the meta.

Majestic Dragon Figurine from Sartharion is listed when it's on a toon thats loaded into rawr, but it has no stats. Refreshing the item data doesn't seem to fix it, and it's not available in the gear selector.

I'm at work, so don't have the error logs. But I get a similar hard crash that I can reproduce every time w/ 68/3/0 build (but don't know if it's arcane related):
1. browse by legs, for example.
2. edit an item by right-clicking edit, change a gem, and hit ok.
3. browse by legs again.
4. edit another item by right-clicking edit, change a gem, and hit ok => hard crash every time.
-hope this helps...

If it says something like "cannot access a disposed object", that's a bug in an old version of the .NET Framework, and you need to completely uninstall .NET Framework, then reinstall the latest version from Microsoft (3.5 SP1 I believe, currently).

I remember reading in another thread someone posting that Rawr had been over valuing our t7 4 piece, and that it had been fixed as of 2.1.5. Is this still the case? Currently, in 2.1.6, it is listing t7 pieces as best in slot, regardless of gear set, as long as it would give me the 4 piece, yet everyone else seems to be saying that its worth only about .7 - 1.1% dps?

Raiding is full of challenge. Sometimes there is fire.
You have not to move out of the fire, it will be nerfed soon.

[Flame Cap]s work again in Rawr, yay! It'll be interesting once we gear out of 2T7 in Ulduar.
I think I remember Rune of Razorice available as raid debuff at one point. It either was removed, or I'm imagining things already.
Either way, it's currently not implemented, so keep that in mind when comparing specs. Unless I'm just to stupid to find it.
Judgement of Wisdom doesn't seem to be changed in 3.0.8 mode. Consumption of wanding does not chang for example.
It's changed from 1% max mana to 2% base mana per proc in 3.0.8 (reduction by 70% and more), which does make a difference from specs in long fights.
I haven't heard anything of proc rate/no cooldown being changed, so it's likely the same.

2 quick questions about using Rawr.
I imported my profile from the armory and I'm really happy with Rawr, I think i setup everything right.
One information i would like to try to get out is a List like the following for my gear and spec ( i use a default FFB build )
1 spell dam = xxx dps
1 crit rating = xxx dps
1 haste rating = xxxdps
etc...
I think i remember when i used rawr in the past it was there but i can't seem to locate it now.
Also i would like to add one object that is not in the DB by getting it from wowhead or the armory , is there a way to do that ? I wanted to add the "undeath card" trinket. I see ways to refresh the existing DB, or for me to manually create an object
. Is the normal way to create the object with no stat but the right name and then have it refreshed from armory or something like that ?

Judgement of Wisdom isn't updated yes, that is mainly because the buff system is common to all models and I can't change it for mage model only, I guess I could hack it in.
For rating valuations you can check the custom chart Item Budget (make sure to scroll down).
To add items use Edit Items and then click on add (it won't work for that trinket though since the proc isn't currently modeled).

Gwendoline: Tools > Edit Items > Add. However, I don't think we have the proc from it modeled, so you'll want to add some static stats to it to give some value to the proc.
