My AtlasLoot was showing the socket bonuses, and they updated the armory with loot tables and Rawr still hasn't been updated.

Everyone still talking about socket bonuses, I'm going to try one more time:
  • Rawr gets its data from Wowhead and the Armory.
  • Wowhead has only a few of the ICC items.
  • Armory has all of the ICC items, except for the Lich King's.
  • The Armory does not show socket bonuses.
  • We have one known issue with a few socket bonuses not importing from Wowhead correctly.
  • All of these factors combined means that Rawr does not have socket bonus data for most of ICC loot.

As a follow up, it is extremely easy to edit a particular item to include its socket bonus. Just right click the item and select "Edit" and then manually add in the socket bonus.

It seems like the Armory won't show socket bonuses unless the item actually has a gem in the socket. For example any piece of gear on your character's armory page (that actually has a gem in the socket) will show the socket bonus but if you click on that piece of gear to bring up its own page it'll show no socket bonus with empty sockets. Anyways, I found that very few items have anything other than a Spell Power socket bonus (on ICC gear) so most items I just edit to have a 5/7/9 SP socket bonus (5 for 1 socket, 7 for 2 sockets, 9 for 3 sockets/helms with meta gems). Also, really for the new ICC gear there's really only 2-4 new items per slot between the 10 and 25-player so it's not really that many items to manually edit.

I forgot to mention you should probably keep a backup of your ItemCache.xml (after you edit it) because when Rawr sometimes crashes it tends to screw up the ItemCache.xml file when you restart causing it to delete everything in it.

Is there any way to lock gemming options or enchants to a perticular item?

For example; my Arcane spec if my primary spec, but occassionally I go FFB. I'm optimised for my Arcane spec but it would be nice to be able to use Rawr to optimase for my FFB spec so it picks the best gear combination for FFB (more hit/crit) whilst making sure that it doesn't attempt to regem or reenchant items that are being used in my Arcane spec (although it would be fine to gem/chant non-arcane spec items). This kind of functionality would also be ideal for my Tree/Boomkin so I'm hoping it has been thought of already and there's a way of doing it UI've not discovered.

Thanks in advance.

You can prevent Rawr from regemming by ctrl-clicking the diamonds next to the item(appropriately gemmed). To select a specific enchant, right click the diamond and select from the option list. When you go to optimize ensure both override regem and reenchant are not selected.

Yes. Clear the diamond on an item, then ctrl click the diamond to turn it blue. Only that gemming is considered available. Right click the gemming and choose an enchant; only that enchanting is considered available. See the help topic on gear optimization for more details.

I've just recently picked up Rawr and trying to get things to work for me, I just can't seem to get it. I tried using just the Rawr intro video itself as far as settings go, and get a -* type response on optimize. I then went to trying the Rawr.Mage wiki, and receive a SMP error no matter if I set it to 1000-2000. I recently tried the Elitist Jerks Rawr.Mage info, and still receiving a SMP error.

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong as far as the advanced configuration. I doubt it's a lack of memory, as I'm running I believe 9GB of DDR3 on this system, with a Intel Core i7 940; an not sure if HDD matters, but if it does... I have about ~700GB of free space on this machine in specific. Running Windows 7 x64 if that helps any.

Can you explain a bit more what you're trying to achieve?

If you're trying to use the advanced solver, specially with arcane model these days it's way too complex to be used with best bound branching. You would need a limit way higher than 2k. If you're serious about using advanced solver (and I would only suggest this if you're analyzing optimum cooldown stacking) then switch to depth first branching and set limit to something like 30000, then open the advanced solver log from tools and look at what the solver is doing. You can also click cancel there which will give you the best solution it found so far.

I'm just trying to get very accurate results as far as optimizing gear, talents, etc.. and comparing them. As far as rotation goes, I have a pretty good grasp on the different rotations, so not too worried in that area. I'm not sure what the advanced solver is, I'm new to rawr so I'm not sure on everything at this point an time, still trying to learn it out.

I tried the 30,000 and it just stays as ---- overall, ---- dps, ----- survivability for a long period of time.

I know I can use just the default and it works.. but I'd like to get the most accuracy as possible.

Thank you again! =D

If you're new then just ignore the advanced tab for now then. In most cases in terms of accuracy advanced solver will only give you 0.1-1% more accuracy, but at the huge cost at computation time which is in most cases too much for purposes of comparisons and is only worth it if you need sequence reconstruction.

Ok, I will do that. Rawr should automatically compare gear an talents on it's own right? As far as being accurate as well.

An outside question, in the optimization dialog.. What does "Override Regem", "Override Enchants" mean exactly? I'm searching through Rawr.Mage Wiki and through the WoW forums to get more idea on some of the options that Rawr gives... So much stuff, it seem's overwhelming.

You'll need to check the Rawr documentation (Rawr), specifically the gear optimization section.

This problem still persists with 2.3.2. From Reflekxi0n's post however it seems like it's ok, so maybe it is OS-specific. I am running XP with classic theme and it looks like in Baruk's post. Hopefully this can be fixed in a future version.
