I have been having problems as well getting the spread sheet to work correctly with open office... Forgive me for I am most likely a moron and something very elementary is probably my problem... I have tried both OO 3.0 and 2.4 and both do about the same thing.... When i Try opening it up first it coems up with ASCII filter options... (This is different already from previous Spreadsheets i have used being as it just came up and i was able to start its usage) Anyways it allows me to set the font for some reason and no matter what i choose it comes up with about 900 pages of about a paragraph on each one saying 鐷$)#靶*N+QM#H?4乎#t(HR WG摯8刌EO#ya-Q#(tth#O- *,E;D*E*◇yO=p}K踱*峗镽M霑*"*y.0瀾 "# ETC.... So what am I doing wrong.. any Insight whatsoever would be helpful.

not sure if this is your problem with using open office but mine was easily solved considering that i'm apparently blind and i didn't bother noticing it was a .rar file before i just tried to open it.
After i used winrar it's doing fine.

Version 0.4.0 LK is now available via the download link in the first post. Changes in this version:

- Relentless Earthstorm Diamond and other effects that boost crit damage now affect poisons.
- Added many recently discovered pieces of gear.
- Added fast daggers to main hand weapon selection.
- Glyph of Sinister Strike increased to provide 50% chance for its proc.
- Added Wound Poison.
- Implemented Enchant Weapon - Berserking.
- Several incorrect/nonexistent/suboptimal enchants removed.
- All BC gems removed. If you haven't upgraded your old epic gems to imperfect uncommon gems from the AH, you're a slacker.
- Liked sp00n's idea of sorting weapons by name with BC weapons at the bottom, so I yoinked it.
- Fixed an error in Rupture cycle calculations.
- "Plugged in" the on use effects of several trinkets.
- Human racial now properly provides 3 expertise for all types of attacks.
- Fixed dumb bug where meta gems were activating in helms with no meta sockets. Who uses those anyway?
- Delicate Dragon's Eye (JC Only) is now properly prismatic rather than red.

Partial resists on poisons go unimplemented because I haven't found conclusive proof of the exact amount of the damage penalty incurred.

(edit)

Fiddling around with this version of the sheet, it occurs to me that weapon speed has an interaction with DPS output that kind of precludes any simple equivalence comparison between weapon speed and weapon DPS, like the one we used to use with Combat Potency. Basically, the faster your weapon gets, the greater the DPS gain you will experience by increasing its speed further (or in other words, by reducing its listed weapon delay by 0.1). So for example, I found that going from 1.5 speed to 1.4 increased my DPS by 38, and then increasing from 1.4 speed to 1.3 increased my DPS by 45.

This results because the proportional gain in attacks per second per point of 0.1 weapon delay increases as your weapon gets faster. Thus, as that proportional gain increases, so does your proportional gain in poison procs (which are directly related to your frequency of attacks per second). In other words, each additional point of faster weapon speed increases your rate of poison procs by more than the previous point, thus resulting in increasing gains.

What this means for actual application is basically that it is hard to create a simple equivalence rule for comparing weapons. You basically must use the spreadsheet if you wish to compare weapons of differing speeds and DPS.

(edit 2)

I had previously stated that I believed there was something wonky occurring with armor penetration procs/effects in this sheet. I no longer believe that to be the case. Everything seems to be in order at all stages of the armor penetration calculations.

Drums of battle no longer work at lvl 80.
It is set to TRUE by default in buffs section under Other Buffs.

P.S.
Great job on the sheet and thanks for the update.

I'm interested in what the general consensus on Berserking seems to be. Plugging my current gear into the spreadsheet, I get about a 22 DPS increase from switching MH Mongoose to Berserking, and around half that by upgrading the Off-Hand. I'm Combat -- I haven't checked exactly how much Mutilate would gain from upgrading in a similar fashion, but given Aldriana's Rough EP weights peg Agility as worth 2 AP for both specs, I assume it would be about the same DPS increase. My issue is that Berserking seems to come with a pretty considerable downside for a not-so-large DPS increase especially on the Off-Hand.

