Several people have asked about BiS gear pre-raid. There is an excellent overview at Gearing For Raids - Enhancement at 85 - Forums - World of Warcraft which I have found invaluable in progressing through heroics towards raiding. Apologies if this has been posted before.

This thread hasn't been touched in a while, but with 4.1's removal of Improved Fire Nova, should the 'official' talent spec changed to 2/3 improved shields? That's really the only 2 talent points that provides a direct dps upgrade.

The only really viable options are: 2/3 Improved Shields, 2/2 Seasoned Winds, or 2/2 Totemic Reach

Gems/reforges etc. should bring you to 542 expertise rating, and 1727 hit rating (1747 with Elemental Precision), assuming I copied correctly...

I believe The Hungerer's equip effect was updated to simply be a typical chance on hit rather than when your energy/focus gets low or Shamanistic Rage is used. If someone can confirm, send me a PM.
Also, if anyone can confirm whether or not any of the items do not actually have a heroic version, send me a PM. (similar to Maimgor's Bite and the Agony and Torment set in tier 11)

This was all done manually so there might be a better reforging strategy, but it's something to start with at least.

This is assuming a spell power weapon isn't better, which is entirely possible with Lava Burst being included on our 4-piece set bonus. Ko'gun, Hammer of the Firelord or Eye of Purification very well may end up being our BiS main hand.

Not going to update the OP until 4.2 is live.

What about Viridian Signet of the Avengers ?
I see it being better than heroic Widow's Kiss (+30 agility with the gem).

First of all, The Hungerer was changed to a haste proc on the June 4th PTR update. The proc is Devour. From initial testing, it appears to have a 60 second cooldown.

As for items without heroic versions, the Rep rewards from The Avengers of Hyjal do not. Nor does the bracers, neck, or ring valor items have heroic versions. That is about it though. Everything else, including the trash drops have heroic version through the Crystallized Firestone vender, an item that drops from heroic bosses.

Actually, the tier chest is a robe, so pants aren't seen. Which is kind of too bad, I thought the Shaman chest/shoulders/helm/gloves but with pants instead of a skirt looked really good for once.

If this is incorrect, it wouldn't be the first time a GM gave misleading information, so I won't be changing the BiS links until I see the armory of a player (or proof otherwise) using an upgraded Valor Points or Avengers of Hyjal reputation item. If anyone can confirm (either has an armory link or has acquired a stone and attempted to use it on a VP/Rep item) then PM me.

EDIT - based on several PMs I've received, it is currently not possible to upgrade anything by "using" a Firestone on it. The only ones available are on the vendor. That is subject to change, of course.

I received a firestone last night and the item had no "use" effect on it. I also tried right clicking it anyway and then clicking on a rep item and it did nothing. So if it is in fact intended for them to be usable on rep/vp items, it's not presently functioning.

There is a vendor outside and inside of Firelands where you redeem these, they are in fact not "usable".

I was able to trade to the vendor to upgrade the boe bracers, but reports from various GM discussions were that all trash/rep items (which are not on said vendor) would still be upgradeable by "using" the firestone on the item. I was just confirming that is not the case for either the rep cloak or belt.

Since there doesn't seem to be many posts about EoP with sim's showing the dps gains or lose's for that matter I decided to post my results. I recently got an Eye of Purification and here are my sim results. The first sim is of a setup using Gatecrasher and Crul'korak, the Lightning's Arc. The second sim includes Eye of Purification with Gatecrasher. Since the weapons change my hit/expertise I reforged accordingly to min/max for each setup.

Unfortunately, I haven't had a chance to really test this in a raid setting since I got EoP. Although a test dummy is pretty unrealiable due to human error, I've also noticed higher dps on a 5 min test with no Lust or Wolves.

Can you confirm if you got the 391 version or the 378 version (you linked the 391 version)? Otherwise you're comparing a 391 weapon to a 372 weapon, even if one of them is SP.

It is the 391 version. The testing may not be ideal in terms of comparison's between the weapons but the point is to show that it is in fact a dps upgrade, I'm sure the regular version of EoP would be an upgrade as well.
