Still can't repro, so something else must be going on. With the default beta 2 sheet:
Base DPS (both yes): 9539.1
No Potion DPS (Tricks yes, Potion no): 9501.6
No Tricks DPS (Tricks no, Potion yes): 9695.0
Neither DPS (both no): 9657.4
That is: Haste potion increases DPS whether or not tricks is on, and Tricks reduces DPS whether or not you use a haste potion. So there must be something else going on.
What's going on is my sheet somehow became corrupt and a number of cells stopped responding/made no change despite changing variables. I have re-downloaded a fresh set and input my gear and now it is working fine......though I am still surprised to see it telling me that Pyrite Infuser is superior to Mark of Supremacy with my build/gear (which isn't overloaded on +hit)!
Sorry if this has wasted time for you - thought i'd better mentioned the problem was at my end.
No no, it's not on and it only recommends the Eviscerate cycle when I gem and glyph for it. In light of the recent discussions on the subject though, I found it odd that Eviscerate would cross the threshold and start beating Rupture cycles even when I'm nowhere near hard or soft capped for ArP. Plausible, but odd. I uploaded the sheets in case it's diagnosed as a legitimate bug (if not, then fine).
I think what you're mistaking is that when you plug in the evis cycle spec and glyph, the sheet doesn't tell you that evis cycle is higher DPS than a rupture cycle.
Whats happening is the sheet is telling you that with those glyphs and talents you SHOULD be using using Evis, not that its better than rupture.
What you have to do is input your gear, spec and glyphs for rupture and mark your DPS. Do the same for evis and see which is higher for you.
Ald, for some reason the combat sheet is giving me 40 arpen over what I actually have. I checked all the values of arpen gear that i'm wearing and they're all correct. I checked my socketed gems and they're all correct.

Just got the 245 Bloodfang helm from Onyxia, but it appears only the 232 version is in the spreadsheet. Any tips on how to edit the stats to reflect the 245 helm? 245 Helm seems very good in comparison to everything else, but the 258 Tier piece.
You can either click on the gear tab on the bottom, find the appropriate item and edit the stats(Which would then reverse the problem, making only the 245 version appear, although for you personally, that would be irrelevant), or you can go to where the item is and add a new line, and enter everything from scratch (causing both items to appear on the list)

Not a bug Persay, more a suggestion, it would be nice to see Horde ToC items appear if you select a horde race (and vice versa). You obviously have a much better understanding of excel than I do, but it seems like it could easily be added by just duplicating the gear list(with names edited of course), and on the main page have the validation for the dropdown lists include an if statement to determine what faction, and which copy of the list to look at
In relation to BOTH posters, the Bloodfang Mask has an error on the stats, it's listed at 74 Agi and 108 Sta, should be 108 Agi and 74 stam, AP should be 167 instead of 159, 58 crit instead of 54, and 76 ArmPen instead of 72 (all stats according to Wowhead)
Making these changes boosted it 5 places on my sheet
Re: Bloodfang Helms. The stats entered are from a very early version of the helm posted on mmo-champion. They have sense been changed - in fact, it's been buffed significantly. Now that we know the official stats, I will be adding it in future releases.
Re: Alchemist. Fake it. Just give yourself a leatherworking bracer enchant, or two ring enchants, or two bright cardinal rubies in the JC socket, or anything else that gives you 80 AP. Given that it's easy enough to fake in this fashion, I haven't felt a need to add a separate option to specify it.
I fake my skinning bonus in a similar way. I usually create a fake gem for the +40 Crit, make it so that it's not recommended, and then place it in one of the blacksmithing bonus gem slots.

About the healm, how exactly do I change the stats I'm terrible with such things, I just picked up on of them from 25man ony and wan't to see the dps increase.
Open the sheet, find the option to unhide sheets (usually under "format" menu in excel but I can't speak for all versions). Unhide the gear sheet then go in the sheet and change the stats.
Another quick question regarding adding onyxia loot. Considering the Raging Deathbringer is 2.7 speed I guess it MIGHT end up being a decent bit of kit (along with the shadow damage proc - don't know the rate though). Anyone suggest how this might be added?
Edit: I'm reading the proc rate is around 1.5% which if so I guess kills this at least as far as being about ilvl232 worthy at best?
Ty kitteh after a few scans i finally figured it out. After doing so it seems like this healm is better than everything outside t9.258. It's on par with t9.258 and might even be better depending on gear.
Are certain weapon specs flat out better than others? I am curious because Hack and Slash seems to be outperforming CQC with (presumably) suboptimal weapons.
I was under the assumption that the 1.4s offhand should outperform the 1.5s one without question, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Even further, the dagger offhand has a gem, which I figured would push the relative EP of the item even higher over the sword, but it doesn't.
It's not a huge issue, I'm just attempting to figure out why this is. Would the higher topend on [The Lion's Maw] have anything to do with it?
Re: Deathbringer (and Vis'kag, and Gutgore): all of these procs will need to be individually modeled - they cannot easily be added on your own. However, as has been discussed in the past page or so, that can't really happen until we know the proc rates. So the best possible thing you can do to get an estimate of the quality of these new weapons would be to start collecting data on the proc rate - simply strip off your OH and any gear with haste procs on it, go attack the dummy for a couple hours, and then post the resulting combatlog for analysis.
Re: CQC vs HnS: as a general rule, given weapons of equal ilvl and overall quality, a sword/axe OH is generally comparable to a CQC OH that is .1 faster than it. This is good, because OH daggers tend to be .1 faster than available OH swords and axes. So yes, all other things being equal, a slower axe will compete with a faster dagger... but it needs to, given available itemization, so in reality the two specs are reasonably well balanced.
As I just did my new spreadsheet using the beta mut one. If murder is not being taken into account then per this spreadsheet my dps is 300 over what it was last patch, Im not sure if this makes sense however, I did not think the changes could provide that much DPS. Can anyone tell me how much dps increase they are seeing on the differences between there spreadsheets?
I only did a quick 19m 50s test on an level 80 dummy, and with the old 60 version of Gutgore (which very well may already have a documented proc rate), but it may be safe to assume for now that the proc rate of both are the same.
I noticed the discussion about the new Onyxia weapons needing some data, so I took a sample with Recount2 late last night after recently acquiring the i245 Raging Deathbringer.
While I didn't log that portion of data (DOH!), I did manage to get a smaller sample with my gear on running my standard rotation (with SnD and other possible haste effects) which makes me believe that there is no internal cooldown.

Can I get more info on this log. What's your second weapon? What were your stats at the time of the test, including your spell crit, haste, and hit?
Current observations: proc rate 3.82% (3.15%; 4.59% confidence interval). Melee hits, crits and glancing attacks can proc the shadow bolt. Partial resists are either 10% or 20% with 4.7% being mitigated on average.
Can anyone elaborate on how many seconds "n" and "m" represent in a more specific case? I understand the concept in the abstract, but I'm not really clear on the practical implementation.
So as a quick side note, if you include Raging Deathbringer in the spreadsheet, you will see that the proc needs to make something around 180dps to be on par with Serilas. Full raid-buffed and assuming the proc has 1.2ppm it does approximately 50-60 dps.
