I added it to the OP, however I got a little bit less dps out of it. You need to get a benefactor's subscription to be able to upload to the EJ website. Otherwise you can upload to rapidshare or megaupload or similar and I could upload to EJ.

It seems odd to include Dark Edge of Depravity in your Plate Only list. The plate restriction is there so you don't compete with leather-wearers -- since the polearm appears tailored as Feral/Hunter BiS we should technically stick to Vol'drethar in that kind of list.

I had a look through the current BiS lists for all classes who use a physical dps 2 hander and Depravity didn't show up in any of them, so I retract that statement and agree it's probably a good choice. I personally wasn't looking forward to competing for Vol'drethar anyway.

Obsidian is a great item, however the expertise would be useless in these setups. Also, in general T8 is itemized very well.
Since hit and exp are important to reach close to the cap, I tailored the gear choices towards reaching but not bypassing the cap (however, hit helps Cons and Exo do damage past 8%).

frmorrison, is there a reason you're using [Bitter Cold Armguards] in your hard mode setup instead of Armbands of Bedlam? They seem better by pretty much every measure; more strength, more crit, haste instead of armor pen and more of it, and a red socket bonus for more crit.

I have a question. In your "Hard Mode + Plate/Leather" BiS list you indicated three best input slots for a Dragon Eye. Now, since the meta gem is going to be activated anyway by the Dragon Eyes, and since the gem guidelines on section 2 of the thread suggest that +16 STR gems should always be used, wouldn't it be better (assuming that we get the meta bonus from the 2 previous Dragon Eyes) to move the Dragon Eye from [Footpads of Silence] (bonus is +6 AGI) to either [Bitter Cold Armguards] (bonus is +4 STR) or [Seal of the Betrayed King] (bonus is +4 STR according to this)?

I'd say there is no reason to insist on gemming Dragon Eyes to blue slots exclusively if there is another better socket bonus of any color (except red) and assuming that we're gemming for STR only anyway, i.e. no possibility to get a yellow slot bonus by using either Inscribed, Etched or Accurate topazes. In this case and in my opinion +4 STR, which translates to 10 AP with Divine Strength and Kings active, which is one of the assumptions of this thread, is better than +6 AGI.

I know that there is the possibility of Sovereign Twilight Opals as blue slot gems in order to activate the Meta Gem, because not all people are JC, and that is the reason I'm assuming you're using [Footpads of Silence] as optimal placement, but I would suggest that you make "*" the Sovereign Twilight Opal ideal spot and "**" the Dragon Eye ideal spot.

Anyway, really good effort on this thread. I was browsing the DK Forums the other day and saw a similar thread with BiS lists, which made me wonder why Ret paladins do not have one.

You mentioned hit/expertise enchants for those who highly value the hit/expertise caps but didn't mention +8 hit/12 stam gems for blue slots if you're not a JC and can use the hit it beats out both +6 stats and 8 str/12 stamina

Every gear list has between 8.1 to 9% hit rating, so 8 hit/stam gems would be a very poor gem choice.

I will delete those statements, since they don't apply to BiS gearing.

First of all, frmorrison, I'm getting two more dps out of your setup if I swap cloak enchant from 22agi to 23haste. Although when I load it in my Rawr (2.2.1) I initially got 6548, one less than you, but it bumps to 6550 with said change.

Now for my BiS (Dwarf) setup,

The best cloak is from a Ulduar-10 hard mode. While Algalon drops a good cloak, it doesn't compare to two sockets.

Thanks for checking, the haste enchant is 1-2 dps better than agility.

I uploaded your Dwarf BiS, I got 6575 dps out of it though (I think I had the socket bonus incorrect in my file, the bracers have a 4 crit rating bonus).

If you can find some setup that is better (I had the incorrect cloak enchant earlier, so I am not always right), by all means upload it to some site and I will look at it.

Yeah, from what I can gather, they do infact have a 6 crit rating bonus, which is probably why my Rawr is showing 6577 dps. Although 2 crit rating doesn't transform into 2 dps... there might be minor non-visible factors at play. I've had the same setup show discrepancies between 1 dps before.

Edit: I found out that after you update the bracers socket bonus to 6, instead of 4 crit rating, you need to unequip and reequip it for the change to take effect in Rawr. At least that puts my dps at 6577.

So no setups have found that Warhelm of the Champion or even Guise of the Midgard Serpent over Conqueror's Aegis Helm and using Conqueror's Aegis Battleplate over Chestguard of the Recluse
with Fury of the Five Flights and Darkmoon Card: Greatness as the trinkets with pretty much everything in the OP's Hard Mode + Plate/Leather list

to be the best setup? My Rawr is saying that this list is pulling the most DPS...

Fury of the Five Flights is pretty bad in Ulduar for Retribution. Literally every fight (except maybe Vezax) has some mechanic that if you catch some bad luck, it will drop and need to be restacked across another 20 seconds which renders it strictly worse than other equal ilvl trinkets. Any fight where you'd need to stack this 2+ times, forget it.

Wrathstone/Blood + Greatness is, generally, the best setup, depending on your other gear.

The reason why the Warhelm is not in a BiS list is due to Blood of the Old God (tons of hit), so the hit itemization would be wasted. FotFF is a good trinket in Naxx, but weak in Ulduar. If you find a setup that is better, post the whole list.


Edit: I changed the Waist: [Soul-Devouring Cinch] in the BiS Hard Plate Only list because it is better than Titans and it is crafted, so shouldn't make Rogues/Ferals angry.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't [Soul-Devouring Cinch] from Yogg 10 Hard mode? I thought the leather craftable was [Death-warmed Belt].

If this is the case, the plate only list should probably be switched back, since competition on YS hard would preclude many from obtaining that item initially/easily.
