My recollection from doing a lot of testing is that WoW rounds naturally for floating points (i.e >.5 up; <.5 down) but that integers get floored. There are certain anomalies. For example, if one is fighting a mob, it seems the mobs life is kept as a floating point and that at times you can appear to do more damage than possible because of the fraction you happen to be on. Sort of like how you can get 22 rep for one mob then 23 for the exact same mob next kill. I believe that you actually do floating point damage to mobs, but the combat log only shows whole integers.

Expertize calculation when race is human:
(Minor bug in the 0.3.2 LK (10/01/08) sheet)
DPS page, cells C11 through M11 are still using the old +5 expertize to swords. Cell B11 is using the correct +3.
Edit:
Also: Delicate Dragonseye doesn't seem to be satisfying the meta requirement for blue socket. All other Dragonseye cuts (Bright, Fractured, Precise, Quick, Rigid & Smooth) seem to be working fine.

Question about socket bonus
I'm not sure if it's been asked in this thread already (I did a search on socket bonus) but why is it that my total dps drops by like 50 when I decide to switch in a gem that deactivates the socket bonus? Socket bonuses usually aren't even worth half of the value of a gem, but just removing a gem wouldn't show a loss that big (which is around 10 dps).

My guess would be that your gem change is also disabling your metagem, which would cause the larger difference.

Wow, how the hell did that fly over my head. Musta been from using Aldriana's sheet for so long, where it didn't account for meta gem requirements. Thanks.

I didn't see anywhere in the spreadsheet that accounted for partial resists on poisons.
It's pretty minuscule, but wouldn't there be a 6% loss of poison dps on bosses?

If you have the time during your next update, could you include a Xs/Ye/Ze cycle?
It probably won't be too big of a deal with wrath closing, but eventually will probably still be nice to have.
Thanks =)

I too am not sure if this has been mentioned, but about the WotLK talent sheet, the talent builds are not correct. Is there a plan to fix this anytime soon?

still confused
Hi There!
My first post here, long time lurker and new poster.
After finally getting around to working with this new sheet, it pretty much fulfills all my needs to checking whether certain gear would be an improvement over other gear. However in a raiding situation where I don't have time to consult and use the spreadsheet diligently I would like to be able to use those quick AEP vaiues that sp00n's new updated version of the sheet generates. However, I can't seem to get the sheet to accurately display those values after updating my gear and DPS values.
I followed these directions:

Not as simple as I'd like, but still not too complicated I hope. - Enter your gear as you wish.
- Set AEP stats to 'none', if not already set.
- Insert the DPS value from 'Total DPS' into 'Previous DPS' (from cell C8 to cell C9).
- Go through each AEP stat. After selecting a stat, enter the DPS value from 'Total DPS' into the corresponding cell in row J one by one. This row must be filled, or the AEP calculation will not work.
Do not change the 'Original' field in cell J1. This is a direct reference to 'Previous DPS' and should not be changed unless you know what you are doing.
|
Let me run through it make sure I am understanding these directions correctly:
[0) I adjust the talents sheet to reflect my current build]
1) I enter my gear as I want (i.e. copy my gear/gem/enchants from armory)
2) I Copy the value from cell C8 into C9, which then updates the value in cell J1 automatically, but not J2 through J9.
3) I enter the value from C8 (or C9 since they are equal) into cells J2 - J9 ***
*** marks the step I think I am going wrong. Maybe I am reading the posts wrong or not understanding them correctly. Could someone please help me figure this out? I did check out the entire thread, and saw MasterDinadan's post:

If you look at the Gear tab, you'll notice a table in the top right that indicates "Original" DPS (this is the value calculated by the spreadsheet) as well as several DPS values next to appropriate stats. These stat-modified DPS values do not contain formulae at all. In fact, you have to manually change the numbers every time you adjust your stats. The gear tab has a selection at the bottom for AEP Stats. When you want to find AEP values for your specific set of gear/talents, you have to manually select each AEP stat option and enter the value into the top right table.
The spreadsheet is not sophisticated enough to calculate several different DPS for slightly different sets of stats, so it's up to the user to manually change the stats and record the DPS changes. If you don't, the values in the table are completely wrong and the results are meaningless.

This again makes sense, but I seem to still be doing something wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Final note: Sorry if the format of this post is a little awkward, still trying to figure out the mechanics of just posting and quoting properly in here. Maybe I am just lame and suck with excel/forum/class mechanics in general ;-)
Edit: Corrected format of sp00n's quote to proper quote from copy and paste.

Links, do you copy over the formula of C8 to C9, or the actual value?

I copy the number value, not the formula.
Could this be that I am running the spreadsheet with Office 2003 on a Mac? It doesn't seem like that should be the case, but I don't know enough about the program to make a qualified statement.

