Raiding is full of challenge. Sometimes there is fire.
You have not to move out of the fire, it will be nerfed soon.

AM missile clip addon
Quartz being quite unaccurate when showing the red zone for channeled spells, i find myself, more often than i would like, clipping my fifth missile. Is there already an addon who could show me if i clipped my Mbarr ?
I guess this could be done by checking combat log for AM hits beetween AB. And then keep track of it to tell me if i clipped a lot or not.

However, for older, mind numbing people like me, I need a UI that removes the useless information to prevent information overload. The information overload result in me ignoring much information and missing somethings I shouldn't. The key is to present only the information you need (drives an action). Then balance this with the fun stuff - its still a game right?.
I like DPS meters (motivates me to mash my keys HARDER), on use cooldowns, only the debuffs I can steal, or stacks I have to maintain. I don't need to know my crits, how much mana I got, everyone buffs going on or off, boss abilities that affect Melee only. This really empties the screen so I can maintain situational awareness. (rather than playing wow by instuments only - ie a healer staring at Grid playing wack a mole).

I wouldn't limit it to people with ADD who can read and process all of the information, myself for example, I'm just used to having it all there and processing it nearly out of peripheral vision. But, like you said either way it's a matter of preference. However, knowing how much mana you have is pretty important.

I've always limited my UI to show things that are actually relevant. With so many customizeable options and a variety of add-ons I find it necessary to establish what you actually need to see; what will have an effect on your performance in a fight.
For example I see a lot of UIs that have damage done by spells enabled as enormous combat text constantly flashing around their chracters, which I find completely pointless. There is no need to know that a healing stream totem is overhealing you. The warlock's imp casting Firebolt is not relevant to the encounter. DBM flashing big colourful fonts every time something special happens... Even DPS meters (!) are all unessential clutter in an UI that you can live without just fine. It's not really about being able to process all this information, it's that there's no need to.
No doubt everyone has seen a few UI's that resemble someone looking through a periscope. The truth is that there is no right or wrong way to make your UI: what you need to see is of course a matter of personal preference, although a few elements should be common, but a minimalistic UI should be centered around displaying important information in as unobstructive and easy-to-digest manner as possible, leaving plenty of room for the rest of the playing field.

try using this macro for AB, it prevents you from clipping AM...

It has been said a number of times before though...this will prevent you from queuing up an arcane blast until the client side registers the channel being finished...so lag could really screw you up.

Hi,
I got a question. I recently switched to a new UI from using Xperl and bartender4 to somewhat what looks more lightweight for now atleast. Using ag_unitframes and dominos now.
However it seems that one of things i'm missing right now is a visable difference in my target window buffs to show what i can spellsteal. Does anyone know a good mod for this? I would like to keep using ag_unitframes since i really like the mod. But it kinda hurts me in fights trying to find buffs to steal.
Also i'm still looking for a lightweight mod to track torment the weak. Anyone got some tips maybe?

I use Mage Nuggets to track spellsteal-able buffs: Mage Nuggets - Addons - Curse
It tracks other things for mages as well, although I don't use it for that. I only use the spellsteal and the little box which always displays my sp/haste/hit (I hope I'm not the only one who has forgotten to switch to hit gear ><). I also like that it tells me who used focus magic on me (I don't use the auto-thanks messages though lol). I was using scorchio for tracking torment the weak, among other things, but when 3.3 came out and scorchio broke I just stopped using it altogether and haven't missed it.

Anyone recognise which mod/s are used in the above screenshot to track AB stacks and specific buff timers (which in this case was AP and Icy Veins)?
I'm using Scorchio!2 to track mage related timers (such as AB stacks, MI, Scorch/Imp Shadowbolt) and Dotimer(fanfix) to create timers for a whitelist of specific buffs (MBarr, AP, IV, trinket procs etc), all debuffs and durations of polymorph, flamestrike, etc. Unfortunately both mods are in need of updates so I'm looking for other similiar mods that can also do the task listed above.

At the moment scorchio is pretty broken. :]
I recommend using Power Auras to track your procs and things. I have powerauras track my AB stacks, AP, IV, Lightweave.. etc. Power auras is quite confusing to configure at first, so if you need any help feel free to send me a pm. Power Auras Classic - Addons - Curse
Mage nuggets is quite a good addon to use to track MB procs, Mirror Image, and Spellstealable buffs. Try it out. :] Mage Nuggets - Addons - Curse
I'm sure you should also be able to configure those things using Pitbull 4 (maybe I'm wrong?) but I'm not sure as I just use powerauras and magenuggets.

