Last night, myself and another enhance played around with them and even just using it as an OH we often found ourselves in a position were we dangerously close to the tank in threat going all out, to the point that we did less DPS on Patchwerk than we do with our normal weapons because we kept having to run out to keep from getting clobbered. They are really fun to play with, but in all likelihood they will be fixed/changed soon enough to not work the way they do now. Either because of threat or mechanic change, they aren't really a serious long-term viable OH.

According to wowhead, blizz hot-fixed this bug this morning. Can anyone confirm? I was looking forward to having some fun with it...

Hitting the dummy just now it doesn't appear to be double-proccing imbues.

The EnhSim simulations I've done (using chardev.org - a World of Warcraft Character Planner - x as a sandbox for figuring out BiS gear) have shown that WD/WD with FT/FT comes out as higher DPS (by I believe 87) than CG/WD with WF/FT. However, the sim has not been updated to for the new version of the Windfury Glyph, so it's possible that CG/WD will come out ahead. I'm not very good with napkin math, only simming, so I can't provide any sort of math along those lines, but perhaps more testing with WD/WD vs. CG/WD would be worthwhile.

Additionally, if we had some sort of realistic way to "optimize" our gear a la Rawr this would be more worthwhile. For example, haste shines with WD/WD. But would stacking, say, AP and Crit with CG/WD or even CG/AD be better than stacking haste with WD/WD? What can we do short of testing everything manually (which I do plan to do.. chardev.org makes it a bit easier, but it's still a nuisance)?

As a last thought, I wonder if a WD/WD with FT/FT setup would necessitate maxed expertise. Time to test!

A note about chardev.org: if you're a draenei, it adds the 1% hit from your racial bonus and the 6% hit from your talents to the character sheet.

Rewrite 1.1 (Added Searing Totem):

Based on the gear below, I've compiled the following simmed DPS. For the purpose of this thread, I'm ignoring racials and professions. I'll have a personal build slightly different as my character is a Draenai. I don't normally have any issues with mana, so I disabled that level of the sim. I did not factor any lag in as well either, as it will scale evenly regardless.

CG/AD: 5271.68 DPS (Minor EP affinity for haste)
CG/SR: 5291.00 DPS (AP edges out on the EP scale)
CG/WD: 5308.10 DPS (Major EP for Haste: over 2.5, crit also slightly outpaces AP, spellpower also higher than AP)

Adding Searing Totem
CG/AD: 5600.22 DPS (AP top barely)
CG/SR: 5619.61 DPS (AP on top)
CG/WD: 5638.71 DPS (Haste still out front)

The main issue brought about by this is the heavy bonus for adding haste to the Webbed Death, which may lead to some interesting gear decisions. My numbers seem a little low, so if you come across something I'm missing or an error in the config, please let me know so I can adjust things.

Edit: Part of the odd gearing issues with CG/WD include the Meteorite Whetstone simming higher than Darkmoon Crusade card, slightly, but still higher. The Whetstone simmed over 20 DPS higher when replacing the Mirror of Truth.

Could you provide which gearset that is? I've been going through using chardev trying to find the best one, and yours easily comes out 200-250 DPS ahead of my supposed BiS set.

Edit: hrm, nevermind, I bet it's cause I'm using a base 150-150 ms lag range.

Edit the second: nope, even that doesn't account for all of it. I'm really curious to see the setup you're using.

Hey all. So lemme just throw something out there...

In the PTR patch notes: "Lava Lash - Fixed a bug which allowed you to use the ability even if you had a shield in offhand. Now requires a 1hand axe, fist or dagger to be able to be used."

So yeah... I am assuming that they just forgot Maces... Otherwise those of us with AD are kinda outta luck. ;_;

^.^ any thoughts?

Testing on PTR shows that maces can still be used with LL, so likely a typo in the patch notes.

Since you'd really just be increasing your AP in all likelihood from those professions I don't think it matters much, as Attack Power and Spell Power aren't really going to have an effect on any of the various feedback cycles like weapon speed, haste and crit do. It would increase the DPS in sims, but its not going to change the dynamic of the stat interaction as long as all you care about is the relative results.

Malan, my only purpose in asking is things like the +27 hit and +27 expertise JC gems. Arguably they allow JC'ers to pick up different "best in slot" pieces because they can get their hit/expertise in different places. If we're looking for a true "best in slot" set, well .. perhaps that's meant for a different thread, though.

Searing totem is left out of the rotation and under buffs, attack power multiplier should be left unchecked if specced for unleashed rage
I got the highest dps from using the following rotation priority MW5_LB > ES > SS > ST > LS > LL

also I got higher dps by switching the totem of dueling to the totem of hex with the final result being 5648.72

That's a glaring omission on my part. I'm trained to drop Flametounge as we have no Elemental. I'll re-run with that addition. Totem of Hex was a surprise to me though.

Has anyone ever tryed [Haunting Call] and [Webbed Death] with FT/FT

Since WD+WD was a thing to talk about, I figure 1.80 Delay BUT 461 Spellpower and 1,7% Hit might also do it.
It would be great if someone with more experience could put this throu a Sim.

[Torch of Holy Fire] might also be anoption if this way proves.
