3.3.3 changes to flame shock, from an enhancement perspective. The dot portion can now crit and is affected by spell haste. In raid, I'm seeing my flame shock dot duration drop to 12.8 seconds (previous was 18, of course). I've changed my shock rotation from FS, ES, ES to FS, ES to account for this. Possible implications: clipping the last tick (bad), or if shocking is not the top priority every 12 seconds (ie dogs, SR, LB, hero/bloodlust, etc) it should be a dps increase from the old FS, ES, ES.
Thoughts/feedback?
My updated sequence macro is now

/castsequence reset=combat/target/12 Flame Shock(Rank 9), Earth Shock (rank 10)

Honestly there is no single stat priority list because of the volatility of some our stats so it is best if you run the sim for every gear decision, if you are intent on having a quick and dirty list I can provide you with one that is safe assuming you are in 4pc t10:
Hit before spell cap > Expertise before cap > Hit when over crit cap > haste > ap > crit > arp.
Note, we cannot provide a raw crit cap because agi (which is affected by kings) is variable among those who reach crit cap depending on the gear set, you're just gonna have to make a macro with the following code that spits out your current raid buffed crit and the where you will reach crit cap:
I have rolled a shaman and I love it, but I am puzzled about something. To be able to get into dungeons fast and to level fast I dual specced: enhancement and resto. Now I was just fiddeling about with my gear and talents and than I saw that my bonus healing in enhancement is much higher than in resto spec? So I tested it: I embued my weapon with earth living in resto and healed myself with a healing wave 1800HP. Than I respecced to enhancement (keeping the healing gear and earthliving embue) and did a healing wave 3300HP!!
I couldn't believe my eyes, what a huge difference, what am I doing wrong?
remember I am dual spec so my gear when you check me might be my enhancement gear. But in my experiment I used gear the same gear, my healing gear with more spellpower than my enhancement gear.

doesnt seem right, theres also a bug with dual spec where your spells dont rank up in your offspec. so you have to manually replace the spell on your bars to the correct rank

and revisit the trainer to learn the additional ranks of Earth Shield and Riptide, if you haven't already.
As an elemental i have a lot of trouble with recasting FS in fights. With my current haste it holds for about 12 seconds, so, will going for 4t10 help in any way with that problem?
From What I have seen Rani, FS is on top priority for first shot. After that due to there no longer being a rotation (as Levva has gone on at length about in the Shammy postings), priority goes to ES as it is doing more pop dmg. But you are right that clipping that last tick is a bad idea. Dl ShockAndAwe brada, the priority stacking it places is fantastic, I upped my Dps a good 200-300 just with that priority running. Obviously the addon doesn't account for trinkets, but it does in fact account for when to use puppies, flame ele totem, etc. So by the end of running down the priority list (not rotation) you wont have to worry about that last tick. Some times just so you know it will let FS go, meaning it wont have you reapply it for a little bit. Never the less when you ignore it watch you dps meter, by you ignoring it (which I have tested a few time in ICC Fester and Rotty) you're actually losing Dps by hitting that flame shock.
Initially it will hurt your brain to follow the little slide show of ShockandAwe, but trust me when I say "Learn it, Live it, Love it".
So let it be written, so let it be done.

