I use the Hotstreak icon pulsing.. it's a squared icon placed just near the target unitframe.. nothing so big and flashy.. just better than another text bar.. and there's also a small time at its corner..
I mean a little pulsing icon is more 1look friendly than another bar growing..
My highest priority was to get at least the upper two-thirds of my screen as clear as possible to be able to see any changes early enough. (More advantages for PvP but i don't want to miss it in raids anymore)
Grid is on a hotkey and displayed on the left side of my unitframe when needed. The DBM messages and timers move to the top of my unitframe shortly before they phase out.
I still have some issues with some of the minimap-icons and double-displayed events but those gonna be fixed in the near future.
Addons I used
I haven't spoke or wrote in english for quite a long time, hope you guys understand what I wanted to say anyway. If not, please don't hesitate to ask me.
ag_unitframes (Raid/party UI)
Dominos (Button blocks)
TinyCasterStats (It's pretty slow to refresh but w/e)
Elkano's Buff Bars
Cartographer (Only really use it for windowed maps, every plug-in but the main one is disabled)
Sexy Map (So much better than SimpleMiniMap)
TitanPanel (I've since removed it now that I found SexyMap offers coordinates)
XLoot (Disabled everything besides main addon)
Quartz (Cast bar)
AckisRecipeList (OCD Recipes)
I've also been trying to free up as much top real estate as possible. Not as sexy as most, but it works for me. I probably could take the UI scale down more, but I found myself most comfortable with this setup.
Ag_unitframes is the only unitframes addon that I can get to work the way I like it. Not to say it's entirely stable (I probably have to reloadui once a day), but it works great for me.
I don't have Scorchio2 for a reason. I really didn't like it, so what I did is I took Elkano's and made a makeshift Scorchio of my own. The Proc Monitor group has whitelisted all of my procs for either TtW Fire or Arcane as well as gear procs (anything from Hot Streak/MBarr to Lightweave/2pc T8). I then made a group with only Living Bomb, Imp Scorch and Shadow Mastery whitelisted, to monitor my Imp Scorch/LB. However, I exchanged some potential viewing area in exchange for potentially not seeing LBs (say when there are 3 Fire/FFB mages in the raid). Also, it can't distinguish between my LB and another's which requires me to keep more of an eye on the time left on my own cast. However, I've grown accustomed to it and like it very much.
I'm also weird in the way I like to have any spell I could ever use on a hotbar for easy access. I probably could drop half those or get a pop-up wheel-type addon.
Zelik: You need to disable your background.
(1) Go to "Layout editor"
(2) Select the relevant layout from the "Current layout" dropdown menu
(3) Click on the "Other" tab
(4) select the "Background" tab"
(5) uncheck "Enable"
You could substitute (5) with (5b) change the color of your background as desired. If you just want to change the background color, but not disable it entirely.
This is a very late response, but thanks for the advice. I've just upgraded to Pitbull4 and have not had any issues.
One question: I'm using the LuaText code provided earlier in the thread to display caster debuffs as text on my unit frames. Is there any way to control exactly where this text appears? Pitbull4 offers a large list of places to append texts to, but I can only configure the text to be several pixels from where I want it to be. Is there any way to enter an offset value or something?
Edit: Still couldn't find a way in the options interface, but found out how to edit the lua to do it:
Starting on line 521 in UnitFrameLayout.lua, the locations of all the text positions are defined using the SetPoint function. The second-to-last argument in the function is the x offset, and the last one is the y offset. You can add, for example, "+ 5" to the end of the last argument to raise the text up by 5 pixels from where it normally would be.
BigBrother I´m seeking for a mod which shows me when a buff is missing on somebody in a way like decursive.
Decursive I´m only using this mod when I´ve to decurse on move (Normal: Mouseovermakro)
Recount Not shown in fights (keybinded)
The reason why I´m using scorchio and classtimer: It was not possible for me to show the buffs and debuffs in seperate places with scorchio. And classtimer don´t support TTW (which I only track at bossfights because of spam by more then one add). If you have a solution for this problem pls PM me.
Omen and MyThreat: I like MyThreat more than Omen but Omen is in use because it shows me how much threat the 2nd Tank has.
SCT(D) and EavesDrop: I think I will delete ED ...
SBF: I have to activate any new buff and debuff in the options. Please PM me.
ActionBarSaver (great for all those hard mode/pvp/etc respecs to save button layouts,
with everything hidden drag and drop isn't quite as easy even if you only need to change 2-3 spells)
Autobar (Top Right)
BindPad (Used only for the occasional extra long macro)
BuffEnough (Good for seeing what buff you are missing)
Capping (PvP/WG Timers)
CooldownButtons (small black bar on top left of grid shows spell cooldown buttons,
top bar to the left of autobar shows item/trinket cooldown buttons)
Dominos (bar on top right of grid for a few spells that change for specs/macros and range check spells,
vehicle bar shows above cast bar when in a vehicle, everything else hidden)
FreeRefills (otherwise I forget to restock my arcane powder -_-)
Grid (most mages probably don't put this front and center, but I like to keep track of the raid and keep a similar layout for my other classes)
MacroSwap (hover on a macro button and it pops up your other macros, great for swapping fight specific macros)
Opie (best addon ever, use it for armors/wards/teleports/portals/raid icons/conjuring)
PowerAuras (only use for trinkets/heroism timers)
SatrinaBuffFrame (love this mod, top left shows all buffs out of combat, in combat it filters out your typical long duration raid buffs/auras;
debuffs in top center, and then of course the large icons to the right of grid for hotstreak/brainfreeze, living bomb and polymorph)
Skada (set to show threat in combat and then switch to damage out of combat)
StatBlockCore (along with a few other StatBlock modules, used to create the fake fubar at the bottom)
I use a lot of addons and I tend to revamp my UI fairly often but I am really liking this layout.
Important information is easily visable and there is a lot of open space to see whats going on.
Cristek, I use Power Auras for that. It isn't perfect though, for instance it can't differentiate between Resto/non talented Faerie Fire and Moonkin Faerie Fire, doesn't track JotJ for TTW, tracks Ret Aura in addition to Ferocious Inspiration and Moonkin Aura for the 3% Damage and 3% Haste buffs respectively (meaning even a holy paladin Ret Aura will turn the indicators on), and the 5% crit debuff will light up with even 1 stack of Scorch or Winter's Chill because I didn't create separate auras for those 2 debuffs with the value stack=5. Other than those few flaws the indicators work perfectly and most of those issues should never come up in a 25 man setting.
Here are the scripts for my buff/debuff indicator set up if you would like to import them. Make sure you are using v2.6.0.
I created a total of 24 scripts for the 6 buffs and 6 debuffs that I care about. The first 12 scripts are the 6 debuffs then the 6 buffs when they are active (lit up) and the second 12 scripts are the 6 debuffs then the 6 buffs when they are inactive (grayed out). I got the basic idea from what others have done with Pitbull Dog Tags (thanks Pikapewpew) but wanted more flexibility in where I could put them on my UI.
