In the HEP reports, where would I find activity at? I'm looking through the report and trying to find a determination of actual spell-casting time for the mana intensive fight and can't find it, would this need to be done by hand currently?
As in, if a shaman were casting (non-canceled spells only) 80% of the whole fight, where would that be in the report?
Antivyris, it's not in the 'most mana intensive combat' part. The only place you get that information is at the very begining of the report. If I take Zorick's log as an exemple : "Total in combat time spent healing: 33 mins 58 secs (41.7343% of combat time)" (13th line of the repport). Take care of not taking the other similar information "Total time spent healing: 36 mins 2 secs (14.0318% of log file time)" (6th line of the report) which isn't the active time.
About Rawr.Restauration, I don't see that as a bug. It's the way Rawr do things : it simulate a fight and calculate the bests stats for throughput and longevity. For that it consider that you got people with infinite life deficit to heal. So it only takes into account the throughput efficiency of a stat while in reality overhealing is a major factor.
While Shaman_hep do its work on a combat log, so on what really happen for you, taking into account your habbits, the randomness of the fights your guildemates reactions etc. That's something you can't model in a simulation because every player is unique, every so does every raid.
Rawr is perfect for DPS classes, but it can't be accurate for healing. The only way I can think of to make it more realistic would be to let the user put the HEP value for the stats and Rawr would use those information to order the different pieces of equipment and then only do a simulation with those choices. But it's not really how Rawr is supposed to work I guess.
Actually replacing RestoSham model with hep values was my first idea -- parse logs with shaman_hep, paste it's results into rawr -- voila!
I still believe though that Rawr should use statistical data, along with several healing (and overhealing) profiles (might be hand-editable, including copy-paste from WoL/WMO/WWS parses) to model real healing.
Without the ability to model effective healing (including direct overheals along, chain heal jump probability, earth shield trigger interval, riptide consuption, overwriting, HST effective ticks and other stuff), Rawr model as a 100% ideal conditions HPS gauge is not very useful, even when comparing gear.
Rawr is already close to being good with mana management (time-based calculations) and it seems it's going to become even better in this department (it looks like Antivyrus is going to implement some kind of active time combined with latency - current model assumes 100% active time which isn't the case on many fights). Overhealing support with probability scaling, etc. is the next logical step to a better model.

Unfortunately that can't be tested since Rawr.RestoSham is working off some faulty-ideas. The main design is for boss-fights realistically, and it's not meeting that requirement at this time. I very much disagree that it can't work for healing classes as well. If a simulation or model does not match real world or even close to real world, then the model/sim is broken and needs fixed. The 'Rawr' way to do things is create a realistic output of what your gear will do in X situation.
And yes, it is a very large bug. RestoSham was originally designed around the idea you stated, which is why it fell out of use by so many for so long, and was abandoned shortly before BT. Since the start of sunwell, I've been trying to turn it around and make it as fare 180 from that as possible. Sunwell had the same issue, Rawr said 'Stack Crit/SP!', and EJ said 'Haste haste haste!'. Well, we all know who was right there, and that was due to the setup of the model. When I'm finished fixing the broken parts, my hope is that it will be 'close' to HEP readouts. +-2-5% is my goal.
That's why I'm looking for time casting non-canceled spells on the mana intensive fights. Just getting that data alone correctly into Rawr will get me quite a few steps closer to bringing Crit and SP back in line where they should be. And a side note, we have not used relevant stats and weights, and will never use them. We simply include that in the readouts because it's a very high demand feature. Stat weights from any program become useless as soon as a single variable is changed. That is why HEP works very well, since it goes off your current gear/style, and is easy to run after you get said upgrade.
Also, just to make sure, the calculations for HEP are how much effective healing comes from 1 point of X, correct?
That is the way shaman_hep works. The idea is to increase effective healing. On heals that do not overheal adding more spell power would provide more effective healing. On non-overheal non-crits adding more crit would add more effective healing. On heals that overheal, neither sp nor crit provide value. Haste provides no value to casts that are already at the haste gcd cap. It is a lot more complicated due to secondary effects like procing AA and earthliving, but that is the general idea.
If you are developing the Rawr model, it may be useful to look over the shaman_hep code. It is open source so you can see all the ways different talents and heals interact with each other. I have done my best to make sure it reflects what happens in game based on the combatlog data.
Other then this thread, is there a repository online of an archive of reports/combat logs to use?
On World of Logs and Wow Meters Online one can just browse through public reports. Sometimes that is useful for gathering data.
Right now we have two weapons with procs, which could be BiS [Trauma] and [Val'anyr, Hammer of Ancient Kings]. Trauma seems quite straightforward when it comes to measuring HEP, yet the Val'anyr dilemma remains. The problem being that the combatlog doesn't specify what absorbs damage, making it difficult to determine the effectiveness of the mace.
My proposition is then, would it be possible to track the amount healed* when Blessing of Ancient Kings is active (15sec)? 15% of that would naturally be the maximum HEP. At least that would make it easier to compare these two weapons.
*Earth Shield and AA don't contribute to the bubble.
* Added support for T10 Resto 2-piece.
* Added more spell ids (mostly Icecrown to remove warnings).
* When verbose reporting is on, only display the cast time for the first hop of chain heal (visual only change).
* Improved handling of missing buff (SPELL_AURA) events in the combatlog. This change should have little to no effect for most combatlogs.
* BUGFIX: Properly handle haste for haste capped GCD spells like Earth Shield, Water Shield, and Riptide. This change will decrease the value of haste slightly once you reach the haste gcd cap.
* BUGFIX: Fixed a bug that was under reporting Riptide empowered Chain Heals (and causing SP to be very slightly undervalued for Chain Heal accordingly).
I will upload one of my T10 2-piece reports, but it would definitely be good to see how it performs for other people so we can get a range of values for what the set bonus is worth.
Balatro, as far as Val'anyr goes I would need a combatlog with a shaman using it to have any chance of producing any sort of data for it. However, as you pointed out the combatlog does not provide absorb data so that best that could be done is guesstimate.