First of all, there's just the plain old annoyance of having weapons which remove half your armor when they're both proccing in solo and PvP. I realize that's pretty irrelevant though, given we're interested in Raid DPS. More annoying are the multitude of physical damage sources in a raid, such as Whirlwinds, Cleaves (if you can honestly tell me you've never stood in one by accident, you're a far better rogue than I), Stomps, random other Shatter-type mechanics (Gruul, if that was affected by armor) or even Aggro Pulls (I mean, it happens...adds on something like M'uru or Gothik), as well as the odd encounter where you're actually supposed to be taking physical damage (in TBC that included Reliquary, Bloodboil, Leotheras, and probably others I can't think of).

I don't think anyone in their right mind will be picking up Berserking right now with Abyss Crystals at their current prices for such a DPS increase. But do you guys think it's even worthwhile to be often taking an extra ~10% physical damage?

Edit: Additionally, assuming I understand the way scaling works, Mongoose should scale better with gear than Berserking (1 Agility becomes worth increasing amounts of Attack Power as your other stats improve). If Berserking is worth the upgrade now, when does it become "not worth it?"

Thank you very much for the update Vulajin. Your work is much appreciated.

With regards to the poison partial dmg penalty, I checked the WWS from my guild's clears on Monday and the instant poison dmg mitigated was fairly consistent amongst the 3 rogues (3.3%/3.4%/3.4%) for the night (about 4000 hits total). The interesting thing was deadly poison's mitigation was higher (4.7%/4.5%/4.6%) with over 5000 ticks. I'm guessing it has something to due with the stacking nature of the ticks and how they affect the dot dmg.

I'm curious to see if others have seen similar results in their WWS parses.

One thing I'm not sure of though is how WWS actually interprets dmg mitigated. The combat log improperly shows the amount resisted for crits (it shows the pre-crit amount resisted, not what the actual dmg lost is), so the amount mitigated could be even higher if WWS simply adds up the (resisted) numbers from the combat log.

Would it be possible to add presets, like the cookie cutter builds and the right type of attacks? I am currently trying to set up combat, as mutilate is default. I think "Xs/Yr/Ze" is the correct choice for me, but I am not sure and there are quite bit DPS variations between the different cycles I can choose from. Also the "minimum x/y", are those still supposed to be 4 with combat?

There are not likely to be preset builds or cycle setups at any time; if you're having trouble figuring out what builds or cycles are best, wait for me to finish updating the PvE DPS article, or else just play around until you find something that works.

With the new 0.4.0 sheet I'm getting N/A all over the place when changing the helm to my Hood of the Furtive Assassin and removing the default metagem (obviously). Setting it to any of the metagems makes the calculations just fine. Am I missing an option somewhere that enforces metagems? In earlier versions as well as Sp00ns updates I didn't see this occur.

Can you add [Fury of the Encroaching Storm]Storm to trinkets dop down.
Thanks for the update.

p.s. wowhead shows the trinket as having a 1 min cd now, in game it is 1.30 seconds.

@rwlz its been repeatedly layed out in the thread how to add your own items, please read up on it. To get some estimates, the trinket is 20s out of 90s up which is 20 / 90 = 22.2% and leads to 280*0.22 = 62.22AP averaged over time.

Thanks kaoschten for the heads up. After reading/scanning through all 19 pages of this thread this is what I did.

Unhid Trinket sheet
Inserted a line in the table up a few from the bottom trinket entered
entered trinket name and the amount under haste column

Unhide Cooldown Sheet 1, 2 and 3 (do the following for each one)
Under 90 sec's Insert a line between figurine - shadowsong panther and 90-Second Cooldowns
Input trinket name and duration
edit formula in AP cell to show 280x7
after doing this I noticed cell 1 under column T changed its amount to 62.222repeating.

When I go back and select Fury of the Encroaching Storm and Fezzick's Pocketwatch from the drop down and then go back and look at the three cooldown sheets again Sheet 1 has a both trinkets TRUE under active along with blade flurry but sheets 2 and 3 only have Fezzick's and Blade Flurry active TRUE.

When comparing the two trinkets, Fizz's gets 36.30 more total dps.

Did I do this right?

