Guess I'll chime in here. I overhaul my UI every couple months, but this is what I'm running with now. Focus frame goes to the left of my player frame.

Visible stuff is: Pitbull4, Quartz, SexyMap, EBB, Bartender4, Skada, Scorchio2, SLDataText, StatBlockCore, MSBT, kgPanels, Chatter, Grid, and BigWigs.

Looking over a lot of UIs here, I have a few comments. First, if you're using Arcanum or Cryolysis (or whatever the mage mods are these days), try OPie. You get all of the same functionality (likely gain some) and don't lose any screen real estate in the process. It's really a large improvement.

Second, I highly recommend Skada in place of Recount. Skada isn't quite as feature-rich as Recount, but it's much faster and massively lighter in terms of memory usage. I made the switch right after Ulduar was released and I'll never go back to Recount.

Third (thanks to Kyth for this one), in my guild the mages do a large amount of respeccing for Ulduar. In any given week, I run two versions of Fire/TTW, FFB, Arcane, and two versions of Frost. I started using ActionBarSaver which pretty much keeps me sane when flipping between specs and swapping macros and such. It's a godsend.

Jarlyn: What is the 38% on your player unitframe?

A general recommendation for people who use DogTags in Pittbull (or anywhere really):
[IsPlayer ? Class] instead of simply [Class]
It pains me every time I see somebody displaying the 'Class' for an NPC

Threat percentage. With the 3.0 changes to build threat values into the base UI, I haven't seen the need to run Omen anymore. Just a dogtag in Pitbull works for me.

I'm still a huge fan of the default action bars just because of how clean they are, regardless of what other people say. As for my raid frames I tried out Grid and it just didn't appeal to me. Although I am a mage and I don't really have to pay attention to the raid's stats, I feel a lot more comfortable being able to see whats going on.

Addons:
Omen- Threat meter
X-Pearl- Raid frames
Recount- Dmg meter
Eaves Drop- Extremely simple view of inc. and out going dmg.
Decursive
Deadly Boss Mods
Scorchio2- Tracks TTW and procs
OmniCC- Clear view of everything's cds

Personal cant live with outs:
Proximo- PvP frames
Hide Blizzard- Gets rid of the little annoying griffins on the default action bars as well as other things
ItemLevel
Atlas Loot

The added benefit of this is that if you use /target macros for various fights, it will restore them. Same thing with fire ward/frost ward (which I have on the same hotkey since I'm used to my warlock who only had shadow ward.) And having your wand available for Vezax.

I ended up creating abs profiles for all the hardmodes and just do "/abs restore mimiron", for example, each time we engage a new boss.

For those who like the idea but don't use Pitbull or want something more movable, I use MyThreat

Those looking for a proc monitor should check out event alert. Pops a medium (movable) icon on your screen when your procced ability is up.

Also, Jarlyn I was wondering if you could post up your addons and wtf for d/l. I run a similar UI (that ill post when i get home) but really like certain aspects of yours. I'd like to do a bit of meshing if possible =).

Sorry for not posting a SS as required (I don't have a SS available atm). My UI is spanned on two monitors and I'm using Aperture as a viewport addon to narrow the rendered area to my left screen. Right screen can have various secondary information shown but SS of it wouldn't be pretty.

I usually browse this website as I've found the hihglighted addons suit my tastes.

Couple of addons I'm using that aren't mentioned here:
- Macaroon and MacaroonXtras for action bars and keybinds
- IHML for changing one macro based on context
- Shadowed Unit Frames (SuF) (switched from X-perl recently)
- LootPlan for getting an added tooltip hint when something of interest drops (after keybinding item-adding it's easy to browse through content drops via AtlasLoot Enhanced and add the interesting ones to LootPlan lists)

Other addons I use and would recommend that have been mentioned in this thread are EventAlert, MSBT, Skada and ACP. ACP is really good when switching addons on the fly (with reload UI). Skada can show threat values as well so there's no mandatory requirement for Omen anymore. MSBT is in my opinion the best of the Scrolling Combat text variants.

I have to mention this also - with the recent switch to SuF my framerates went up very dramatically. I'm not addressing this to Unit frame change only as I tweaked other settings at the same time. Most of the tweaks can be found in this thread: WoW Performance Issues/Tweaks, Etc

Mileages may vary but I got 30-40 fps increase with couple of tweaks, namely:
- switched AffinityMask to 14, was 15 previously (running Q6600 processor)
- added the gxFixLag Cvar with value "0" (as recommended for Nvidia gfx users here: WoW Performance Issues/Tweaks, Etc )
- changed texture Cache size from default (32 MB) to 512 MB (one of the latest tips and a new setting added last patch)
- previously mentioned UF change

Sorry for derailing but I thought someone was bound to ask what I did if I came here claiming huge fps increases

Thanks Redberad for your post.

By the way, when you talk about:

- changed texture Cache size from default (32 MB) to 512 MB (one of the latest tips and a new setting added last patch)

Pleases, could you tell me how do you change that Texture cache size?

Thanks in advance

EDIT:

I found the command in the forums that you posted.

/console textureCacheSize 536870912
Thank you anyway

This isn't specifically mage related... but are any of these addons good for tracking the pyrite dot on FL?

I've found that Classtimer tracked the pyrite dot without me doing anything special to configure it. I use it to track my living bomb and scorch.

This is my mage's UI:

As you can see it is based off of Kyth's UI. No shame in it - Kyth your UI just rocks. I have adapted it to my own taste.

* Things I need to know immediately happen around my character
* Use the edges for other important displays but which are not as crucial
* Minimize the amount of clutter, and simplify the display of information
* Can be easily tweaked on-the-go and works flawlessly.

I made a video a a while ago, which can be found here. You can see how it works in combat and highlights of how some of the add-ons work. Constructive criticism is of course welcome via PM.

Only one note that is different from the video is I have since changed from CooldownTimers2 to CooldownWatch.

What you see:
* Bartender4
* BuffEnough
* CooldownWatch
* TipTac
* Grid +Clique
-Extra grid modules: Gridfriendlynames, GridindicatorsideIcons, Gridmanabars, GridMissingBuffs, GridRaidDebuff, GridRaidIcons. With SideIcons and RaidIcons modules I can see how well the raid is Focus Firing.
* Nameplates
* PowerAuras
* Quartz
* Recount
* SexyMap
* Statblocks
- Modules: Statblock_DPS, Statblock_Durability, Statblock_FPS, Statblock_Latency, Statblock_Memory
* Underhood (Awesome)
* Geist
* Bagnon
* Mapster
* Minimalist
* MyThreat
* SellFish
* StealyourCarbon
* BadBoy: Because I got annoyed at gold sellers spamming me.

Elk's buff bars can be set to monitor it. Just create a new group, set it to target and select the "Blue Pyrite" from the tracking debuff whitelist.

This will monitor all the blue pyrite stacks. If you just want to see yours, select self cast buffs -> whitelist (i could be slightly off with the exact names on the last setting, i'm working from memory here at work, but its easy to find)
