Well, my turn to ask for help. I've been coming in lower than I'd like on our Ulduar raids but I got myself into a Naxx PUG so I could get a "baseline" on Patchwerk.

Things I already know:

- On this run, no flask or potion.
- I'm short 8 +hit - that's because I have to pick up the appropriate gem for a gear swap, not a permanent state.

I figure my ideal rotation at this time is essentially 4 LB plus either 1 CL or 1 FS between Lava Bursts. My non-crit LvB may be due to another ele shaman in this PUG, and NeedToKnow addon does not distinguish between my FS and someone else's - I may have looked away and missed it expiring.

Anything I'm obviously missing or falling down on? I think I should be able in my gear to eke out at least another 750 dps on Patchwerk... would like to tighten this up before I start getting crazy with Ulduar dps.

Nobody was putting a +13% damage debuff on the boss and I can't see the +3% either - so that is about 670 DPS for you. Add another 200 for food and you are breaking 5k which is fine in a 4 min fight.

By "the +3%" I'm guessing you meant +hit, and that's covered by Misery, which was on the boss. The 13% damage debuff was covered by Ebon Plague, but only for 50% of the fight.

No - sorry, I meant the +3% damage from Sanctified retribution or Ferocious Inspiration (which he appears to have benefitted from for 11% of the fight). Not sure how I missed Ebon as I definately looked for it, so apologies for that. Nonetheless, missing 13% damage for 50% of the fight and 3% for 89% is a lot of lost potential and with them and a flask, his DPS wuld have been around 4800 which is still not grossly bad for a 4 min fight.

Just spending some time today going over and over Loot tables for Ulduar bosses to try to find a solid "BiS Set", that is to say, the set with which we can maximise DPS stats while maintaining hit cap. A few problems arise when making this list as there are no Ele boots in Ulduar, yet, so we must use Cloth boots (who needs Spirit anyways). However not all loot is discovered, yet. Let's hope for some comparable Mail boots. to go along with our Cloth boots, we have an excellent pair of legs available... only they're also cloth (at least they don't have Spirit). So I'm wondering what your thoughts are on this, though really this is going to be mostly for my own future reference.

Here's my initial list. This list subject to revision upon more informed insight.

Helm: [Conqueror's Worldbreaker Helm] Chaotic, 16 hit
Neck: [Pendant of Fiery Havoc] 19 SP
Shoulders: [Conqueror's Worldbreaker Shoulderpads]19 SP
Cloak: [Pennant Cloak] 32 SP (Prismatic)
Chest: [Conqueror's Worldbreaker Hauberk] 19SP, 19 SP
Bracers: [Bindings of Winter Gale] 32 SP (Prismatic)
Gloves: [Conqueror's Worldbreaker Gloves] 19 SP, gives 4 hit socket bonus
Belt: [Belt of the Fallen Wyrm] Buckle, 19 SP
Legs: [Leggings of the Enslaved Idol] 19 SP, 9 SP/8Hit, 32 SP (Prismatic)
Boots: [Boots of Fiery Resolution] 19 SP, 19 SP Tuskarr's Vitality on Boots. Alot of Ulduar fights require mobility. Travel time is lost DPS.
Ring 1: [Signet of Manifested Pain]
Ring 2: [Pyrelight Circle]
Trinkets: [Illustration of the Dragon Soul] or [Eye of the Broodmother] or [Scale of Fates]

Unless I missed something this puts you at 264 hit rating. As a Draenei this is 1 rating over hit cap.
For Horde you're going to have to switch a few gems around to get your 24 extra Hit rating.

Trinkets are based mostly upon the fight. For fights where moving around quite a bit or changing targets becomes an issue the burst on demand of the Scale and the passive crit on the Eye is nice. For more stationary fights where you only have one target to cast on the entire fight Illustration and Eye would be my choices.

[Pattern: Sash of Ancient Power] is another belt we can also look at; it's a crafted cloth item. Only downfall is there is no crit, but we get more than enough of that through other items. It would give us 135sp over 118 from the [Belt of the Fallen Wyrm], and there is also +hit to play around with on there.

i don't have any wws report whit this character by now, but my best dps on patchwerk 25 man was a ~2900 ( a lot low) so ... i would ask you what i have to change boost a little my dps for going to ulduar whit my guild

my rotation is a priority one (fs->LvB->CL->LB->refresh FS->LvB ecc.)

i beg your pardon for my bad english ^^

Your talents are fine, not much else is.

Get Glyph of Flame shock. Get a helm with a meta socket, and a CSD meta. Get your gear enchanted. Get hitcapped. Your gear quality may not directly be under your control, but it will need an awful lot of work to do competitive DPS. I would read this thread a lot more, as right now you are making pretty much every basic mistake, sorry.

BiS so far for boots with be Treads of the False Oracle. Gem bonus does not show up on the Armory, but MMO-Champion shows it as 7 spellpower.

Is that a correct statement?

I believe that was written pre-3.08 when CL was relatively a much stronger source of DPS. As such there was at the time a lot more TC about cramming in as many CLs as possible,

However, until Ulduar arrived CL was still better DPS - albeit marginally - than LB. When you pick up the additional haste from Ulduar gear, and 4-pc T8 bonus, that may change. However, for the average shaman right now that advice is just about still technically correct. Given the small DPS gain of using CL, most do now only use it as a filler though.

So is itsaying that rotation ishould be CL filler between FS / Lvb /Lvb ? And in the Haste section LB is used to show DPS. So I'm just wondering if there is something Im missing.

I've recently switched from mainly raiding as resto to now being elemental, and I have a lot of the gear to support it, except any true DPS trinkets. I finally got enough hit to where I don't necessarily need a hit trinket and am looking into what to use until I get some true caster trinket drops. My choices are a combination of [Forethought Talisman] [Je'Tze's Bell] and I could buy a [Sundial of the Exiled] with badgesif it is really better. I could also use [Elemental Focus Stone] for hit and dump my ring with hit to get the crafted ring made if that seems better.

I know we scale really well with spellpower and that crit is a poor stat, but I wasn't sure how much the healing and Mp% procs make my current trinkets a poor choice in the interim.

I have one fast question out of curiousity. I'm still hammering out some math, but as an engineer, I just got a hold of the parachute enchant (18SP to cloak). Would it be more optimal to pick that over our traditional 23 haste? I know engineering is very gimmicky, but given we want SP a great deal, what do ya'll think?