Thanks

Good to see a new version Vulajin.

For all those who like AEP values as much as I do, I've come up with a different solution, which doesn't require me fiddling around with the sheet and supports a one-click calculation. Obviously for Excel only.

I just created another sheet, which contains nothing but the AEP calculation and a macro to do this automatically*.
All you have to do is enter the Roguecraft sheet file name in the appropriate window and hit 'Run AEP Calculation'.
The macro now does all the work you formerly had to do yourself and inserts the values into the AEP/EP/DPS list.

It also generates a Pawn string to import (no gems here right now), and a link to the rankings on WoWHead and LootRank.

How to use:
  • Open up the Roguecraft sheet and enter your gear as you wish.
  • Open up the Roguecraft AEP sheet and hit 'Run AEP Calculation'.
  • Done.

Obviously you have to allow macros for this sheet to make use of it. Also, OO users are currently fucked over. I just recently installed OO 3, maybe I'll get it working there too, but won't promise anything yet.

Download Roguecraft.AEP.v1

Additionally, there are several things I've noticed in the current sheet:
  • Titanium Belt Buckle mislabelled, name is now Eternal Belt Buckle
  • Arcanum of Tormentation mislabelled, name is now Arcanum of Torment
  • For Killing Spree, you multiply the avg. damage with mharmor resp oharmor (DPS sheet, cell L22/M22).
In the other columns this does not happen, and on previous sheets this also wasn't present. Bugfix or bug?
  • Could you move the saveddps variable from the DPS to the Gear sheet? I think its current position just makes comparing equipment too tedious.

*
How it works:
  • The macro tries to find Agility, Strength, etc in row 11 of the Gear sheet
  • It then finds out the column number
  • It saves the current formula of row 12 + above column (which is the first stat row for main hand weapon) in a variable
  • It sets the value of this cell to its current value + nextstat (which is set to 20)
  • It copies the totaldps value to the according field for Agility, Strength, etc (just like manually before)
  • It restores the original formula of the cell
  • After all values have been assembled, the macro is done and Excel itself does the AEP calculation

Now replacing a formula with a value and restoring the formula afterwards isn't very good style I suppose, but it was the only(?) way to get the macro to work without having to change anything in the original sheet, which was my intention.
Also this was the first time ever I've touched VBA code, so bear with me any crude implementions you might encounter.

Killing Spree is handled that way because I was having a brain fart and couldn't think of how to properly apply the armor bonuses for each hand within the cell B45. I realize that doing so is not particularly hard, so in the next version this will be changed for consistency's sake.

Saveddps is likely going to end up being four separate cells, one on each of the four main settings sheets, so that it's more accessible while also allowing people to save multiple DPS outputs. (For example, if you wish to save the output related to a particular spec on the Talents sheet and then save the output related to a particular set of gear with that spec on the Gear sheet, that would be doable. Not sure how useful this will be for people, in my head it seems like a good solution.)

[Fury of the Encroaching Storm] is technically too low item level to be included, but since I violated that rule for several other trinkets, I'll add it in 0.4.1. Also, I'll look into the meta gem issue, but you know, you people would have a lot fewer errors with that stuff if you just used a helm with a meta socket. I hear the last boss of Heroic Oculus drops a nice one. :p

(edit) Found the meta gem error, will be fixed in 0.4.1.

I took the liberty of making some modifications to Vulajin's latest spreadsheet.

I inserted the precision enchant for gloves and created the ability to save and retrieve gear sets. I plan on making it possible to delete them once they are made too, but for now you will have to unhide the "Gear Sets" sheet and delete the relevant column yourself if you want to do that.

If Vulajin wants me to take it down I will happily do so, but I figured some people might be interested in this so I posted it.

Cherubael.xls - FileFront.com

Sorry but you have to enable macros to run this. Don't worry I'm not a hacker.

FULL CREDIT STILL GOES TO VULAJIN, I AM JUST AN EXCEL NERD.

I have built a simulator which models nothing and simulates everything. I have done a fair amount of testing against the spreadsheet and they have more or less matched in some areas. I have simulated 750 strategies across 3 different combat swords builds and the following is the XML which describes the best of those 750. Now, I was a little surprised and of course the values could be incorrect so could you knowledgable people who know the spreadsheet well run your eyes over my results and let me know if there is anything strange about them?