* BUGFIX: Fixed a display issue with stacking haste buffs (Bizuri's Totem) that was causing a garbage number to display for the haste rating of each dose and overall haste rating. In 2.95 I had noted that the Bizuri code was untested. It has now been tested and fixed.
Only reason to upgrade to 2.99 from 2.98 is if you are using/testing Bizuri's Totem.
Here is my set bonus report for the last wing of ICC25 (Rotface, Festergut, Putricide), as well as ToGC25. I think there may even be some Ulduar25 in there (which may have lowered the HEP for the bonus slightly because I really wasn't utilizing it as much in that content).
So the T10 2-piece dropped my haste HEP in ICC-25 from the 2.2295-2.3698 range to 2.04. Without T10 2-piece I was only haste soft capped during bloodlust (haste capped about 5% of the time). With T10 2-piece I am haste soft capped during bloodlust or when the T10 2-piece is up (haste capped on about 32% of my instant casts and lhw). I do not know what the impact/value of the T10 2-piece is for someone already over the haste soft cap.
T10 2p summary. 10 unsuccessful Putricide 25 attempts then TOGC25, 1 shotting all but not attempting Anub. I swapped T10 251 shoulders for 264 festergut non set ones for Twins as I don't riptide on this fight.

EDIT: I should also add that after doing some testing, I unfortunately found that ELW and Althor's Abacus don't contribute to the Valanyr bubble (Protection of Ancient Kings).
This wasn't a long period of logging, only rotface and half of our putricide attempts, 2x set bonuses. Also trying out the Revitalizing skyflare for fun with heroic-solace + sliver!

It looks at the SPELL_AURA_APPLIED and SPELL_AURA_REMOVED events in the combatlog for sid 70806 (Rapid Currents). It monitors the buff whether you are in combat or out of combat, but the time only starts when you enter combat and stops when you exit combat.
For example, if you cast riptide then cast chain heal the buff is up from when the riptide lands until the chain heal finishes.
It's using uptime in combat not overall log uptime. Since shaman can't rez other people in combat, using it out of combat to rez would have no effect on its uptime in general. That said if other people in the raid are in combat and you aren't and you are rezing, it counts that as combat time.
* Added T10 2-piece set bonus HEP value by time saved in addition to by buff uptime.
* Now reports time spent dispelling and time spent with totems.
* The mana intense fight now reports healing, dispelling, and totem time.
* Report uptime on INT buffs (like Flask of Distilled Wisdom). This has no effect on HEP values.
* All GCD based spells should now influence the value of haste and are checked for haste cap. This may increase the value of haste slightly if you are not at the gcd cap.
* Use all possible combatlog events to track Earth Shield and Water Shield casts to better track number of casts when there are missing combatlog entries.
* Now report combat ehps and hps at the start of the report.
* All trinket based mana regen should now be included when calculating "Character sheet MP5 needed unbuffed" which should now be lower if you use a mana regen trinket.
* The mana restored in the most mana intense fight is now sorted by total.
* The mana pool is now assumed to be unchanged from the previous fight if it cannot be calculated in the current fight due to lack of replenishment and mana tide.
* 3.0 was time for code clean-up. Around 1,000 lines of code were removed by use of more subroutines. This should help code readability for anyone else looking over the code.
* Minor BUGFIX: Tidal Waves was getting credit for saving time even on Nature's Swiftness casts when it had no effect.
Jamoth of Destromath pointed out to me that the way shaman_hep was handling the T10 2-piece provided the largest HEP value if you didn't consume the buff. If you cast riptide and move around with the buff up you have the haste buff, but it probably is not as valuable overall as other haste buffs are when they are being used. Before you could get an insane HEP value for the T10 2-piece by just casting Riptide every cooldown, in which case the set bonus is providing very little value. So 3.11 added a second way of calculating the T10 2-piece set bonus based on how it is actually consumed. This should typically be a much lower HEP value unless you always consume the buff immediately.
This may be singling out this buff compared to any other temporary buff if you use the uptime on any temporary buff (SP or haste) in the report at the top based on value and uptime that does not factor in the effect on actual casts while the buff was up. That said, the new lower HEP Value is probably more accurate for comparing to other set bonuses.

People have been requesting a way to compare trinkets with shaman_hep. I do not believe that comparing trinkets from different reports is very useful so providing a HEP value for trinkets as part of the report would be misleading.
I decided to put together a spreadsheet where you can enter your HEP values from shaman_hep and if you have the trinkets you can provide the overall proc value for trinkets from the shaman_hep reports.
