Step 1: Download spreadsheet
Step 2: Enter your armor
Step 3: Enter your talents (with.. sword spec lets say)
Step 4: Enter your swords (S1/2/3 to get an exact comparison)
Repeat Steps 3 and 4, but with Maces. Go again for Fists if you please.

Hi,
how is armor penetration modeled in the sheet?
if i add some -Armor to my gear i can not see any changes in the dmg of my attacks (Autohits/Styles)
if i get the targets Armor below 0 there is still a dps gain - is this behavior correct?
thx in advance.

The answer to the first part is that the damage shown in the DPS sheet (Min, Max, Avg) are prior to armor reduction. The armor reduction is factored into the last column only.
The second part seems to be an issue. I believe when the sheet was created, it didn't consider that Blizzard might add the recent wave of -Armor gear and thus didn't prohibit Armor from dropping below 0. I'll ensure it stops at 0 in the next update or if you are worried about it now you can change cells Q41 in both the Buffed and Unbuffed DPS sheets. They should read...
=MAX( ............whatever is already there.................. ,0)
Just add the "MAX(" after the equals sign and tack ",0)" on the end and its fixed.

Great work ... love this spreadsheet.
Future Requests ...
1. Can you please add the BOP items from Professions check box settings to the import for options? I have to reset these every time I do an import.
2. Can you please add a feature that allows me to hide some gems? e.g. Once you get to a certain gear level you don't really want to consider green gems, it would be nice to have a feature to hide these gems from the drop-down list.
3. I am sure that people use this spreadsheet to also evaluate PVP builds and gear. It would be nice to have an option to factor in resilience in to the dps calculation (i.e. less crit damage).

1) Planned for soon. Still working out bugs in a couple Macros before expanding their function. That said, it needs to be done.
2) I believe that functionality already exists. Check the bottom of the Equipment options, the same options that currently do not import. Let me know if the problem is that it isn't functioning correctly.
3) I consider that in the "nice to have" category. Honestly, that's probably not going to occur in the near future. There are a fair number of reasons for this including that facing and thus Parry starts entering into the equation for PvP. A fair number of other effects also change and I'm not even sure that all of the differences between PvE and PvP mechanics have been adequately theorycrafted. If one considers that the basic model for the sheet is one long sustained fight without movement always from behind, this is a far cry from what goes on typically in PvP. It's possible I might throw a bone to Resilience at some point (primarily because I wouldn't be surprised if come expansion Blizzard gives some mobs that stat and having the possibility pre-coded would possibly be advantageous) but that's likely to be a near expansion change if it happens. In short, there are other fish to fry first. I'm not outright dismissing this, but I wouldn't expect progress in this direction soon.
Although, that said, I do plan to expand the item listings and bring in more Resilience items for those who are making endeavors in that direction. I'd like the Armory Import to identify almost any item that might be equipped on save and often this includes PvP equipment. Also, don't be surprised when I add one of the most frequently equipped but worst DPS trinkets in the game, Riding Crop. It has to be the single most common item that goes unidentified during an armory import.

The problems with AEP calculation in the newest sheet exist not only with Hourglas of the Unraveler!
I tested most trinkets in the sheet and at least Tsunami Talisman and Ashtongue Talisman of Lethality display the same error in AEP calculation, that causes ridiculus dps-changes (positive or negative).
Seems like they all use the same proc modelling in the sheet that causes the error?

If the spreadsheet assumes my target is a boss, shouldn't the predefined target level be 73?
If so, is the serrated blades calculation wrong?
=serrb*8*70/3+435*'DPS Calc'!$N$20+'Gear _ Buffs'!Q78
Forgive me if this is a red herring, just seemed odd and a search provided no answers.
edit: ahhhh, it's my level not the targets, nvm.

