This isn't specifically mage related... but are any of these addons good for tracking the pyrite dot on FL?
If you use pitbull4 or xperl, I find it really helpful to increase the aura size for your own debuffs. This way, I can clearly see such important buffs such as pyrite stacks, malygos drake dots, etc.

With Xperl, it doesn't usually work when you're in a vehicle. I've noticed that especially on Malygos, no dots are the size of my own debuffs, even though my dot is definitely up.
if you use Elkano's BUffbars it's much easier to see your own debuffs. I also use xperl and I found the debuffs under my character to get bulky and in the way of the party or raid frames

My bad. I knew that xperl had that functionality but my experience was with pitbull4.
I havent done much research on the subject, but are there any die hard pitbull3 users who have switched to pitbull4 who actually recommend it? Maybe i'm a little obsessive, but i like the ability to customize absolutely EVERYTHING about pitbull3 and it seems "4" takes some of that away? i dont know. Can someone shed some light on this subject?
The main difference is the modularization of Pitbull4 compared to Pitbull 3. In Pitbull 3, you had a tree set up with all of your settings. Each tree had the same settings. What they did in Pitbull 4 is had all of those settings placed in one spot and treat them as a "layout." Once you had a layout set, you can assign that layout to "Player", "Target", "Player's Pet", etc. If you liked a setting that you would like to use for "Player" modular and the "Player's Pet" modular, you could assign that same layout to both, saving memory. You still can custimize a specific look for each module, but you don't have to. Personally I find Pitbull 4 to be a lot more powerful of a mod then Pitbull 3. It really didn't come to fruitation until they were able to implement Auras into mod.

Reason: Clarification
Cyntil: Nope. You have to redo the setup process. For people who like really clean setups, this is an opportunity to organize your layouts very neatly, especially compared to the mess Pitbull3 forced on you.
At the moment the difference between Pitbull3 and Pitbull4 is mostly a result of Pitbull4 being in beta. There are a fair number of minor bugs in Pitbull4 (but then again there are some bugs that will never be resolved in Pitbull3).
I made the switch because I like playing around with beta, once it is mostly functional.
Hinalover did a good job explaining most of the differences. I don't think there is a single thing you can do with Pitbull3 that isn't technically possible atm in Pitbull4. There might a few minor features that haven't been implemented, but not that I can think of. The only real issue that nearly delayed my transition was the way vehicles are implemented, workarounds are needed atm for minor aspects of vehicles.

This is not mage-specific, but the updated version of Xperl possesses the "big debuff" functionality in vehicles. I believe the toggle for it is under the Pet tab towards the lower right-hand corner of the options window. This will properly show a large debuff for the player's Engulf in Flames stack for both the raid encounter and the practice daily quest "Aces High!".
Edit: It is under the "Target" tab towards the lower right-hand corner. Make sure you have "Big debuffs" and "Pets too" toggled.

Reason: specified that big debuff is for individual player.

I agree with this. I experimented with Pitbull 4 over the weekend and liked the interface over Pitbull 3 once I got the hang of it. The layout system is nice.
However, I ended up going back to Pitbull 3 because I could not lower the opacity of my health and mana bars. When I moved the slider, the bars ended up turning black instead of becoming translucent.
Zelik: You need to disable your background.
(1) Go to "Layout editor"
(2) Select the relevant layout from the "Current layout" dropdown menu
(3) Click on the "Other" tab
(4) select the "Background" tab"
(5) uncheck "Enable"
You could substitute (5) with (5b) change the color of your background as desired. If you just want to change the background color, but not disable it entirely.
I overhauled it a lil while back. Scroch/living bomb/etc show up to the right of my toon. The health bar underneath My characters is my focus.
Edit: I got some interest, so heres' my list of addons. I use Caith for all the border textures (found in Grizzlysharedmedia). I'm not including any addons such as bigwigs/recount/atlasloot. To set my UI up, I used an addon called Align, it creates a grid on your screen which helps a lot.

Reason: Adding Addon list
My current Ui which i've been tweeking slowly for a while.
I have scorch/shadow mastery/winter's chill and living bomb debuffs above my cast bar and all debuffs below my cats bar. My Hot streak proc is to the right of my character in the same way living bomb is displayed.
addons:
Is anybody else using either Gnome Out of Mana or Timetooom? Or even an alternative out of mana timer? I'm struggling to get accurate results with either add on and help with either would be great