I have just now started playing with EnhSim after getting comfortable with Rawr, and am getting some confusing results. Most obviously, I am simming for an impressive 3000 DPS, which seems a bit low even considering my very mediocre play. In addition, it says I am over hit cap which I agree with, but when it sims out I see an 8% hit chance, which again confuses me. Lastly, the EP values I am calculating are really confusing, with negative values for a number of stats. I am sure I am doing something wrong, I am just not sure what, any advice?
I currently play a restoration shaman in our 10man guild. I have little question concerning viable trinkets. I don't have access to a lot of 25man trinkets (I'm not a huge fan of Pug'ing, and reserving an item usually results in not getting 25 people to do a raid).
I know SoL is only ilvl200 but finding healing-oriented Haste trinkets is not an easy feat. I have enough frost emblems to pick up [Purified Lunar Dust], but which of the above-mentioned trinkets should I replace it with? Personally I value Haste a lot more than Spellpower, and the on-use effect of SoPI is not that impressive. On the other hand though, SoL is an ilvl 200 item...
Currently (with SoL) I run with a little over 1100 haste (I might be logged out in my PvP gear on the armory).
Furthermore, should I be able to pick up an [Althor's Abacus] or a [Solace of the Defeated], which combination would be best then? Currently I have no mana issues in raids, but as soon as we try hardmode encounters, this might change ofcourse.
Thanks to anyone who can provide some insight in this matter.
Apologies for my English, it's not my native language.
P.S: The website links the heroic versions, but I don't have access to those yet. I mean the normal (ilvl 251/264 version for the purpose of this post).
If I recall correctly, Spark of Life has no inner cooldown and can proc from each chain heal hit, so it's value greatly depends on your playstyle. The use effect of Sliver nonhc is worth 67.7 mp5, the proc of Lunar Dust around 76 mp5.
You wrote that you value haste rating higher than spell power, but even Solace nonhc has more than double the amount in spell power Spark of Life has in haste. So if you have Emblems of Frost to spare and want to buy a Lunar Dust, i would recommend replacing Spark of Life.
As for your question about Solace and Abacus, the best combination would be both. Solace nonhc is worth a whopping 128 mp5, which in some way allows you to see mana as a non-issue.
1) Providing mana isn’t an issue, on single targets, casting Chain Lightning is a higher dps spell than Lightning Bolt – correct?
2) I have 2 piece Tier 9 and 2 piece Tier 10, with Glyph of Flame Shock (as well as Lightning Bolt and Totem of Wrath). As elemental, should I clip the last second of Flame Shock if Lava Burst will come off of CD just after the Flame Shock wears off ? Or should I let the Flame Shock complete itself, then refresh the Flame Shock anew, before casting Lava Burst?
3) As elemental, is there any real rational for using Earth Shock in my rotation? (Outside of possibly casting it during a movement phase.)
4) Obviously I drop Totem of Wrath. If mana isn’t an issue, I still assume that casting Fire Nova on a single target fight is not a dps gain (as compared to a Lightning Bolt) correct? If so, how many mobs does the Fire Nova generally have to hit to make it a dps gain over casting Lightning Bolt at the main mob?
5) Lastly, for fights with more than one target, is there any rationale to maintaining a FS > LvB > CL > LB rotation on the main target, but casting another FS on the second mob (in place of a filler LB on the main target) and then switching back to the main target to continue the rotation. Repeat this until the second target’s FS has fallen off and then cast FS on it when it can be fit in. The premise would be that the second FS would do overall more damage to that second target than a LB cast on the original target. Flawed or appropriate logic?
Many thanks in advance!
[edit - I have read the Elemental Shaman TTT page - but can't find concrete answers to the above questions and/or simply want to clarify things that have been brought in different posts.]
[edit 2 - thanks @ Uberdrivel]
@fearstalker: To which spec are you referring to? In any case, 2pc T10 should outpace 4pc, between the stat gains and the bonuses. Can't comment on offset pieces without knowing your spec.
@jimavet: (Elemental is my off-off-off spec, but I'll try).
1. It's a small dps gain, but nothing too significant. Good to use CL during Clearcasting.
2. You should always be casting when dpsing, and always LvB when FS is up. If FS is about to wear off and both LvB and FS are off cooldown, FS first and then LvB, even if you clip the dot. If LvB is off cooldown but FS isn't, throw in a LB and then refresh FS. You don't ever want LvB finish without FS up - it won't auto-crit even if you FS before LvB hits.
3. No. Even if you're moving, it's probably better to just refresh FS.
4. You actually may be better off dropping Magma/Searing/Fire Elemental if you have a Demo Warlock in your raid. In any case, Fire Nova is, I think, worth using every cooldown when there are 3+ mobs, but I could be wrong there.
5. It's usually more important to be using Magma Totem/Fire Nova/CLing on cooldown for aoe fights (e.g. regular trash), rather than throwing up Flame Shock. The ICC fights with one or two big adds that come to mind (Putricide, Deathwhisper, Saurfang, Lich King) generally rely on the add being focused down as quickly as possible, in which case you should be burning the add exclusively before returning to the boss. FS may drop off, but the add's death is important than your overall damage output.
@Silvertus: I see a number of issues. You're missing the 3% crit damage metagem, +30 SP to bracers, and gemming for Haste when you should really be gemming for SP or SP/Haste if the bonus is really good. Talisman of Resurgence is a bad DPS trinket, unless you're an Arcane Mage. Try looking for crit/haste/hit items (there are some nice cloth pieces) instead of stuff with mp5 or spirit. If you raid with a Boomkin/SPriest, you'll only need 10% hit, try to avoid gemming for it. In any case, your DPS probably won't be as high as pure DPS classes, but I'd be less concerned with the actual number as to how it compares to the other DPS in your raid.
So I read somewhere that when we get 1,25 sec Lightning Bolt cast, Chain Lightning isn't profitable anymore. But when I went testing that on ZAP!, I still find CL profitable on single - target.
Hi, im a restoration shaman who is closing in on 1269 haste unbuffed (1195 at the moment). I was wondering, as I always raid with a DK, I always use wrath of air totem.
Should I stop stacking haste due to always being over the soft cap with Wrath of air, or continue to stack?
@Coldfire: Our goal is to fill the 8-second window of Lava Burst cooldowns with as much Lightning Bolt filler as we can. Being mindful of latency and the human element, Chain Lightning is a useful tool in smoothing out the inevitable gaps that appear. Only one such cast should be considered in an 8-second window since Lightning Bolt is far more efficient.
Its benefit from haste is capped at 50%, meaning we should ignore it while under the effects of Bloodlust/Heroism, Elemental Mastery, a speed potion, or any other hasted casting effect.
@Zaar: You should always be seeking to drop Wrath of Air, as its effect and Moonkin Aura is taken into consideration for the 1269 haste soft cap. Haste beyond that amount will no longer benefit LHW or Riptide's GCD, but will continue to enhance your cast times for Healing Wave and Chain Heal.
The value of additional haste rating will depend on your style of healing and the availability of aforementioned buffs.
I am making a spreadsheet for myself to determine the difference in HEPs between those items usually referred to as "healer items" and "dps items" and for non-mail best in slot pieces. But after i determine how many HEPs i gain by using all item types instead of just mail and "healer items", is it possible to determine how much benefit i will actually gain in the game, maybe in terms of possible HPS or mana longevity?

