i use to unzip the newer versions into a new folder and then keep the older version as a backup incase there are any bugs, such as the "can't import characters from european servers" one.
if i put it in a new folder it should be using the cache of the new version rigth? please correct me if i'm wrong.
Yes that is the best way to do it remembering that if you are running vista you will get problems if you install to "program files" directory. This is because vista won't let you update files in program files and so things like updating item cache goes a bit screwey. Solution is to install in a different directory.

I shall be off on holiday for 3 weeks to Canada & the USA, from the 26th. I shall not be doing any work on Rawr, or ShockAndAwe or EnhSim or jEnhSim until my return on the 13th September at the earliest. However having said that as of this evening the guild I was an officer in formally disbanded. Therefore it is entirely possible I shall not resume playing and therefore not take an interest in WoW or any of the projects I've been working on even when I return from holiday.
I shall see how I feel about the game on my return. I very much appreciate all the support and effort of the community here and am pleased that many of you have contacted me to say how much they value my contributions to the Enhancement Shaman community.
Please do not use this thread to comment on this message, as that would break the rules here on this forum. Hopefully this message itself isn't seen as breaking the rules.

can anybody tell me why the darkmoon card with agi is calculated that bad by rawr for enhancement shamans, but with strength for warriors its not a bad idea???
i do understand all the stats rawr is focussed on and know how to play and use/optimise my gear, but i realyy can't figure out why the card is that bad!

Unless you provide information on what your item cache is storing for that trinket we really cannot advise. There were a lot of problems modelling the darkmoon cards when they were added to the system and on several occasions the item stats got messed up. Thus you need to check YOUR item stats and see that it is actually loading the correct stats for the item. Often the special effect is missing, and so its only counting the 90 agi. This can happen if you haven't updated your item cache lately, or it got corrupted.

I've recently become interested in optimizing my shaman, and I'm starting to use these wonderful tools built that make the job truly much less guesswork than it could be. So I start with a note of thanks.
My question is in regards to using 2x Tear (Nightmare + Enchanted) in blue slots to activate a CSD, rather than RED. I have read elsewhere that this may produce better results, so I began (just now) adding gemming templates which include tear + CSD. My Issue is that there seems so many gemmings already which rawr must crunch through, and I'm exacerbating that. My hardware is but a lowly 32-bit single processor, and optimize is already quite lengthy...can anyone suggest an abbreviated list of gemmings to use?

Warriors get 2ap/str we get 1ap/agi and the melee crit from agi isn't significant enough to make out for getting only half amount of ap.
k, i got that point. but i don't really get higher dmg with other trinkets like fury of the five flights or mirror of truth!
so i stay with the card until i get the yogg saron trinket or pyrit infusion from levi.
one last question: is it right that rawr is calculating hit till 446 as THE stat number one? cause i'm yellow capped and it suggests still to use hit gems.

Spells depend on hit for much longer than yellow attacks. You might want to double check your buffs/debuffs, 446 seems high unless you're missing something.

When your choosing your buffs, and be sure to choose ONLY the ones that apply, do you have a spell hit debuff on the boss, Improved Faerie Fire (Balance Druids) or Misery (Shadow Priests)? If those are not on the boss you have to attain a much higher amount of hit rating as you are missing the 3% chance to hit versus bosses.
Special Melee Hit Cap: 9%
Soft Spell Hit Cap: 14%
Hard Spell Hit Cap: 17%
With soft spell hit cap you should have around 11% melee hit on your paper doll (this does NOT inlcude your Dual Wield Specialization talent (3/3). Also this talent does not apply to your spell hit chance either, Misery, Faerie Fire, and Hit Rating on your gear are the only way to get spell hit.
Given the new PTR build changes to Totem of the Quaking Earth (MMO Champion Link), I went into Rawr and edited this item to 400AP (from 200), and added a 9s cooldown. I was then very confused to find Totem of the Electrifying Wind still regarded as almost twice as good.
I'm posting this here because there's a very simple reason why this happened, and it may save other people the trouble - depending on fight time, ToEW can be absurdly overvalued by the Rawr models (because you could squeeze another lightning bolt in or somesuch reasoning). To the point that a fight time of 10.1 mins gives ToEW = 481.83 and ToQE = 245.88, whereas a fight time of 10.0 mins gives ToEW = 206.87 and ToQE = 260.53.
tl;dr - Wait until EnhSim's model is updated and sim out the options there. ToQE (as derived by other people in other threads) should easily beat the elemental totem.
Rawr 2.2.14 export to EnhSim config file will not export either of the T9 set bonuses. I've examined the clipboard contents to double-check that its not an EnhSim import clipboard problem and indeed the set bonus lines are empty when they should be populated.
Before I post this as a bug to the Rawr codeplex site, has anyone else run across this and resolved it by some other means? Perhaps item cache? (Though I've tried that myself to no avail.) I've also tried deleting the items and reimporting them from armory.
I'm running a freshly unpacked copy of Rawr, created after all other copies of Rawr were confirmed deleted.
My current workaround is to paste the T9 bonus into EnhSimGui after every import.
I noticed that the EnhSim tab under Options in Rawr still refers to the EnhSim website as EnhSim: News. Obviously, this is minor, but if it can be changed it might be better for those who are new to the programs.

I have had the same problem for the last couple weeks (using the last few versions of Rawr). I haven't bothered to post anything since I know Levva is on vacation and is unavailable to work on the Enhancement module but posting a ticket probably is a good idea.
I have a question about using the optimizer-function in Rawr. I don't have "Enforce Gem Requirements" ticked and "Override Regem/Reenchant" in the optimizer options and Rawr is suggesting I'm putting in a Chaotic Skyflare Diamond (21 crit raing, 3% critdmg, requires 2 blue gems) but only 1 blue gem (a Nightmare Tear). I've used the "avalible for optimize" (the green diamon) on the blue gems I find helpful but Rawr seems to ignore that anyway.
Perhaps you just made a typo, but you ought to have "Enforce Gem Requirements" set to ON, not off. Without this, then the optimizer is free to ignore the meta gem requirements, so this could explain your problem.
Nah it wasn't a typo, it was me being what they call "a noob". I thought it forced to socket blue gems in all the blue sockets, yellow gems in all the yellow sockets and red gems in all the red sockets. It's ticked in now and working as a charm, thanks alot!
Just wondering if anyone else are encountering a "problem" with the newest version of Rawr (version 2.2.17)? It suggest that I'm gemming way over the hitcap (18.40% spellhit, 14.73% meleehit) even tho I have Misery / Imp. Faeri Fire ticked in the "Buff"-tab (and I have all helpful buffs ticked). Everything were fine in 2.2.13, 2.2.15 and I've imported the profile I used with these two versions to 2.2.17 and didn't change any options. I tried optimizing the gear both with "override regem" ticked and unticked just to see if something changes, did the same with Misery / Imp. Faerie Fire but the gemming isn't changing and I'm still over the hitcap by 3.80%.
Is this normal due to us dualwielding and hit still has a high EP-value after reaching the Spellhit cap or is this a bug and how do I work around it (if it is a bug)?

It is normal, and indeed the value of hit increases as you gear closer and closer towards T9 BiS. Hit will start to be equal in value to crit if you continue to gem for AP/Crit. This is due to increased Haste/ArP rates on T9 gear.

Great to know that it's nothing to scratch my head over then. Still feels kinda wierd with so much hit tho but it's something I have to live with I guess.