I was trying to upload all 750 strategy results but was having trouble with the hosting sites.

Its against a level 80 mob, the length of the battle was 600 seconds and the base armour of the mob was 7000.

EDIT - The strategy description was wrong, it was a 5CP rupture not a 1CP rupture.
<Strategy>
<Description>DP-IP- CombatSwords_7_51_13 - Start up a 1CP SnD. Then whilst the rupture timer is greater (2.4 * 5) + 1 perform SS. When its less than that, SnD and build up to a 5 CP rupture. Performs Killing Spree if it can always. Performs Blade Flurry if it can always.</Description>

Regarding sp00n's AEP conversions, i've been doing one thing that makes sense when using pawn.

For the hybrid ratings, it's better to divide them by their current Conversion Factor ("conv" in the spreadsheet), this way it's not overinflating their value.

This makes absolute sense when you are using the DPS estimation in Pawn.

Using the 3.2 sheet, I created another table off to the right that broke the values down to their per-rating value like so:

Code for the AEP Ratings Column
Hit Rating: =SUM(L5/hrbase/conv)
Crit Rating: =SUM(L6/crbase/conv)
Exp Rating: =SUM(L7/xpbase/conv)
Haste Rating: =SUM(L8/hsbase/conv)
ArPen Rating: =SUM(L9/arpbase/conv)
Code for the EP Ratings Column
Hit Rating: =SUM(N5/hrbase/conv)
Crit Rating: =SUM(N6/crbase/conv)
Exp Rating: =SUM(N7/xpbase/conv)
Haste Rating: =SUM(N8/hsbase/conv)
ArPen Rating: =SUM(N9/arpbase/conv)
Code for the DPS Ratings Column
Hit Rating: =SUM(P5/hrbase/conv)
Crit Rating: =SUM(P6/crbase/conv)
Exp Rating: =SUM(P7/xpbase/conv)
Haste Rating: =SUM(P8/hsbase/conv)
ArPen Rating: =SUM(P9/arpbase/conv)

The value of [Sphere of Red Dragon's Blood] seems to be off in the spreadsheet. No matter what hitrating I produce, it always shows as better than [Meteorite Whetstone], which has to be a mistake by my reasoning.

Tested this to a pretty reasonable extent and it does not seem to be an error. Neto was also testing it and arrived at the same [mistaken] conclusion you did because when he hacked the spreadsheet to make it think he had "infinite" hit rating, he didn't actually hack it in the correct way, resulting in the hacked hit not being accounted for. The best way to do so would be to insert, in any cell in the "Hit Rating" column in the "Gear" sheet, an arbitrarily large number like 10000.

Anyway, to summarize the facts behind this trinket's ranking:

- Prior to the poison hit cap, hit rating is decently worthwhile (for both builds) and as such the Sphere gets decent mileage out of that bonus.
- If the cooldown syncing model is enabled, the Sphere's haste-averaged AP effect (that is, the average benefit your white attacks get from it, which can be higher than your actual AP average over time since you might sync a haste effect with the AP effect to get more attacks during the AP bonus than at other times) is about 134.43. And of course, its normal averaged AP effect is about 111.67. AP is a very strong stat and crit and haste don't seem to be, so by itself this effect nearly rivals the full bonuses of the Meteorite Whetstone.
- Meteorite Whetstone is just not very good. A wide variety of trinkets seem to compare very strongly against it, including Incisor Fragment. Apparently 74 crit rating and roughly 90 average haste rating do not stack up very well against some of the available alternatives.

Do I have to change all the gear etc. again when I download the new version of the spreadsheet?

Also, for some reason (after having entered all details on the spreadsheet) it says my SnD uptime is 67% (while it actually is 100%, and when I change it I do not get a dps increase), and for some reason the spreadsheet still says I have around 2200 dps (no raidbuffs at all, my actual dps is around 1850, and I'm quite positive I use an optimal cycle). is there anything I could have missed?

thanks.