HEP is normalized to spell power. That means that, by definition, 1 HEP is worth 1 point of spell power. When you produce a shaman_hep report, it provides you with a conversion rate from spell power to hps, if that's a metric that feels more intuitive to you.
I have a Resto Shaman I have been working on building up and I have been reading as much as I can, but there is something I have not been able to find out recently. Is there a good number for my MP5 to be at so I can clear around for more haste and crit?
The amount of mp5 you need is subjective to each fight. If you have mana at the end of a fight, you had too much mp5, if you ran out, you had too little. That being said, I run with about 200 mp5 unbuffed (without water shield or mana spring) and a Solace trinket (which is 128 mp5 consistently), and very rarely have mana issues as long as I have replenishment and remember to keep water shield up.
For starting out, somewhere between 200-300 mp5 should be more than enough unless fights are taking longer than they should.
I would like some advice about tank healing in 10 man. A few questions.
1) Firstly, should I keep with the T9 2 piece? I appreciate the extra healing power from riptide would help, but I very often consume it for chain healing on the melee, and I am concerned it may result in a lot of overhealing. I am only running with the 2 piece T10 and offpieces, and my stats are fairly strong that way.
2) Is it worth going for the T10 4 piece? Considering I have elemental to gear up also. Is it really beneficial in a 10 man environment as a tank healer?
3) We run with 3 druids and replenishment, so innervates are free to use, though I do get quite hung up about mana and don't like to 'hog' innervates (I usually get 1-2 per fight). I expect my lack of experience means I am spamming a little too much, but I am really unsure where to go with stats. As a tank healer, should you go with crit or mp5 on gear? haste/mp5, crit/mp5 or haste/crit? I don't feel my mana is much of a problem but it might be if i drop further mp5, by dropping the T10 gloves for the T10 helm instead, replacing the gloves with haste/crit gloves. I am pugging every week to try to get the Solace trinket, but no luck and I can't really rely on getting it. There are not really enough people in our guild to form our own group either.
It may just take a few weeks of getting used to it, I am fairly new to healing, but I'd like to get the basics right.
I apologize if I missed this somewhere, but I looked through the Elemental compendium and through other threads on this forum and didn't find an answer to my question.
My question is this: If I get a spell power proc from an item, is it worth interrupting my rotation and spending the mana in order to refresh FS with the increased spell damage(I have 4pc T9)?
Also, would I want to use Blood Fury and any other +spell damage buffs before dropping my Fire Elemental or is the effect so minor that it would be more beneficial to have 1 more GCD with the spell power buff on a different spell?
