I don't think there is a cooldown on the Eye proc. I've definitely had it proc more than once every 45 seconds.
correct the last testing I saw was still showing 0 cooldown and it procs per heal landed not cast. If there is a now a cooldown is a relatively new thing (seems unlikely).
I'm sure it will get nerfed, but atm the Shifting Naaru Sliver is still 320 spell power on PTR. Making it's on use something like 700 healing. More than double the on use of the Essence or Tome.
I'm thinking of trying to get the elemental belt and boots and use them with a four piece resto bonus once the patch hits. The elemental helm and shoulders also look like more crit/haste for a loss of some mp5. The elemental legs also look better than the resto legs (unless you have the Sunwell legs), despite the spell hit on the elemental legs. However, the chest and gloves do not look superior to the resto items.
What are others planning to wear after the next patch?
Well, we still don't have an optimal set of crit values known. I'm not sure the 2-4 week period of level 70 with new talents will really matter all that much in the min-maxing scene. The content won't change, but our effectiveness will skyrocket regardless of our gear. It may simply not matter what gear you wear for the interim before the xpac.
With the forthcoming patch & hence WotLK, crit/haste of course will come more into play but has anyone thought about gemming for more int?
The new spells/talents have gone mainly for % of base mana, therefore wouldn't gemming for more int (+11 heal & 5 int gem, I was thinking about primarily) be a viable option?

I ran my own numbers through it, and for me the optimal options was belt/boots and t6 shoulders(No acces to ele head and legs so working with what I have.
Red slots: 12spellpower
Yellow slots: +5spellpower/+5haste
For the shoulders its +12 +12 in the Shoulderspads and +6Spellpower/2Mp5 + 10haste in the skyshatter pnes.
For some reason something doesnt seem to add up.

Reason: Cant get the Table to work.
I was playing around on the PTR today, anybody else noticed that the threat generated by earthshield procs is redirected towards yourself instead of the shielded target?
Yes, but only if the target performs NO threat action. I cast ES on a player, they go autoattack a monster and then stop attacking immediately. After 2 ES procs or so, I will get aggro.
I really don't think threat will be too bad in general for healing, however.
And lets hope this change to Earth Shield means that all our talents will now work on Eath Shield (purification, anyone ?). Its a really weak 41 talent point ability already, that it didnt even got the +10% healing effect was (and is if it aint fixed) just ridiculous.
Some good and bad with the ES change. Since you can't control when it procs it has the opportunity to go off at a very bad time; phase change, add spawn, agro dump, ect and you get rocked seems like a major flaw.
Not that this can't be compensated for most of the time, however losing the ability to be in control of ones threat output (aside from taking ES off the tank) in critical moments makes this seem like a net loss to me.

Ohh great i have 8 Main tanks signed up again and 4 healers.

Oh it was fantastic on the PTR. With 3/3 Improved Shields and 2/2 Imp. Earth Shield, it was proccing for 1400, whereas on live it was for just under 1000 (under 900 when not on a tank). Also, you can see the heal "go off" in scrolling combat text just like any other heal you perform, unlike before.
In essence yes. I think blizzard got a lot of complaints about how healing meters could not track player's earth shields, prayer of mending, etc. So it should give credit to the healer now in updated healing meters
I believe Recount works in Beta at the moment. Now we can finally tell those paladins how much we REALLY healed the tank!
-In regards to the 2/8 piece elemental. With my current gear I am struggling to decide if it is even viable for me. I have Sunwell Legs, Leather-working Pattern Chest, and trash dropped gloves as well as 3 pieces of tier 6 from sunwell (belt, bracers, and boots) The only option for me would be Elemental Helm + Elemental Shoulders. However I would then lose the 4 piece Restoration bonus, which isn't even remotely a good idea.
Any thoughts? Re-equip the T6 Chest? Maybe? Or would someone of my gear just scrap the idea and keep all my sunwell pieces.
-Side note- I also do not gem for maximum haste, I personally love my balance of +healing, +haste, and mana/5.
Hasn't failed me yet

Recount has counted earthshield for me for quite a while now....on live. I believe it was fixed with the 2.4 combat log changes.

Recount properly counts all reactive heals, but WWS reports still can't handle Prayer of Mending, which would be the only real change one would notice on any meter.

I doubt that's really the reason though.
I mean would you (as a dev) change who gets the threat from a heal just so an internet based parsing tool can correctly parse the heals? You'd more be: "So what, suck it up, use an ingame tool". Or not?
I mean ofc it's handy for WWS parses, but it seems backwards they'd screw the ingame mechanics just for WWS. Probably done for some other reason.
SQUEAK.

