My SimCraft shows the same opening sequence as yours. Maybe you can help me to understand something. How can you Ambush a target after beginning auto attacks? Doesn't that take you out of stealth? Oh, and by the way, thanks for linking the "how to" with SimCraft earlier. It was very helpful.

Thanks,

That I am not too sure of. I would have to assume that if you have /startattack macro'd on your ambush before your /cast Ambush line that the swing timer would initiate at the same time as your ambush causing your Ambush to hit before the first melee swing got off. But to be quite honest, not starting an auto attack prior to an Ambush is so trivial that it may not be worth the risk of breaking stealth.

As it turns out this is done for you automatically. By opening with Ambush your first damaging attack will always be an auto attack.

Anyone have in site on the new tool tip change for assassination? Would the too ltip change with envenom reading nature damage instead of and instant poison damage affect the overall damage due to no benefit from mastery?

The wrist is pretty sure a bug (similar to the Fireland belt).
Anyone some more Info about this neck?
I saw the neck drop last night from the first boss of HoF. So it is indeed there.

It is probably just to clarify that it is nature damage and therefore effected by nature resist but ignores armour. I don't see why they would stop envenom working with mastery, given assassination and rogues in general are mediocre dps at best currently.

Is there a reason that everyone seems content with 4+ envenoms > 35% as opposed to an alternative? Has there been modeling comparing the following rotations > 35% with Anticipation?

1) 4+ CP envenoms

2) 5 CP envenoms

3) if (4 CP and Envenom buff active)
{
use CP generator
}
else
{
4+ CP envenoms
}

SimC uses only 5cp envenoms in their current Assassination top dps model

5 - 116829 dps
4+ - 115549 dps
at 4 only if envenom is down - 116186

So 5cp is the best according to SimC. In none of those is it pooling energy to maximize envenom uptime, but the benefits of that would only get 4+ a smidge closer to 5 and I think that's reflected in the third case which is indirectly doing that. The only reason it was 4+ in the past was wasting the cp was more costly than the reduced envenom dpe. But with anticipation, I can't think of a reason to use a non-5cp envenom in a normal patchwerk type rotation.

That is a can of worms that would in all honesty be too detrimental to this thread to expand on.

If you are curious as to how the classes/specs are measuring up on each specific encounter, I would recommend checking out a raidbot as they compare actual parses. That being said you should also take any raidbot info with a grain of salt as well. The only reason I mention it is because I personally believe it to be a more accurate representation of the state of the classes than a 100% simulation.

What is currently the best racial for rogues? I am currently running challenges and wanting to maximize dps as much as possible even if its a tiny amount i would like to squeeze out as much dps as possible.

Currently Orc

So this, Rogue Races Chart - ShadowPanther.net, showing Undead as the strongest is not legit? It's updated just a few days ago, so I assume the TotG nerf is taken into account.

This and the previous are very good questions, previously in Cata Troll was simmed to be the best race, early versions of undead were also mentioned along with Panda due to double food benefit. There seems to be examples from a number of sources that all disagree. Is there any definitive source currently up to date with the answer to this question?

So I've been trying to figure out what is best to do with the excess combo points during Shadow Blades as an Assassination Rogue. I find it not too uncommon to be in a position where I have a lot of combo points, energy, and time left on my previous envenom buff. Not matter what you do, in theory you will be losing some amount of DPS, so I am trying to figure out which is the least.

Situation: Several seconds left on Envenom buff (2+), energy getting close to cap (80+), and combo points almost maxed (7+).

Now obviously where the numbers exactly are might change this a bit, or a lot. Easiest example is 7 combo points with a risk of losing 1 is way different than 9 combo points with the guaranteed loss of 2, and a potential 3rd.

So the options would be:
1) Use Envenom, clipping previous buff pretty significantly, but making it so you do not generate an unusable combo points and do not cap out on energy.
2) Pool energy until Envenom drops, possibly capping you on energy (especially since after you use Envenom you'll get your energy returned for the move) but not clipping Envenom buffs, nor wasting combo points.
3) Use a CP generator, wasting combo points but not wasting Envenom uptime nor energy.

I'm hoping for at the very least a general rule of thumb, though like I said, the specific optimal move might vary depending on how much you have of each resource and time on the buff. Probably the biggest change would be exactly how many combo points you'd be wasting.

My gut instinct tells me that the least DPS loss would be risking losing a crit combo points, and clipping envenom would be the next least DPS loss. But this is purely a guesstimation. Any insight is helpful!
