Even at 300% uptime on the buff, for assassination the EP of this weapon is pretty abysmal given how much the dagger will cost on most servers. Best to stick to agility-granting daggers.

The subtlety spec is specifically designed for that.
Damage will be incorrectly parsed since damage done on the twilight realm is not recorded for people who stay on top (again similar to Halion).
Just wanted to expand on this as I have played sub for the last couple of weeks on this boss, and it is EXTREMELY useful for killing the adds in the twilight realm, far more so than any other class.

The spec I personally use is Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft. I have aimed for a mixture of survival and DPS talents. Enveloping shadows is mandatory, as it makes the damage we take in the twilight realm laughable.

I skipped serrated blades as it is more of a sustained DPS talent, and the emphasis of the encounter is on bursting down the adds asap. Imp recup and quickening are not necessarily essential, but I find it adds a nice chunk of survivability when your healers inevitably bail on you when their stacks start building up.

I feint just before entering the realm as you often spawn in straight onto a bomb, it also helps to have a full recup refresh just before entering. Shadowstep to the most viable add and blow shadowdance etc to nuke it down, using feint on every CD and keeping recup up 100% (both for survivability and DPS). With 30% reduction from enveloping shadows, plus 6% from imp recup and 50% from feint being up 90% of the time, we can stay in the realm often nearing 2 minutes, while the rest have to leave after 40 seconds or so.

Kill as many adds as you can and simply use cloak to exit the realm when either all the adds are dead, or cheat death procs due to having an insane amount of stacks or an unlucky bomb spawn.

At the end of the fight myself and our other rogue (hi Nosfe) usually have around four times more damage done on the adds than the next highest. It has also rapidly become my favourite encounter so far due to being able to bounce around adds with shadowstep, which makes a nice change from the monotony of assassination!

Edit: Just thought I'd throw in a vid of our first kill, as although it's from the PoV of someone who doesn't enter the shadow realm, you can see just how long the rogues stay in for: YouTube - Method vs Valiona and Theralion 25man Heroic

Quick question that I haven't found answered already. Does the buff from Fluid Death and Tia's Grace work at the same time, or will the higher one cancel the other out?

I've done Halfus 3 times. Each time my kicks are missing about 10% of the time. I am definitely behind the boss when missing and he is definitely casting during the kicks (i'm not missing due to a cast bar timer delay). I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed that and if Kick has been moved to a nomal hit table (I am spell hit capped). Never had similar misses in LK.

Kick is on the melee hit table, but the cap for melee special attacks such as Kick is substantially lower than the spell hit cap - so if you're the latter, you have the former.

If Kick is being dodged or parried by Hallfus, it's because the ability is going off when he's not casting - either because it fired after the cast ended once you account for latency, or because someone else interrupted the ability first.

I am definitely kicking in the 1st qtr of the cast bar so I don't believe I'm missing the timing. I have no latency issues on other mobs or interrupts on the same nights. The Shadow nova is going off so there are no other interrupts. My kick is off CD so that is not the problem. Only thing I can think of, is that I am Assassination with 0 Expertise and he is actually Dodging the kick. Maybe he can dodge during that cast?

If this is the case, it should be easy to check. Just look it up in the combat log. This would be the first case of this sort of behavior I've ever seen though, so it strikes me as extremely unlikely.

Once upon time there was an addon called Deadened (made for Black Temple, Reliquary of Souls encounter) which can announce interrupts AND also announce all kind of misses and reasons (dodge/parry/block/immune etc).

I have slightly modified older wow 3.0 version of this addon still working, it helps to identify problems with missed interrupts.

There is sure dozens of other similar addons, also you can dig into combat log, log parser interrupts section etc but immediate feedback after kick comes handy regardless, helps to set interrupt rotations too.

Quick question. I know hurricane can proc off of your weapon and your poisons. Can landslide do this as well? If not then does that make hurricane more viable? Assuming you have equal access to matts. Any information would be appreciated.

Landslide only procs on Melee attacks, where as Hurricane procs on both Melee and Hurricane.

Landslide is better.

I'm messing around with higher survivability specs for HM's, it seems like each point in precision is worth 205 spell hit, can someone please confirm that for me so I know if hit cap would be reachable with 1/3 precision?

The level 85 combat ratings post should help


You are more-or-less correct.

1% spell hit = 102.446 hit rating. So each 1 point taken out of precision is 205 more hit rating you'll need to compensate to reach the spell cap.

Melee versus Ranged haste

Tried searching for "Ranged Haste" and saw no discussion in the rogue forums.

Simple question1: Is "Ranged Haste" distinct from "Haste". -Nevermind, I think I've found this in another forum - ranged haste only affects ranged attacks. Please correct me if I'm wrong on this.

Simple question1a: If it is distinct, does it affect Rogue energy regeneration?
