It's always 3, haste just reduces the time between ticks.

Hello.
I am new to posting on the forum but has been trolling it for sometime now.

My main is a MS Holy which now dabbles again in Shadow because... well it is really fun!

But here is what i wanted to say:
The haste tables at the bottom of the first post, are they 100% correct?
Or maybe i am just reading them wrong.

In-game i am now at 30% haste which equals around 2600 haste rating.
But on the table it states that 21% haste equals 2700 haste rating and that 31% haste is 3900 haste rating.

Don't forget the Haste which you gain from Skill/Buffs.

For 30% Haste you will need 2589 Hasterating without DI / 2140 Hasterating with DI.

Great write-up. Would like to see a BIS section like Nidaba used to have in TBC. Overall very well written.

BiS lists were always a bit awkward; anyone who understands the class' mechanics should easily be able to figure out the best gear. Since Cata, doubly so - most tiers have incredibly obvious gear choices since there's a boss (or two!) with higher ilvl drops which make selecting the off-set piece pretty trivial. I mean just look at DS: there IS only 1 boots, only 1 necklace, only 1 wand... The only remaining discussion that could be of interest is trinkets. Everything else is pretty much self-explanatory.

Hello, I am new to shadow priests and would like to ask about the optimal behaviour in AoE/multitarget situations, ie.:

1) How many targets do we need for Mind Sear spam to be higher dps than multidotting?

2) What is the best multidot pattern where there are not enough targets for Mind Sear. I assume it is combination of SW:P/VT with MF to keep SW:P rolling. Do I miss anything? Should I keep DP up on 1 target all the time or is it always supoptimal to keeping SW:P/VT on as many targets as possible?

3) What is the best multi-target damaging pattern if targets are short-lived aka it is not possible to run dots on them for their full duration?

if the adds gonna live long, i would say up to 5 targets are good to multidot, mindsear is only good for alot of mobs which doesn't have alot of health and are located close to each other.

2. I actually do it like that: get 5 stacks of evangelism and ur masterybuff up, than start dotting the target which will killed last, after that get VP and SW:P up on every other, but i would still suggest u to use mindblast on CD(for good dps and keeping ur mastery up) and look on ur evangelism stacks to dont run out.
Try to refresh SW:P with MF to even get more DPS.

3.Mindsear.

PS: im sorry for my bad english, if u didn't understand something don't be afraid of asking.

It depends for me. If the mobs are low HP or there are multiple AOE classes in a group I typically run with just MS spam. However, if the mobs are a bit higher HP and there is a lack of AOE classes then I will use SW:P > MS.

Also, you can cast MS on the tank and all mobs around him will get hit instead of targeting one mob and it die and having to waste time tabbing/clicking to a new target to maintain MS.

I use a nifty macro [I use a similar one for TotT with my rogue], /cast [@focus] mind sear (or use the same format for mind sear as the guide uses for dots) Set your focus to the tank at the beginning of the fight, and play as normal. When you need to cast mind sear, it automatically targets the tank with one button.

Does the /cancelaura Mind Melt sequence with AA/mind spike, work with only SPs that have T13 pieces, or does it also work well with new 85s without any tier pieces?

It is just for the 4 set bonus of the tier set.

Well you could also use it if you have a set or two of ticking dots and are spiking down something else. It allows you a shot of having your blast get an orb instead of a spike (at the cost of a chance to spawn an apparition from that same tick if you would have otherwise moved)

While true, you're also making the cooldown a second and a half longer (since the cooldown starts when the spell is cast) in the hope a Shadow Orb might proc in that second and a half window from Shadow Word: Pain.

In the priority list, Mind Spike isn't even listed. Does that mean there's never a good time to use it?

In a normal circumstance, no. Removing all of your damage-over-time spells for a mediocre direct-damage spell is a bad idea considering that it takes you at least 3 global cooldowns to get them all back up again. Again, in a normal circumstance, it's only useful as a nuke spell for low-health adds, or in PVP when you're trying to quickly polish off an enemy with a Mind Spike-Mind Blast combo.

Now, if you throw the current tier's 4-piece set bonus into the mix, things become a lot more interesting. You time Mind Blasts and Mind Spikes with your Shadowfiend's melee hits so that each spell consumes 3 orbs. It's great for burst phases like Burning Tendons on Spine of Deathwing.