Are you making sure to change the AEP Stats button each time? The reason he uses total DPS instead of Previous DPS is that when you adjust the cell (B89), your value for Total DPS should change. Then you take THAT number and put it into its corresponding cell in the J column.
So for example, you would change AEP Stats to "none," copy the value from C8 to C9 to make sure you have a baseline, then change B89 to "AEP Strength" for example, and take the new value in C8 and put that value into J2.

Yep, I got it. I wasn't setting them to none at the bottom of the sheet, so I was misunderstanding the directions. Now if makes sense. Thanks!

I'm not totally sure if I'm correct, if it has been mentioned, or if it even matters, but for some reason I can't select Fang of Kalecgos for my mainhand-- only offhand. Only option is to plug in all the stats, which isn't that big of a deal.
Just making sure I'm not missing anything.

You can unhide the MH and OH sheets and copy the cell for Fang of Kalecgos into the MH sheet.
Format - Sheet - Unhide.. select MH and OH. Right click the # of the cell Fang of Kalecgos is in on the offhand sheet, and hit copy. Then go to your main hand sheet, find where you want to insert the cell, and click right the number you want and hit "insert copied cell(s)".
This should get you the desired result. Hope it helps!

You can add any item to the proper gear sheet as well, just insert a row and fill in the stats. The weapon damage is an average so when you fill that in you need to calculate it out and use that. (100-200 damage = 150 average)

Ok, I'm not 100% sure where this question should be, so I'm posting it here. Essentially, I have tried to cross-reference the spreadsheets to get an idea on what kind of gearing I should be doing since I'm somewhat lost in what is an upgrade. I am currently running mutilate with Tracker's MH and Heartrazor OH and both are mongoosed. I picked up the Glacier Sharpened Vileblade from the nexus tonight and just got a quickie +50 AP enchant from a guildie. Without the spreadsheets having all the necessary gear I'm just wondering whether or not the GSV is an upgrade considering it is a 1.7 speed, but not mongoosed. Shadowpanther also has it as an upgrade point-for-point, but, as i said, my heartrazor is 'goosed. I know in the end its probably a moot point considering they'll be upgraded eventually, I just would like some input on how much mongoose is actually worth in this situation. Thanks.

So I was hoping that Vulajin had updated his sheet now that I'm approaching 80, but alas, no luck apparently.
Therefore I updated the 0.3.2 LK with all the changes I've done to the BC sheet, plus some more bugfixes that were mentioned here.
Hopefully Vulajin will soon be able to go back to his sheet, as currently it is the only one working for WotLK.
Roguecraft LK 0.3.2 sp00n v1
Download
Changes:
| Mechanics | Added AEP calculation in DPS sheet | | Mechanics | Added AEP sheet (hidden, for select list) | | Mechanics | Added AEP, EP & DPS display on Gear sheet | | Mechanics | Moved saveddps from DPS sheet to Gear sheet (cell C9) | | Mechanics | Added Wound Poison | | Mechanics | Added 0.2% crit depression per target level higher than player level (DPS & DPS Calc 1-3 sheet) | | Content | Rearranged weapons. Sorted by name and moved BC weapons to the bottom of the list. | | Content | Added some fast daggers from BC to the main hand tab | | Content | Added Cloak of Fiends (BC) to the cloak section | | Content | Added Surefooted as Foot enchant | | Content | Added Rating -> % conversion values to the Constants (DO NOT TOUCH) section (for pure information only) | | Content | Changed armor to 12000 to presumably match the 10% increase | | Bug | Changed validity (sic?) for OH temp enchants to '=ohtempenchantlist' to reflect the MH settings (removes bug where you could select Adamantite Sharpening Stone) | | Bug | Corrected Rupture bug for Xs/Xr/Xe cycle (Cycles (and Cycles1-3) row 187) | | Bug | Fixed human racial to be 3 expertise (down from 5) | | Bug | Fixed Delicate Dragon's Eye to be Prismatic (was only Red) |
If you find any bugs, let me know. Note that I will not add any new features to the sheet (unless I want them for myself) and that I am not the new maintainer for it!
It's still Vulajin's sheet, I merely added some features I thought were useful to it.

I tried adding a weapon to the spreadsheet, unhid the offhand sheet, added a row at the bottom of the weapons and filled in the stats but it's not showing up on the list of offhands on the gear sheet. The weapon is corroded saronite woundbringer if anyone feels like adding it and posting a link to a download.

Adding to the bottom won't work, since you're adding it outside of the "boundaries" of the select list.
Try adding it somewhere in between, that extends the select list automatically. You can then arrange it by your needs by simple copy & paste etc.

Is there any way we could add an "ignore gear" tab and just manually enter unbuffed agi/ap/hit/crit/haste/arpen. I am finding it very difficult to judge an item's worth based on stats now, since most of my gear was badge, and not Sunwell, I am upgrading a great many pieces to blues from lvl 80 dungeons, quest rewards, and heroics.
