In my tests Mastery, despite its comparatively low EP values, is showing to be more desirable a stat at BiS gear levels than agility. I'm just going to assume this has something to do with how DMC:H works vs. the calculation of EP values. Independent of this previous assumption, this seems to answer your question.

On a per-socket basis, yes, the general rule is to jam as much agility in as you can.. however you're neglecting the actual gear attached to those sockets. The calculations for BiS come as a whole package. There will be items that are a higher value with hit gemmed than a piece that gives you the hit and lets you gem for agi - likewise the value of a reforge is dependent on the remainder after reforging and the ability to reforge/gem elsewhere to accommodate that remainder.

In short, it's all about the big picture. This is a simulated max dps based on the best available gear - not a direct guideline - but an exercise in (maintaining the simulator and) learning how to simulate our dps through the many different variables.

The Chardev profile, along with the config file and dps reports have been accurate. All reforges and items have been accurate, but I managed to forget to switch to Glinting Demonseye over Rigid Ocean Sapphire in the OP with the half dozen 4.0.6 updates. It was an oversight, my mistake. The actual BiS profile is and has been accurate, the list in the OP was not, and those 40 hit gems did not belong.

It's never ideal to gem 40 hit, but nearly every blue socket in Cataclysm epic gear is worth matching with a Glinting Demonseye.

That said, 10, 20 and 30 agility sockets are always worth matching, 20 mastery or hit sockets are always worth matching, and 30 crit sockets are likely to be worth matching assuming you only have to use one non red gem to match them, unless you simply cannot find a way to use the hit rating without sub-optimal reforges.

Hi,

I noticed a little thing, in the BiS list you use Agile Shadowspirit Diamond as a meta, but in the actual EnhSim log you used Chaotic Shadowspirit Diamond. Was this a "missclick" error and the DPS could go even a little bit higher, or is this somehow intended?

The 3% crit multiplier is the same on both gems, and the passive stat increase is already incorporated in the other inputs, so as far as EnhSim is concerned, they are the same gem :-)

chardev 8 - Cataclysm Beta

Here's what I came up with for a Draenei BiS profile (seeing that I play one.) If nothing else, it can serve as a template for Draenei if it turns out there's something better.

I've recently started using Enh Sim and I haven't devouted much time to totally figuring it out. Although on my own time I added MW_3 LB above SW in my priority and it bumped my own personal characters dps up by about 200. I was curious if this was true for the BiS gear list setup as well or not. Maybe someone else can sim it since i'm new to all of this and still figuring out enhsim completely. If that's the case maybe it should be part of the rotation for simming BiS list on the front page.

For the matter putting MW_2 LB as last ability you should get even more than those 200 DPS (at least with my gear I get around 270). Adding MW_2 LB on OP EnhSim configuration DPS goes to 26037.

There is one reason I'm hesitant to add hard casted LBs to the OP.

I'm not sure if the Sim handles this in any way, but on occasion if you cast a MW3 or MW4 Lightning Bolt (or any other spell for that matter) you will gain Maelstrom stacks after you start casting. Those Maelstrom procs won't affect a spell already in progress, but they ARE consumed by it. I've seen it happen many times, but never had the presence of mind to actually look through my combat log to see how it happened. I imagine it has something to do with Windfury procs happening about the same time you start casting, but can't say for sure.

There is a delay between the melee attacks and the procs related to latency. Those procs are consumed then the cast completes meaning they are wasted stacks too. Don't think the sim models them but shouldn't matter much since the sim does model clipping your melee attacks when you are casting a spell.

It's a matter of reaction time vs latency. You could wait until 5 stacks instead, but in the time between the 5 stack going up, and you casting LB, you've also potentially lost those same procs that you lost when you started to hardcast, and when you got that new proc...if that makes sense.

This happens to me on occasion as well. I usually try to anticipate the 5th stack and begin casting anyway. As Cochice said, your missing potential proc's while you wait for your degradation to resolve itself.

And because you are clipping on both ends, I found it best to simply wait for a full 5 stack and popping off whatever ability needs to be casted as the situation warrants. I've found that more often than not, I get those stacks that would have been 'wasted' back very quickly due to how latency reacts with Maelstrom Weapon procs. But in the end its just a matter of personal preference.

Hi. I've been playing around maxdps rotation ingame for some personal purpose and made some note. If MW5 don't stacking very fast then we got FS_UE while FS DoT still ticking at target with 2-3 ticks left. By current BiS config we should use ES then, right? but by changing "cast_fs_only_if_dots_left" to 3 i got +40dps (even more with my current equip config and 2/2 reverb). So we should use FS_UE EVERY time.
/sorry for my eng ^_^
/from Russia with love

EDIT: i spent 2 points in reverberation.

You are absolutely correct, thanks for pointing that out - I thought I had made that change at some point but it either got reverted or I managed to forget. UEF_FS is not worth delaying if it has 3 ticks left... simply overwriting is a dps increase.
