Ive also found while using the Sim that using mass Adept Lava Corals over straight agi is providing more dps... In saying that it also says that the current BiS gear setup listed is 200 points over the expertise cap and also doesn't have trinkets working.

I have a question about the current priority - I have done a few searches and not found an answer yet.

World of Logs - Real Time Raid Analysis

That log is from one of the top ranked enhance ultraxion fights - my spell/damage spread is very similar to this I just thought showing someone with better gear may make it more relevant.

This shows Lava Lash clearly doing a lot more damage than stormstrike/SS offhand even with its higher cooldown - the stormstrike buff would surely always be up anyway if we prioritised SS behind LL.

I'm sure theres a simple answer to this one but I really cant see it

could someone answer why SS is above LL in the rotation?.

The reason that SS is prioritized higher than LL is because of its short cooldown and moderate damage output actually causes you to be able to squeeze more SS in the span of the encounter with a net result of increased DPS. Front-loading the debuffs Stormstrike and Stormfire (4 piece tier 12 set bonus) are an added benefit to placing SS at the top of your stack.

this dps log shows lava lash doing more total damage in the fight - im talking about a situation in which BOTH storm strike and lavalash are up, why would be prioritise storm strike?

Stormstrike has 8 sec CD.
Lava Lash has 10 sec CD.

If you use Lava Lash first, counting the 1.5 sec GCD, and SS after, you will have the EXACT same amount of SS and LL over one fight. (with a 0.5 sec downtime where you HAVE to wait and do nothing since SS will come off cd 0.5 before LL every time).
IF you use SS first, it will have a new and separate cooldown, that will only overlap every 3rd or 4th rotation (can't remember exactly). Hence allowing you to "press more buttons" in the end, roughly doing 20% more SS.

Hope that cleared up your doubts.

I was wondering if people would be able to help me with some napkin math (or real math).

I've just finished siming the current listed BiS setup and then sim'd the same setup but changed the belt to the cord of dragon sinew (valor point waist) and regem'd all delicate queens to adept lava corals and the adept lava corals to fractured lightstones. In doing so the sim's i did show'd about an 800dps difference.

That all said, the math I need helping with is trying to figure out the breakpoint where Mastery > agi (in the sense that the SP and Crit given from AGI will be less than the % increase that mastery gives to LL and LB etc). It seems that we aren't far off and also considering our current BiS weapons are effected by our mastery it should in theory lower that amount as well.

In these 2 sim's its just over a 1k dps difference. In saying that I could change over to use the t13 gloves as well for some more mastery.

It's also important to note that each SS has a chance to proc WF and FT (instead of just FT for LL) and that each hit gives you a chance at 2 MW procs instead of 1 from LL.

[Enhancement] 4.3 - At least your old Axe is good for transmog! you can just look it up from there. Just because Lava Lash happens to do more damage in a fight then SS doesn´t mean it should have a higher priority then SS. You have totally ignored that SS has 2 hits, meaning 2 chances of proccing Flurry, LS, WF(mainhand), LS and FT(offhand), whereas LL only has a chance of proccing Flurry and FT.
So overall, SS is more important to use then LL, hence the priority we have atm!

Instead of pasting in the result of the sim run, why don't you attach your enhsimgui_config.txt file that you were running against. That way myself and others can reproduce what you are using and we can see what it is you are actually simming.

After running the sim, if you look in your EnhSim folder you should see a file called enhsimgui_config.txt. That's the file we are looking for.

EDIT: I just went ahead and imported the 4.3 BIS setup and I'm not seeing the same thing. I went ahead and ran the setup through wowreforge to get to expertise and hit caps. I also switched the cloak enchant to Greater Critical Strike, since crit is now sim just high enough to make it an upgrade of the Major Agility enchant. With this setup, the EP for Agility is 2.56 versus 1.53 for Mastery, so I'm not sure why a split 25 agi/25 mastery gem would sim out higher than a straight 50 agi gem. It's possible something is different with your setup, but at least with this gear a straight 50 agi gem should be better.

you used MW5_LB_SW instead of MW4_LB_SW in your rotation, dont know if that was intencional.

Did you try MW4_LB_SW above ES? It was simming higher just a bit higher (about 50 dps) for me when I was doing some runs to evaluate new Tier/gear.

After I read this I did go run that setup with MW4_LB_SW and it did sime about 20 dps higher thank you for bringing this to light I'll update my post with the configs as soon as I can..

Good looking out.. Have any of the mods been able to take a look at this rotation to back it up and post it on the front page.

Hi,

while this might be a naive question:

How do you implement the BIS priorities in-game? I am just asking since ShockAndAwe won't allow for some of the given casts and I couldn't find another/better addon to manage this. Does everyone do this without any addon help?

As far as implementing these rotations goes.
I do not use shockandawe I simply know from gcd to gcd what spell or ability I should be using, it takes some time but becomes second nature after a while. However Shockandawe is a great way to learn and get used to your rotation.

Stormstrike
Lava Lash
Maelstrom Weapon x5 Lightning Bolt
Maelstrom Weapon x4 Lightning Bolt with Spirit Wolves
Flame Shock with Unleash Flame buff
Unleash Elements
Earth Shock
Feral Spirit*
keep your searing totem down for as close to 100% uptime as possible
*While Feral Spirit is up, every third cd tends to become a mw5_lb, to prioritize a mw4_lb_sw I use power auras to track when I get 4 stack of maelstrom weapon, when that lights up I know my next gcd will be a LB.

For AOE, black phase Yor'sahj most notably, I Use the following
1: Magma totem if more then 5 adds are present, if less keep searing totem up*
2: Flame shock on cd
3: Lava Lash on cd
4: Unleashed Elements
5: Fire Nova
6: Stormstrike
7: Maelstrom Weapon x5 Chain Lightning
*For 10 man Searing will still be your best option*
And that is as close as I can get to BIS rotation, it works for me but I'm only 95% of my simmed dps, so my execution is somewhat lacking.
If anyone gets the same dps numbers that the simulations give I would surely love to know.

Hey, I just wanted to ask a few things about DPS and openers because I was checking WoL for all bosses especially Ultraxion 25s and I see Enhancements that are basically in the same gear level as I am but pulling 42k - 45k while I'm at 37k.

1. Since we all know the priority rotation for DPS, how does everyone open during a boss encounter?
Do we start with totems down then SS > LvLash and so forth? Or UE > FS > Totems down > etc. ?

2. When about to open, is it better to pop DPS cd's + Spirit Wolves? Or wait till Wolves comes in for the priority order?

Finally got around to updating the OP, and there were a few minor changes to the listed priority. Will be more diligent in the future.

Bit delayed, but your priority shouldn't change regardless of cooldowns, procs, pots, etc*. Your opener should be Stormstrike if possible with ST placed beforehand, or ST->UE->FS->Feral Spirit if you're at range and it takes 3-4 GCDs to get in.

*There are two exceptions to this. Matrix Restabilizer causes Lava Lash to jump ahead of Stormstrike in the priority if you don't have Tier 13 2 set (I'm not sure about with Tier 13 2 set), but only while the proc is active. Also, If your target literally only has one GCD left in its lifespan, Lava Lash has higher priority than Stormstrike, but only if you cannot Stormstrike a new target with your next GCD and need to use something else.
