Has anyone else noticed how weak Water Shield has become? It does not seem to be triggered by any AoE anymore. Most of the fights in Ulduar involve massive raid wide AoE damage, but I'm not seeing any charges being consumed. Looking at mana regen sources in Recount, WS is waaay down on the list compared to other sources (Thunderstorm is regenning 3 times as much).
Maybe my memory is false, but I do recall WS being an excellent regen source, in for instance Black Temple, fights such as Teron. Anyone else notice this? And when did this change happen?

Which fights are you referring to? I have been very happy with Water Shield mana regen on fights with raid-wide aoe damage. For those fights I sometimes have to remember to watch my party members' mana to drop Mana Tide. Bear in mind that environmental damage (think swimming through lava to reach the Blackrock Mountain instances) does not trigger the shield.
Also remember that until they hotfixed us we were receiving both Mana Spring and Blessing of Wisdom, gaining 91 or more mp5 that we weren't supposed to have. In 3.0 Blizzard noticed healers had too much mana, trivializing some healing decisions, and deliberately nerfed us. This is something they intend for us to adapt to, whether by gearing differently, or healing differently. Mana was never an issue for me in tier 7, except after ankh or receiving a druid rez. Now sometimes it is an issue. It's a new game.
As to your Thunderstorm comment, I have never played Elemental so I don't know about that, but it's always seemed like a nice benefit, especially glyphed.

Well, specifically, I had Kologarn's Shockwave in mind, which I noticed wasn't causing any orbs to consume. Edit: Another one, that I just recalled is Mimiron's phase 2, when he randomly shoots at people, that doesn't cause orbs to consume either.

Heroism and Potion of Speed . . .
As an enhancement shaman - do you try to stack these together for a much stronger DPS punch or do you stack them out to "extend" heroism? I know there can be some variation from fight to fight, but I am just curious as to the general consensus.

Question for Enhancement PvP
Last night a [Kinetic Ripper] dropped from Flame Leviathan, nobody else needed it and I took it, thinking of using it for PvP, since I have only 1 Angry Dread as off-hand which is enchanted with Berserking, which IMO is not the best enchant for PvP.
I am planning to enchant the KR with Mongoose, but still I am unsure if it would be a better weapon for PvP vs. a slow off-hand like [Pride].
Also, should I imbue the KR with Flametongue or Frostbrand?

I hope you are an Enchanter since the only good use for that Kinetic Ripper for Enhancement is as a Shard.

The haste effects from Potion of speed and Heroism are independent and they multiply. Thus, you will gain more DPS by stacking them.

You have to sim it to know what is right for you.
Also, and this should be obvious, don't use level 70 gems. [Bright Scarlet Ruby] and [Quick Autumn's Glow] are what you want to look at.

Enhancement
I have seen this on many shaman post 3.1 but I dont understand why and I cant seem to find it anywhere although I may have missed it.
Why are people taking 2/2 Imp Stormstrike over putting more points into Ancestral Knowledge. I was under the impression that mana wasnt an issue with SR. What am I missing?

Your link didn't seem to work. Personally, I find 1/2 Improved Stormstrike necessary to maintain a mana cycle, even with full raid buffs. Otherwise I'm OOM for about 15 seconds from one SR to the next on long fights with my max DPS rotation, which is a greater DPS loss than the gain from an extra point in a straight DPS talent.
In addition, if you trade points out of Imp SS, Ancestral Knowledge is about the worst place to put them, in terms of DPS gain. Call of Flame, Reverberation and Improved Shields will all yield more DPS per point, probably in about that order. You can use EnhSim to determine the best talent spec for your current gear.

[Resto -PVE]
I'm trying to help a guildie who plays a resto shammy. My main is a priest and I find the WotLK Healing Compendium v3.1 in EJ's priest section invaluable. I haven't found a similar thread here for Resto that summarizes current thinking. Can someone point me to the appropriate thread (or just say it doesn't exist)?
If it doesn't exist, a quick pointer to where to get started would be appreciated. Looks like there is a mountain of info in here and I'm preparing the waders.
I'm looking for the beginnings: specs, glyphs, stat preferences, spells/rotations, etc. Basically the common wisdom stuff. We're not ready for the high end theorycrafting yet.
TIA

I tried using the search function to find the answer to this question in here and on the entire Shaman forums, but I couldn't discern a clear answer.
I was just wondering what the "paper doll" of one's character is? My best guess would be that it's with all armor on but no buffs, including weapon imbues, but I just want to be told straight up if my guess is correct so that I don't skew my simulations. I just recently found a way to get enhsim to run on my mac by using VMware Fusion (yeah, it's a cop-out way... I already had it from before I wanted to run enhsim when I was trying to do something else), so I wanted to make sure I did things the right way.
