v0.4.7 still has default boss armor as 13083 new patch 3.1 boss armor is 10645.

Please use the EnhSim by Ziff & others to simulate what gear, priorities etc are the best dps. You can use ShockAndAwe to export your paperdoll stats to EnhSim.

No what happened was that our own testing, theorycrafting and knowledge of the prior formula allowed us to datamine a formula that fit most of the data. The formula fit the data exactly for reasonable values of armor pen, and typical armor reducing debuffs. However, it was already known that extreme cases of armor reduction were not properly modeled by that formula.

The new formula suggested by GC (to be sure he did not give an exact formula, just a hint at how to build it), provides same results as the old one within rounding for typical armor reductionde buffs. Main thing the old formula was missing was cap on armor reduction, hence poor modelling of extreme cases.

Inquiry for the math savvy: How close to the old 3.1 weighting of ArP is the new one? Before spreadsheets were saying as combat I should gem for ArP as it would be a SIGNIFICANT damage increase? Is this still true? Is it possibly only true on only low or only high armored bosses?

As stated here, the calculation for armor pen is pretty solid already (except in the cases of extreme armor pen). I'm puzzled that you would have a significant damage increase while gemming for ArPen, as when I switched all my gems around in Aldriana's recent spreadsheet I experienced a small dps loss.

This not being the thread for said spreadsheet, I'll assume you were inputting your gear into one of the edited versions of Vulajin's .47 sheet, and thus were most likely experiencing a mistake in modeling.

Not sure what the other poster did, but I did see a modest dps increase using ArmP gems instead of AP, for my 3 slots of JC level gems. ie.. 27armP vs. 54AP

And I did use Vulj's new modified sheet, as combat.

As posted above. The weight of your ArP is generally going to increase based on how much you have. Given that I already have ArP in several pieces of gear innately, further ArP is going to be worth slightly more than just gemming it with no previous pen.

I'm also combat which could make a difference if you are mutilate.

Edit: Though I see you are combat.

I find the best glyphing for 18/51/2 to be to switch out SnD for Killing Spree and making the rotation 5/5/5. Anyone can confirm this?

If you are using Grim Toll that can affect it too, since that proc only gets better the more static ArPen you add.

Aldriana's sheet are very nice its just some of us get used to using one thing and hate jumping to another.


Now to get back on topic.

I have been switching between Titanium Impact Band and Sealing Ring of Grobulus to see wich is better but I am still undecided. Prior to the patch SRoG was better, but with the buff to ArP I am not certain but I belive TIB maybe better depending on how it is gemed? I been holding out asking this and waiting on Vulijins spreadsheet but my guild is finally getting there act together, heading into Ulduar and I want to look my best. Any thoughts?

I appreciate if people are used to using my sheet and are really looking forward to an official 3.1 version, but between the six days I raided this week and my actual job kicking my ass for a couple months now, I've been hard-pressed to find any time for this. I do have a version that has most of the 3.1 changes in, and it's likely that I'll release this version as 0.4.8 even though it lacks the improved modeling I've been trying so hard to add in for so long. However, even this might not be coming very soon.

I can't really make any promises about specific dates, so my best recommendation right now is to try Aldriana's sheets. You can switch back to Roguecraft once I've released an updated sheet if you are that attached to the UI, but personally I've always felt that accuracy of calculations is the most important thing, and there is no question that Aldriana has always been spot on in that category.