My UI
My UI in combat:
Visible AddOns:
Mage Nuggets: to track MB, Spellstealable buffs, current sp/crit/hit.
Quartz: cast bar.
Power Auras Classic: to track AP, IV, Lightweave, Heroism, AB stacks.. etc.
Pitbull4: player/target frames, raid frames.
Bartender: organise my actionbars.
kgpanels: artwork for panels.
MikScrollingBattleText
Sexymap
Critline: to show my highest hits/crits.
Decursive
Recount
Omen
Chatter
ButtonFacade: button skins. (I use Vista)
I was aiming for a rather simplistic and clean UI, yet one which also gave me all the information I needed. (I can't bring myself to hide recount during a fight :P) It's basically a clone of EoyUI, and also of Monstorlol's UI. Thoughts?

Incidentally, Mage Nuggets also shows when Torment the Weak is on your current target and the latest version includes a "must have" feature ... Whilst mirrors are up you get the theme from the "A Team" playing for the entire duration

Visibe Addons:

Every new UI I'm trying to lower my Addon MB usage...Epic Fail as you can see ^^

Yellow for GCD cap (150%) and red for arcane cap (250%). Any haste increase is detected, because the script just reads the cast time of Teleport:Undercity.

Is there any way to limit this script to only show on my mage?

I've been playing with a number of addons trying to get the right feel and utility out of it.
This is what I was working with a couple of weeks ago. Included are the following addons:
Dominos
Grid
Quartz
Xperl
Decursive
Prat
Sexymap
Satrina Buff Frames
Recount
Omen
Deadly Boss Mods
Auctionator
Since this, I have changed around decursive and used Clique to make decursing bound to grid. I also cleaned up the look of the action bars and Recount/Omen. I have also now added in Titan panel, so my mini map now looks pretty bare. Most of my recent changes have been cosmetic, though.

Regarding Arcane Missiles potential clipping, i got an idea about an addon, made some research about how to create it but still missing a lot of clue on LUA programming so i'll post here the idea in case someone with much better skillz than me can do something :
Main point is to get count of Arcane missile hits via combat log and send to player the ratio (1/5, 2/5, 3/5...) when the next AB occurs. This variable would have to cleared after each Arcane blast hit (again detected with combat log) to remain somehow accurate. Potential flaw would be when using POM-AB as the AB would hit before the last AM tick but, honestly, i could live with this bug. If output could be sent to MSBT and colored depending of success (green for 5/5 and red for rest) that would cherry on the top.
Of course, such an addon would be useful for starting mages and people who get lag/rotation problems but i think anyone could get some improvement from it.
Thanks for the reading and criticism to come.

Still some work to do, but it's mostly cosmetic.

Unique to raids:
Recount
Grid & Clique

Here you can see what happens when I target somebody, as well as my castbar. Powerauras is used to show me my AB debuff stack and when I have MB up it overlays the static charge to the left of me. The countdown timer is only for AB stack.

Here you can see target's casting bar as well as target-of-target (in the middle semi-circle above the minimap with a text-%-life HP listing)
The bar at the top is my cooldown bar. It pops up when anything is on cooldown and shows the sliding to the right.
Not shown are my Poweraura graphics displaying IV, Trinketed state, and Empowered.
Vehicle and Pet frames are still a work in progress, I have the frame and health set, but I need a way to easily manipulate water-elemental ability bar to show only 1 or two buttons, and I can't get his freeze cooldown to show up on a sexycooldbar.
I borrowed the textures and overall theme from Demigod UI, but I rebuilt the entire thing from scratch to use my own background mods, keys, bindings, etc.
Addons:
Visible:
Buffalo
ButtonFacade
Chatter
Grid & Clique
Dominos
kgPanels
MageNuggets (for the hit value only, I will be replacing this with a panel that shows info in that black bar at the bottom)
Recount (only shows in raids, while out of combat)
simpleMinimap
Stuf
PowerAuras
Quartz
SexyCooldownBar
Non-Visible:
TipTac
SpeedyActions
RedRange
ReagentRestocker
Postal
pError
iThreat
CombatHideTooltip
ArkInventory
Auctionator
Edit: Forgot to mentions, Bigwigs is up there, small grey bars that appear just above the boss, small and unobtrusive, all text and warnings are disabled. The spells on the left side of my action bar are strictly for range-finding. The spells on the right side are dampen/amp magic, arc-int, my armors, plus food and gem summoning. To the far right are reagented buffs, professions, fishing, and a critter summoner.
I should have included this in the original post, but it was late at night. Here is my main inspiration so that everybody can see that I'm not that original, just a copy cat (that likes to do everything himself):

Auroram: That has to be the most elegant and impressive UI I have ever seen. Great work.
I´m tempted to ask you to upload it
I have a couple of questions:
1) The Power Aura Classic skin you have showing you Arcane Blast and time remaining, is that custom?
Edit: After reading your post again, I found the answer to one of my questions.

I'm curious as to what the addon is underneath the "Range" check on the lower left hand side of the screen. I've never seen that before and don't know what it does.