I recall a blue post somewhere touching on the proc-based healing threat:
Prayer of Mending changes and threat issues
We've really buffed threat generation for tanks. Even when broken classes were doing 4500 dps in raids, they weren't pulling off the tanks. We're trying to back off threat management as a major component of grouping (though we're not removing it). Raid fights should be more about keeping people alive, knowing the fight, and coordinating with your group. As part of this philosophy, we are trying to make more consistent spells with odd threat rules, and PoM fell into that category.
When threat numbers are very low, then things like PoM going off or even a Renew tick can cause threat problems. We think this is a little sucky and are trying to come up with elegant ways to fix it. While the start of a fight can present this problem, I actually think it's worse once a fight is well undeway and there are adds and spawns of some kind that go right to the healer.
Another reason we changed the way spells like PoM healed was so the healing credit would actually go to the Priest in mods that track such things Source
Essentially, they're dismissing the possibility of a healing proc pulling aggro as "unlikely because all tanks have great (AoE) threat generation now". This rationale seems a bit flawed to me. An ability a la Fade seems like a quick fix to this, albeit messy.
I have been reading these fouroms for quite some time now in regards to healing shamans. I have taken many of the ideas and suggestions here and implemented them into my everyday game play. To those who have spent many hours theorycraftign and crunching numbers, Thank You.
Now to my question. I have been using the down ranked Chain Heal (rank 2) for most of all my heals in the past month or so. More like spamming it. I have found myself in a situation where I am no longer in the top 2-3 consistanly anymore but I always have 3-5k mana to spare at the end of a battle. Currently in T5 and starting T6. Mana values stated prevous are after boss fights not trash. Should I be concerned with this? Is anyone else finding themselves in this same position?
Also I have read/heard in WoTLK they are going to be focusing alot more on haste, than continuing to up the raw dps/healing a person can put out. Is this viable forus to start doing now dropping some Bonus Healing and stacking some Haste? Would it make a subsequent differance for us resto shamans.
Last thing that has come to my mind. I have been doing alot of armory searches for resto shaman on my server (Misha) which is severly under populated. I have been looking at the spell crit chance, for the most aprt we are all hovering around 9.6ish. Should resto shamans have a higher spell crit chance sot hat our heals crit more often?
If any of this info was listed in the main thread I appologize i musthave missed it, but if not and anyone has any insight on my post please share what you think, and thanks.

Get Totem of Living Water and spam CH rank3 if the boss fight requires too much mana from you.
Don't worry about any of your gear, if you are just starting BlackTemple, Mount Hyjal, keep using your gearing strategy of +healing, +mp5 and so forth. When you level from 70 to 80, if you've not been farming sunwell plateau, you will replace almost all of your gear with quest rewards.
If you plan on doing 5man or some 10man raiding in the expansion, then some crit might be desirable and some of those crit based talents will be useful. If you plan on doing 25man raiding in Lich King, don't worry about crit.
I am not sure if this has already been mentioned (I've poked around this thread a bit witht he search. 63 pages is awful long to go through one by one) so I'll give it a shot here.
At one point, I re-specced from enhancement to restoration while dual wielding and noticed I still had my weapon equipped in my off hand. This led me to this though.. If I were to use some sort of green one hand "of the Elder" weapon in my offhand with 81 healing and the brilliant mana oil applied to it and re-specced to restoration, would the stats granted by the weapon + enchantment + oil be counted towards my toon, or would they be inactive?

I am going to be going with the T6 ele boots for sure and also the T6 belt. I feel that the huge loss in mp5 of the bracers is too big and that the spell hit from some of the BT gear will be a detriment to overall stats.
I really don't think all the +intellect gems are necessary. Fights are so short now that even with one potion only, as long as I have the replenishment buff I have little to no mana issues. Gemming int would only lower my heal output for no real gain. I however changed out some of my haste gems for spellpower/mp5 ones but kept all the ones that were in yellow slots.
I picked up the belt and boots of elemental tonight so I have now switched those into my main set (check my armory should it update, let me know what you think) and decided I had to drop my twins shoulders and bring back in the old restoration T6. I havn't done the math to see if using the 2pieces of elemental gear beats using the twins shoulders, M'uru chest and Kil'Jaeden helm, but I reckon it would be pretty close.
On that note I would say at this point I have best in slot for everything except the M'uru haste trinket, and KJ weapon. Would like other opinions on what would now be considered the optimal setup for the current patch.