Why can't I select daggers on the pulldown list?/Why can't I find item X on the pulldown lists?
On the Gear _ Buffs page, over to the right of the gear selections is a series of checkboxes and pulldowns. Cells Y44 & Y45 specify the types of weapons each list displays. The various checkboxes help limit the item lists to items you expect to be able to find or use. You will want to check that the appropriate boxes are checked before reporting a missing item. I should note that some items are not included because they are quite inferior to other easier to get items.

That should answer that.

Hi Dontmindme,
in regard to point 3 i believe that no one want the sheet to "predict" a PvP encounter.
Personally I use the sheet for both PvP and PvE. In PvP DPS is not the value that I'm (mainly) interested in. The information provided in Un-/Buffed DPS are more interesting. So it would be very nice if in the far far future the Un-/Buffed DPS sections of the sheet take some PvP attributes into account. Dmg of your autohits and skilled style SS, BS and so on regarding -armor and a given Resilience.

When I try to import from Armory I get an error saying:
"Compile error:
Can't find project or library"
and this line is highlighted in the debugger:
"Function getXMLfromLocal(xmldocLocal As MSXML2.DOMDocument30, path As String) As Boolean"
Edit: Hmm, having just re-installed, I found an old spreadsheet, doing the same thing, so it must be my Excel that need some help. Gonna look into this.

Don't want to be naggy, but now it can import, but cannot calculate.
It shows this : Picture of Spreadsheet
The calc works fine with the Sample sets, but not with the one imported from Armory.

Swap out the Armor Kit on the Vest. I had this problem reported today. The Armory Import knows Heavy Knothide Armor Kit exists as it's modeled for gloves. Since the Enchant ID is the same regardless of what armor piece it's on, the Armory Import function identifies it and adds the name into the field instead of calling it "none". The problem is that the spreadsheet has never had Heavy Knothide Armor Kit defined as a Chest or Shoulder enchant so it probably should be calling it "none" for now. The spreadsheet will likely do the same thing if a slow weapon were offhand equipped that wasn't defined as an offhand.
I hope to remedy this issue by making sure all weapons that can be wielded in either hand are defined as such, and all enchants are defined for all slots they could conceivably be added to. Since Heavy Knothide Armor Kit adds no offensive stats, switching it to none should fix the problem only affecting the non-calculation stat of HP.

I don't know if this has been adressed before, but I'm having difficulty believing the recent results of the spreadsheet for my gear/build. It says that, when raid buffed, I get 1270.30 DPS when a hemo/swords build. This is reasonable. However, it says I get only 1257.05 as a combat swords build, which I do not believe. I was under the impression that combat swords always beat hemo for personal DPS. Is the hemo debuff estimate built in these days? I wasn't able to find the way to turn on/off the hemo debuff estimate (it says that it's at the bottom of the gear page, but that wasn't the case so far as I could tell), so that may be it.

There's an option on the talents page " Include Hemo Debuff DPS Estimate? ".
And one on the gear page " Hemorrhage (count Hemo rogues) ".
Just see which one is active.

On the talents page, you have to scroll a bit to the right of the page to find the Hemo Debuff Estimate checkbox.
But, in case of a hemo build, you should activate that button, since it's basically what's hemo is about : sacrificing personal DPS for raid DPS. So yes, your personal DPS will actually be below Combat. The checkbox is there to see how the two compare with the debuff included.
In a previous version, the options on the talent and gear pages were fixed, they no longer stack when both are selected.
Furthermore, 2 hemorogues in a single raid is *never* a good idea. Even in a 25 men raid, the two will regularly overwrite eachothers debuff, reducing its effectiveness for both.
For good comparisons between the two, the hemo option on the gear buffs page might as well be removed completely, or at least be "off" by default.

First thank you for this tool, It's helped me increase my DPS by about 60%
I have noticed one problem, I have recently acquired a second Akil'zon's Talonblade.
I was wondering if there was a way I could add it to the main hand selection as well.
Thank You

Regardless of whether one really wants to use an item in a particular slot, I've just done that with all weapons to resolve a potential Armory import problem.
